I was awoken by the sound of nothing in particular.

Slowly, I got up and put on some clothes. It was a pretty warm morning so the routine was rather pleasant. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I made my way downstairs to have some breakfast. I wasn't exactly feeling special so toast was my go-to breakfast. As I waited for my bread to heat up, I heard some knocking at the door.

Hmm, I wasn't expecting anyone.

I walked over to the front door and opened it, being greeted by Robbie's face.

"What's up, William!"

"Hey." 𝗳𝘳𝒆𝘦𝑤𝐞𝚋𝗻𝚘𝘷𝘦𝙡.𝑐𝐨𝘮

"Are you doing anything at the moment?"

"Not really."

He looked pretty bored so I decided to invite him inside. The two of us took a seat at the dinner table as I waited for my bread to finish heating up.

"Did you know that killing vampires gives a lot of experience?" he asked.

"Yeah, I've been hunting them the last few days."

"Ah, do you know if the rewards get split if multiple people fight them?"

"I'm not sure, we can try it out today, I was planning on doing some more hunting anyways."

"Sounds good to me! I'll get Maia as well."

"Oh, you've been talking with Maia?"

"She's been pretty distressed ever since Josh was captured, but I think she's still in fighting condition."

"Alright."

I could hear my toast sizzling in the pan. I got up from my seat and served the toast on a plate. I got some butter and smeared it all over until it was completely melted. I looked over at Robbie, he didn't seem too interested so I decided that I'd just eat it myself.

"I might try to get Chloe as well," I said.

"Chloe? Is she the girl that came with us?"

"Um... I guess so."

That wasn't exactly the best description of her but it was close enough. Anyways, I would like to get Elanor to join our group as well if possible. Our group is somewhat lacking in terms of ranged support, granted, I could make up for it a little bit with my Minions.

I finished my breakfast and the two of us left the house. We made our way through the street as Robbie led the way to Maia's place. I hadn't even talked to her since we came here, I guess I'd been pretty isolated.

"Her house is just over there."

"Alright."

We made our way over and knocked on the door. After the sound of a few footsteps, the door clicked and swung open.

"Hello?" she said with a lethargic voice.

"Hey, do you want to come vampire hunting with us?" asked Robbie.

"Yeah... I'll come."

All of a sudden, she seemed a lot more motivated. I guess Josh's situation had taken quite a toll on her, although I guess it'd given her quite a bit of motivation as a side effect. She grabbed some weapons which were just strewn on the ground and came back out, joining our group.

"Let's go to Chloe's place now," suggested Robbie.

"Ah, actually, I'm not sure where she lives."

"What... well, I'll use my psychometry then."

All of a sudden, Robbie seemed to have been hit by an influx of information.

"Alright, she lives just that way."

Again, he led the way as we continued to grow the size of our group.

We walked up to a small yet cosy house and knocked on the door. Like before, we were greeted after only a few seconds.

"Hey~"

"We're going vampire hunting, you coming?" asked Robbie.

"Ah, sounds good to me, just a second~"

She closed the door and quickly prepared everything she needed. After a few minutes, she rushed back out, adding another member to our group. We then headed toward the wall as a collective, nodding at the guards before entering the wasteland.

"I guess we'll be going into the forest then," said Robbie.

"Yeah, do we have a strategy?"

"Nah, let's just see how it goes."

I wasn't sure how our large combat group was going to function, especially with all of our different abilities, but I guess I'll find out.

We strolled through the dark, cold forest, searching for vampires to hunt. My [Darkness Hatred] ability hadn't gone off yet so it seemed that we were still in the safe zone. After more walking, my ability finally detected a presence.

[Vampire Detected]

"I've found one," I announced.

Everyone drew their weapons and looked around.

From behind the trees, a vampire walked out.

The moment it showed itself, lush green vines immediately wrapped around its legs. I guess Robbie was pretty quick with his reaction time. The vampire began struggling as it tried to break itself free from the grasp of Robbie's plants. 𝘧𝑟𝘦𝒆w𝚎𝙗nov𝘦𝗹.𝐜o𝓶

Without hesitation, Chloe rushed over and engaged it.

[Rank]: Baron; [Remaining Blood]: 100%

Ah, it was only a Baron. From the looks of things, I wouldn't even need to do anything. Robbie and Chloe already had the situation under control. The vampire quickly began feeding blood to its sword, strengthening himself. However, the strength of Robbie's vines was still overpowering it. It struggled in vain, trying to break free.

It clashed blades with Chloe, trading blows. However, without being able to move its feet, it was unable to deflect her attacks. Not long after the engagement began, Chloe was quickly cleaving into its flesh, landing swing after swing.

Hopeless, the vampire appeared to have given up.

[Rank]: Baron; [Remaining Blood]: 41%

It tried to block her attacks but it had nowhere near enough strength. After a few seconds, the vampire's blood was swiftly running out. It took us hardly any effort, but the vampire was quickly defeated. I decided to draw [Mayuri-Luc-Ei] and slash away at it a few times. I hoped that that was enough to get me credit for the kill.

It fell to the ground, slowly dissipating into the air.

[You have defeated an [Baron]-ranked vampire]

[You may collect your rewards in the system].

"Did everyone get the notification?"

"Yep."
