My Lust System: I Inherited The Sin Of Lust And His Three Wives-Chapter 12: I Think I’m In Love With My Wife
It took Damian just a few minutes to finish unpacking and settle into his new office. Leaning back in the reclining chair, he stared at the glass wall behind him while Hazel stood behind, her delicate fingers massaging his stiff shoulders.
"You do know it’s strange for all of this to happen just after the incident last night."
Hazel broke the silence, and Damian nodded at her words. The old him was a lot of things, but naive was not one of them. From the very beginning, he had sensed something was off, but he had only two choices: stay in a department where he was suppressed or take a chance that might lead to him becoming Senior Associate.
"Most likely if I lose the case, I’ll be losing my job," Damian speculated.
"No one will blame him since he only gave you an opportunity and you couldn’t make the best of it." Hazel chuckled.
Damian raised his head to look at her face while she lowered hers, allowing her long ginger hair to cascade down his sides like a beautiful red waterfall, filling the small space with her scent.
"You find it amusing?" he asked with a smile.
"Of course. The cruelty of mortals is but child’s play in the eyes of the divine," she responded confidently.
Damian’s smile widened as he reached for her face, caressing her cheeks as he asked,
"Then I can count on you to prepare a diabolical plan that will let me take over this firm in a year?" He asked in a low voice, which made Hazel giggle.
"By the end of this year," she corrected him. "A year is far too long."
Saying this, she leaned in and pressed her warm lips against his. However, as soon as their lips met, she pulled away and glared at the door with a murderous light in her eyes.
Knock. Knock.
"Mr. Hill, may I come in?" A low and shy voice rang from the other side.
Damian turned toward the door before giving Hazel a look that clearly meant you should hide. However, she did the opposite.
"Come in."
Hazel mimicked Damian’s voice, causing his face to turn pale with fright. Before he could speak, the door swung open and a young woman walked in.
Clara was a Caucasian woman with unique silver hair that always drew everyone’s attention. She was dressed in a simple floral shirt and red wide-legged trousers, exposing her petite frame with little to no curves. She was nearly as flat as a whiteboard. However, for what she lacked in curves, she made up for in facial features.
With her big round eyes and silver irises accompanied by a small nose and lips, she had an air of innocence and inexperience that made everyone instinctively want to protect her.
’She is cute,’ Damian thought, awed.
Until now, he had mostly heard about her from colleagues or junior staff since they belonged to different departments. The few times they crossed paths, he could only see her from a distance. This was his first time seeing her up close.
On the other side of the room, Clara was also starstruck by the man seated behind the desk. She had joined the firm during Damian’s peak era, when his name was on everyone’s lips after he battled a massive corporation over fraudulent practices involving its pensioners.
It was a very big case because he was going against a veteran Senior Partner from the White Crown Firm and a massive company, and still won.
Seeing him speak in court, Clara saw a different and more capable side of Damian, completely different from the polite, timid man people in the office described. She had always wanted to approach him, but Candice was already in the picture, so she could only watch him from afar.
At last night’s party, she heard the rumors that he got dumped by Adrian and felt bad. She planned to approach him at the party and keep him company, hoping to use the chance to enter his life. But then a different man appeared.
It was the confident Damian she saw in court, but twice as confident. The new him was so stunning she stood rooted to the spot when she saw him. Then he introduced his wife to the managing partner, shattering her heart and the image of a good man she had built in her mind.
Not only did that announcement mean he was the one playing around with Candice, it meant he was cheating on his wife as well. It was already painful to know he was married so she could never have him, but how could he cheat on her too?
However, today she finally got the chance to stand before him face to face. The man seated on the other side of the table was even more handsome than the one she saw last night. Seeing him up close, she couldn’t help but excuse his cheating.
How could you expect someone this good-looking to be faithful to one person?
’But his wife was stunning too. It’s not an excuse!’
Clara’s mind desperately fought against her wavering heart.
The two stared at each other silently for a while until Hazel’s cough broke the silence, at least for Damian.
His face flushed red with embarrassment as he looked up to meet Hazel’s sharp gaze. He shot her an apologetic smile but then froze.
’Wait...’
Damian returned his attention to Clara, who was giving him a strange look after his reaction to Hazel’s cough because she couldn’t hear or see her.
’She can’t see her?’ he instantly deduced.
The redness on his face faded, replaced with a cold, calculating look.
"You are Clara White, the one meant to assist me with the new case?"
Clara didn’t expect him to speak then and was caught off guard. She opened her mouth, but no words came out, causing her face to turn red with embarrassment. Quickly, she lowered her head and nodded before rushing over to his desk, dropping a thick file, then running out of the room.
Damian and Hazel stared at the door with bizarre expressions for nearly a minute before sharing a knowing glance and then chuckling.
"Humans are so dramatic." She laughed.
"Come on, I’m human too. I’m just as shocked as you. Let’s not generalize here."
"You are part demon now, that’s why you are more composed than usual. Have you forgotten you shot at me when we first met?"
Damian raised a brow as he turned his seat to face her.
"I’m sorry, but shooting at someone tearing through space to get to me doesn’t sound like overreacting."
The two went back and forth on the issue, even bringing up each other’s reactions during intimate moments to prove their points. It ended with both sides laughing through most of the conversation.
"So..."
Hazel sat on his lap with her left hand hanging around his neck while she caressed his chest with the right hand.
"Do you like her?"
Damian’s heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly felt uncomfortable with her hands around his neck. She could strangle him at any time.
’Save me, Lord,’ he silently prayed.
"It’s alright if you do. As long as my sisters and I remain your only wives, we don’t mind how many concubines and girlfriends you have." Hazel laughed at his nervous reaction.
Damian blinked, his fear replaced with genuine shock.
"Really?" His voice betrayed his surprise.
"Of course. You are the sin of lust. We can’t keep you all to ourselves. However, what we can do is secure the innermost chambers of your heart for ourselves and let the rest struggle for the scraps."
Hazel’s index finger slowly traced the shape of Damian’s beating heart on his chest while she spoke. Meanwhile, Damian stared at her, shock written all over his face.
"You mean I can sleep with her if I want to?" he asked, just to be sure.
"You should. She’s a virgin. Their energy is special and would be beneficial to you."
Hazel nodded firmly.
She then turned to the desk and picked up the file, placing it on Damian’s chest.
"But first, let’s go through this. Then we will decide how to woo your assistant into our little harem," she added.
All this while, Damian just sat and stared at her deeply and silently. When she finally stopped speaking, he reached forward, grabbed her cheeks, and pulled her face close until they were just inches apart.
"I think I’m in love with you," he said.
