Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Joining the Crew!

Unfamiliar with the place and people, it’s obviously easier to find the target by going undercover.

Kaiouli is Blood Blade Alliance’s territory. Here, if you want to kill someone under their protection, you must pinpoint precisely before you act.

So, Guan Gui’s plan was to apply for a job.

Of course, two sudden strangers absolutely couldn’t blend into the core circle, but such an organization naturally needs many peripheral members. Hence, both of them immediately disguised themselves, donned wind-and-sand proof cloaks in the usual style of Kaiouli, and left the small hotel they’d rented for three days.

"The informant was planted by the Hea family. He’s a small gang leader here, dependent on the Blood Blade Alliance. We are going to meet him, and then be introduced to the Blood Blade recruitment manager?"

Lei Rui pieced together the full information from Guan Gui’s concise words.

"Yes." The latter responded succinctly.

"Alright." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Lei Rui shrugged. The cloak felt a little uncomfortable, but blending in keeps attention away. No need to worry about appearance or skin tone; this chaotic land has people of all ethnicities.

The two arrived at a warehouse in the downtown area. Guan Gui exchanged some awkward phrases in Banluo Language with the armed gatekeeper and was allowed entry.

Inside, Lei Rui saw a middle-aged man also wearing a cloak, though he wore it open, revealing a floral shirt and a slightly plump figure underneath.

"Oh, dear Guan! You’re here so quickly; I thought it would take a little longer."

He stepped forward to hug Guan Gui and engaged in cheek kisses.

Dragon Country people are not used to this type of greeting, but since others in this stronghold were not their own, a full act had to be put on.

The informant shook hands with Lei Rui and introduced himself.

His name was Liang Qiucheng, locally known as Thomas Liang. He grew up in this chaotic land, but his parents were actually early informants planted by the Hea family, loyal and reliable.

"You’re looking for a job, no problem, follow me."

He led the two through the warehouse. Lei Rui noticed that the workers were all busy loading and unloading cargo, which looked like smuggling goods.

They passed through the interior of the factory and came to a small room in the back. Liang Qiucheng closed the doors and windows, and then spoke in a low voice.

"You’re really in luck; the Blood Blade Alliance is recruiting heavily."

He was speaking in Dragon Country language now, "A batch of people was taken down by the Black Death God, and some guy, a Foggy Evil Ghost, beat a business lead into seclusion. So they’re short on manpower and are constantly recruiting peripheral members."

Lei Rui blinked, realizing that the informant indeed didn’t know their identities. Though he himself was new to this chaotic land, Guan Gui was already a well-known figure, albeit only for a month.

That’s thanks to him always wearing a mask. As long as he didn’t display those few coffins, it was hard to recognize his identity.

While Lei Rui was lost in thought, Guan Gui naturally remained silent.

Seeing no reaction from the two, Liang Qiucheng continued: "So, what are your levels? And professions, I need to know these to arrange things properly."

Lei Rui said, "Level 25, Rain Summoner."

"Good, and you, Guan?"

"Level 42."

No need to state his profession; Liang Qiucheng was already frowning: "That’s not going to work, Level 42 is too high, we need a different approach."

This level could hold a high position within the Blood Blade Alliance; introducing him would raise suspicions.

Guan Gui said, "I’m not going; he is."

"....."

Couldn’t you have said that earlier?

Though it didn’t really matter, Lei Rui rolled his eyes internally.

Liang Qiucheng’s frown immediately smoothed out: "Well, no problem, a Level 25 Rain Summoner is quite reasonable. Li, what’s your full name? I mean, the fake identity given by the organization."

"Li Dong."

"Age?"

"22 years old."

"So young, very well. Young people always love to take risks for attention, so your identity needs almost no concealment."

After ensuring there were no issues, they moved on to preparations.

A new phone, a new SIM card. His set identity was as an illegal Secret Realm agent by Dragon Country standards, previously smuggling with family at the border, and after their hideout was raided by Cangyun Association, he ended up in Kaiouli looking for work, with only basic Banluo Language skills.

Liang Qiucheng’s role here was precisely this, so it was convenient for him to impart some industry knowledge. In case someone inquires, it wouldn’t give them away.

Guan Gui saved his overseas-use phone number on the new phone, marked as honey, although it probably wouldn’t make calls, it was good to have it just in case.

"I will keep following you."

"Understood, captain."

A daytime passed, Lei Rui underwent training, learned some basic firearm handling skills, picked up some common local knowledge, and got ready. Past 10 PM, he followed Liang Qiucheng to a city bar.

This was unlike those legal establishments back home; it was filled with all sorts of illicit activity and smoky haze.

The two headed to a second-floor room, knocking on a door.

"Oh, Dominico, my friend."

Liang Qiucheng was a familiar face there, as he originally was a gang leader affiliated with the Blood Blade Alliance, thus well trusted.

"Thomas, you mentioned you have a Level 25 extraordinary? You’ve really helped me out. The major manager has been pressing me to recruit; tell me, where to find recruits these days?"

The man speaking had a small mustache, looking around his thirties, with a cigar in his mouth, speaking indistinctly, "Is it this young chap?"

He glanced at Lei Rui, noticing he was quite young.

"That’s right, I’ve met with his father several times; this kid is competent and obedient."

Their conversation was in Banluo Language. Recently, Lei Rui had picked up a little, with memory-enhancing licorice, reaching a level of basic comprehension.

"But."

Dominico hid his expression behind a veil of smoke, "Since he was running smuggling before, why introduce him to me? Wouldn’t it be better to keep him yourself, especially since you know his father?"

Lei Rui feigned ignorance, staring blankly. His character was unfamiliar with the Banluo Language, but he knew inwardly that even though it was just recruiting peripheral members, organizations like these wouldn’t be too casual; this was indeed a significant question.

However, Liang Qiucheng was experienced, having received and sent numerous organizational members over the years. Without panic, he leaned closer to Dominico and whispered:

"To be honest, precisely because I know his father. This kid reached Level 25 at a young age; though just a Rain Summoner, he might have great potential in the future. Keeping him here would waste his prospects. What would I have him do, help move goods?"

He took a swig from the drink handed by a lackey: "In Kaiouli, if considering future prospects, why not send him to the Alliance? Everybody knows the government here is not as good as the Alliance, right?"

"Hahahaha."

Dominico raised his drink, "Quite right, this is indeed a wise choice."

Liang Qiucheng then set his own drink down, sitting beside Dominico’s boss chair, placing a small cloth bag on the table, which contained a handful of gold nuggets.

Dominico used the butt of his cigar to peek into the bag, taking a whiff of the gold’s scent, chuckled, "Rest assured, I will take care of this lad, for the sake of our friendship."
