Chapter 1047: Chapter 1047: Never Able to Get It Up

Ye Fan wished he could find something to stuff his ears with; dealing with the unreasonable Zhang Jiefang and Chu Erzhu left him utterly helpless. What could he say? No matter how he tried, it never felt right.

"You guys chat first, I’m heading to the restroom." Ye Fan found an excuse, intending to make a quick escape.

The best plan is always to run, especially if staying meant being deafened by the argument.

"Ye Fan, stop right there! Are you trying to sneak away?" Zhang Jiefang glared at Ye Fan, saying, "You need to make a statement; you’re involved in this. If you don’t, don’t think about getting away easily."

Chu Erzhu also looked at Ye Fan and said, "If you just run away like this, you’ll never be able to ’stand up’ again; I curse you to never be a man."

Ye Fan stumbled as he tried to leave, glaring bitterly at the two men, thinking to himself, "How deep is the grudge that their curse could be so vicious? And you two are old men, how can you say such things so brazenly? Do you not have any shame? I’m embarrassed for you."

Ye Fan walked away without looking back.

Zhang Jiefang emphasized, "Remember, you’ll never stand up again. Leaving means you swore this oath."

Ye Fan left the room, half amused and half irritated, before closing the door and entering the room with Mengyao and Zhang Lu.

Dealing with Chu Erzhu and Zhang Jiefang was something he really couldn’t handle. It was better to just ignore them.

As for the absurd curse, since he hadn’t said it himself, he wouldn’t care.

Whoever said it is truly an idiot.

Ye Fan sat down next to Mengyao, with Zhang Lu opposite him.

Both Mengyao and Zhang Lu looked at Ye Fan with curious expressions.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Ye Fan felt a little uneasy.

"Nothing," Mengyao replied seriously, while Zhang Lu tried to stifle a laugh.

Ye Fan felt something was off, but before he could ask more, Zhang Lu’s question came right up, "How did the talk go?"

"Talk? How could I talk? It was like two shrews yelling at each other, driving me nuts." Ye Fan gave an objectively rational evaluation.

"What are you saying? My dad is a shrew?" Zhang Lu complained in dissatisfaction.

"Exactly, how could my grandpa be a shrew?" Mengyao rolled her eyes at Ye Fan’s shrew comment.

"If you heard what those two old men were saying, you’d think the same as I do," Ye Fan stated seriously.

"You’re not allowed to say that." Mengyao couldn’t stand Ye Fan calling her grandpa a shrew, so she reached out and pinched Ye Fan’s waist hard.

"Don’t make a fuss, I’m serious, your grandpa is really like a shrew." Ye Fan pulled Mengyao’s hand away.

"Keep talking, keep saying that." Mengyao pinched his waist again, twice this time.

Ye Fan took a couple of deep breaths and earnestly said, "Although it isn’t nice to say, facts speak louder than words. Your grandpa is just like a shrew, and so is Zhang Lu’s dad. It’s something you’re better off not seeing, otherwise you’d be disappointed."

"What a big mouth," Zhang Lu said, caught between laughter and tears.

"Still want me to pinch you?" Mengyao said with a wry smile.

"Enough, enough, I understand. One is your grandpa, the other is your dad. Calling them shrews isn’t pleasing to the ear, but it’s the truth, so I’ll just conveniently forget about it." Ye Fan looked at Mengyao and Zhang Lu and decided not to bring it up again.

"That’s more like it." Mengyao and Zhang Lu smiled satisfactorily, as long as the word ’shrew’ didn’t come out of Ye Fan’s mouth again.

"Why did you leave? Is my dad still talking with Grandpa Chu?" Zhang Lu asked.

Ye Fan sidestepped the reason for leaving, saying with interest, "Yes, they’re still talking. Actually, it’s more of a shouting match, like two angry shrews going at it."

"Hiss!" Ye Fan immediately took a deep breath.

This time Mengyao wasn’t gentle; she pinched a handful of Ye Fan’s waist with full force.

"That’s what happens when you don’t learn." Ye Fan pouted in a threatening way.

"Haha, it just slipped out, I couldn’t help it," Ye Fan explained bitterly.

"I think you have a masochistic tendency; if you’re not disciplined, you feel uncomfortable." Zhang Lu scorned.

Ye Fan learned the lesson; it really wasn’t polite to call Mengyao’s grandpa and Zhang Lu’s dad shrews, even if it was the truth. You just can’t say it.

Ye Fan spoke seriously, "In my view, Grandpa Chu and Uncle Zhang are just having an ego clash. They claim to be doing it for their juniors to win me over, but really, neither is reasonable. They just want to win to embarrass the other. In the end, all this fighting achieves nothing."

"Winning someone over—aren’t they really fighting over you? If you chose me in front of both of them, Uncle Zhang would be embarrassed; if you chose Zhang Lu, my grandpa would be embarrassed. So, it’s indeed a tough situation. You can’t even speak the truth without offending one or the other." Mengyao analyzed with great understanding.

"Isn’t that right?" Ye Fan agreed deeply, complaining, "Mengyao, don’t you think they’re both just looking for something to do? What’s the point of arguing like this?"

"Whether there’s a point or not isn’t up to us." Zhang Lu interjected, saying, "This matter is ultimately my fault. If I hadn’t asked you to pretend to be my boyfriend, this wouldn’t have happened."

"As a scapegoat, I had to help with such a minor favor. But what I didn’t expect was that such esteemed political figures could act like shrews..." Ye Fan stopped himself mid-sentence.

Mengyao and Zhang Lu’s eyes turned directly to Ye Fan.

Ye Fan internally sighed with relief, narrowly avoiding letting the word ’shrew’ slip out again.

It wasn’t like he meant to say it, but he had been so rattled by Chu Erzhu and Zhang Jiefang that the description of a shrew had come to mind reflexively.

"Are you not going to the room where my dad and Grandpa Chu are?" Zhang Lu shifted the topic.

"No, why should I? Once they tire out of arguing, they’ll naturally disperse." Ye Fan said.

"How long will they argue?" Zhang Lu sighed helplessly.

"Why don’t you go talk to them?" Ye Fan suggested.

"Not even if you beat me to death," Zhang Lu resolutely refused.

Mengyao hesitated for a moment before cautiously saying to Ye Fan, "Did you forget what my grandpa and Uncle Zhang said as you left the room? That curse of never standing up again?" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Ye Fan was stunned, and then stunned again.

Then, his eyes went back and forth between Mengyao and Zhang Lu several times.

"No wonder, when I entered the room, your expressions were so weird. I felt something off but didn’t think much of it."

"Turns out you were eavesdropping."

Ye Fan immediately realized the truth of the situation.
