My Level Zero System-Chapter 251: Do you want to become my sky?
Suddenly, Myra shifted, her face pressing against Kain's stomach, like a small cat lazily snuggling into him.
"Kain, you don't need to feel guilty."
"You devised this plan, but my sister's agreement to Faith's contract was ultimately her own decision. And as Myra's sister, I understand her choice."
"Everything should have been peaceful, right? But you... you're so foolish. Just because you were afraid I'd be sad, you cast aside your good image to reveal this truth to me. Aren't you afraid I'll hate you?"
After hearing the explanation, Mera finally understood just how flawless Kain's plan was, until the only flaw appeared, poked by Kain himself, for her sake. When Mera said this, Kain fell silent for a moment.
He suddenly remembered some old stories from when he was very young. Kain had almost been adopted by the village chief, as his village wasn't prejudiced against him being an abandoned child. But after Kain discovered his unique talents, he chose to live alone, survive alone.
Because being different meant being abnormal. Or, to put it more simply, would Mera accept being beside someone who could plan to deceive and manipulate everyone without anyone finding out?
Clearly, most people, whether they respected or feared such a person, wouldn't want to be near him. Just like how Selena wanted to avoid Faith at all costs.
So... what would Mera think? What would she—a person who once expressed a desire for freedom—think?
Once again, Kain found himself in a state of apprehension.
"Kain, I've said before that my dream is to become a bird that can soar freely in the sky, unbound by any iron cage, right?"
Hearing that, Kain's heartbeat involuntarily quickened. Could Mera be...?
But Mera hadn't finished her sentence.
"However, the sky is eternally the largest cage, but a bird can fly in it forever, equating to eternal freedom."
"Kain, do you want to... become my sky?"
As she spoke, Mera's voice grew softer, and she buried her head deeper into his stomach, seemingly out of embarrassment.
As for Kain, his heart seemed to skip a beat.
At this point, how could he possibly misunderstand Mera's feelings?
Just as Kain was about to say something, Mera suddenly raised her finger and pressed it against his lips.
Kain looked surprised, while Mera smiled and said, "You don't have to."
"What's between us, and your answer... let it appear when you're absolutely certain."
"Okay, I promise you, I'll give you a satisfactory answer."
Kain nodded. Becoming her sky—this promise was even weightier than sincerity itself. Yet, Kain didn't hesitate. He had never doubted his own capabilities.
He thought this to himself, but when he looked down, he saw that Mera had fallen asleep. Seeing this, Kain offered a wry smile. He gently ran his hand through her hair, as if caressing her.
As for Mera, in her hazy dream, three figures appeared.
First, there was a Kain who was somewhat kind, naive, and childlike—her very first impression of him.
Second, there was a Kain who was brave, intelligent, and cunning—her second impression of him.
She knew both of these individuals, or these aspects of Kain's nature, and truly loved them. But he still felt somewhat unreal, too perfect. Until the third individual appeared.
This was a Kain of outstanding intelligence, yet still troubled by small problems. This was a Kain who, despite devising a perfect plan that seemed cold, was tender-hearted towards her. This was a Kain who could read every micro-expression on others' faces and control his own emotions, yet became flustered and showed her his softest sides.
This was sincerity.
Sincerity isn't just about not hiding anything from anyone; it's also about being willing to reveal something to you even when hiding it wouldn't affect anything. If Kain hadn't revealed the truth, he would have continued to show her his perfect facade. But when he spoke, it was as if he willingly revealed his weakness to her.
That, too, was Kain's sincerity.
...
With two months before the next challenge, Kain and Mera decided to visit the city of Whesling and Kain's village before heading east.
During this return trip, Mera naturally extended an invitation to Myra, but Myra stated she wished to remain at the academy to focus on her magic training, awaiting the day she could become a mid-class Magus. Mera didn't object to this.
Kain then bid farewell to the close acquaintances he had made during his time at Kanzax Academy, from teachers like Toris and Alisa to peers like Hardy and Katie. Kain even sought out Faith and his group, but they had vanished without a trace, so Kain had no choice but to give up.
Two days later, Kain and Mera boarded a train back to Adia, then took a carriage route to Whesling.
After months apart, they reunited with the Mayor of Whesling, Myra and Mera's father—Wilfred. Seeing his daughter, who had now seemingly matured into an outstanding mid-class Magus, Wilfred could hardly contain his joy. He stroked Mera's head and praised her continuously, while Kain stepped back, witnessing the moment with a gentle smile. Since the misunderstanding between father and daughter had been resolved, Mera no longer needed to appear defiant.
Suddenly, Wilfred waved him over.
"Kain, come here."
Seeing this, Kain didn't dare to delay. He approached Wilfred, placed a hand on his own chest, and bowed slightly.
"Sir Wilfred."
"My daughter has told me about what you've accomplished. I truly don't know what I can offer to repay you; the amount in the contract is far too meager compared to your worth." Wilfred said, his voice filled with emotion.
Previously, he had seen the immense potential hidden within Kain, which was why he accepted the agreement facilitated by Myra. Even if Kain couldn't help Myra achieve her goal, securing an ally was still a worthwhile outcome. He just hadn't expected Kain's potential to materialize so quickly.
The champion of the first-year students at Kanzax Academy. This honor was something few young people in Kanzax province could achieve. Yet, Kain had managed to lead both of his daughters to accomplish this brilliant feat.
Kain responded to these praises with humble smiles and polite words, attributing any success to the help of others. This greatly pleased Wilfred, who now held high hopes for him. He seemed to envision a figure who would stir up Kanzax province in the future, perhaps even reaching the position of the uncrowned king of Kanzax, wielding authority that might even surpass the influence of the Akazac Empire.
The Commander of Kanzax.
A New Hunt Begins
"Need a hand?"
"No need. I'm just going into the Dungeon for a bit. You stay here for now."
After instructing Mera, Kain set off towards the nearby mid-sized Dungeon near Whesling. Its sheer scale still overwhelmed him, but Kain was no longer a mere low-class Magus. His reason for coming here was to gain more opportunities to increase his power. Not only for the upcoming challenges but also for many future obstacles that would require strength to overcome. Thus, Kain didn't want to waste this chance.
And so, Kain stepped into the Dungeon, beginning a new hunt.

Regarding offensive power, [Thunder Magic], [Fire Magic], and [Enhancement Magic] were quite comprehensive. Therefore, before further enhancing his magical attack capabilities, Kain wanted to upgrade [Life Magic], having experienced the excellent utility of the mid-class magic skill [Regeneration]. Acquiring this magic skill would significantly address issues of self-preservation.
Next was [Spirit Magic]. Kain aimed to obtain the magic skills [Mind Disturbed] and [Mind Protection]. This was simply because these two magic skills formed a complete offensive and defensive skill set that Kain wanted to use when dealing with enemies. Meanwhile, while [Mind Map] and [Multiple Thinking] were also useful, Kain's existing cognitive and perceptive abilities were sufficient to handle most foreseeable situations. fгeewebnovёl.com
The hunting plan was set. Kain virtually ignored all the scattered monsters in the upside-down forest area, heading straight for the cave region where flocks of Roc and Moled resided.
These monsters had an incredibly annoying characteristic: they were extremely sensitive to ground vibrations, which they also used for hunting. Before, Kain, Mera, and Myra had to painstakingly traverse the paths, fearing they might disturb these creatures. But now, Kain needed this very characteristic to attract his prey.
He was now equipped with brand-new gear custom-made from the weapon shop. A dagger sprang from his sleeve, its blade emitting a terrifying cold glint. This item was crafted from the claws of a Nightcrawler; its sharpness and durability were unmatched by any weapon Kain had previously owned.
"Let's hunt!"
