My Kingdom Building Done Right!-Chapter 32: Clash At Grimjaw Mountain [Part 2]
Arlo imagined enjoying an easy victory over the Alborin Tribe. His confidence relied on the fact that their opponent had fewer than a dozen capable warriors. Unlike them, his allied forces totaled nearly a hundred and fifty warriors.
The disparity in headcount between the two forces was so obvious, he didn’t even think their enemy would stand a chance. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
But he had underestimated his enemies too much. The battle had only started a few minutes ago, yet over a dozen warriors from his side were already dead, dying, or seriously injured.
However, he was mostly surprised by the young man with short blonde hair who had just summoned what seemed like an Earth Wall.
’A mage?!’ Arlo thought after seeing his warriors topple over the obstruction that materialized out of thin air.
But it didn’t end there. The sound of rumbling reached his ears, which gave him a very bad feeling.
High above the mountain, Blitz had once again cut off the rope that held the next batch of logs. They would fall over the unlucky ones who scaled the path leading to the cliff.
The logs falling from that height were incredibly deadly, more than enough to crush anything along their path.
The warriors who were forced to stop, thinking they’d avoid the fate of their comrades, were the ones hit by the brunt of the logs. Some of them were crushed instantly, while the others were blown off the pathway and fell to the base of the mountain.
Screams of pain, fear, and anger rose among the ranks of the barbarians. But the Alborin Tribe didn’t care, resuming their ranged attacks without mercy.
"R-Retreat!" one of the Barbarian Chieftains who had allied with the Black Wolf Tribe shouted.
However, before his subordinates could obey his order, they heard a ferocious roar from Arlo.
"Anyone who retreats will be killed!" Arlo roared before sprinting up the mountain path.
Instead of following the road, he ran to the side of the mountain, using his superior agility and dexterity to grab a foothold that allowed him to travel faster.
In less than a minute, Arlo had passed through the fallen Barbarians and was charging straight up the cliff.
"Archers, focus on the other enemies!" Ulric shouted. "I’ll deal with Arlo!"
Given the Werewolf’s incredible speed, Ulric believed that hitting him with an arrow would be extremely hard.
And if they shifted their focus to Arlo, the warriors at the base of the mountain could climb up without fear of being shot down from above.
As Ulric made calculations in his head, Leone pointed at Arlo and shouted.
"Wooden Wall!"
A wooden wall shot out of the wall of the mountain, which the Chieftain of the Black Wolf Tribe smashed onto. To Leone’s surprise, the Werewolf even shattered the wall with its enhanced strength.
But that didn’t mean that Arlo was unharmed. He suffered some damage, but he simply shrugged it off. He locked his gaze on the young man, whom he deemed should be killed before he dealt with Ulric.
With speed that surpassed any of the barbarian warriors present, Arlo reached the top of the cliff and lunged at Leone with the intention to kill.
However, Ulric had already expected this to happen, familiar with Arlo’s tendency to target those weaker than him.
The moment the Werewolf lunged at Leone, Ulric jumped in with his axe, ready to strike.
Sparks flew as the axe and Arlo’s claws clashed against each other.
"Fight someone your own size, you bastard!" Ulric shouted in anger.
Arlo sneered before using its superior speed to dodge Ulric’s next blow, punching the latter’s chest, forcing his opponent to take a few steps back.
The Werewolf planned to use this moment to finish off Leone, but an arrow from Yuni and a few bolts from the repeating crossbows above flew in his direction.
Arlo was forced to dodge and block these attacks with his claws, which allowed Ulric to recover from their clash.
However, it didn’t take long for the Chieftain of the Alborin Tribe to realize that Arlo was stronger than him. Every time they clashed, he was the one being pushed back.
Ulric knew that if he hesitated, things would only turn for the worse, so he hurriedly activated his Berserk Skill, doubling his strength for a short period.
TIn his next clash with Arlo, the Werewolf was finally pushed back, but the latter only grinned.
"I’ll play with you later!" Arlo backed off. He had no intention of fighting against the berserk Ulric.
Instead, he focused his attention on the ones manning the mounted repeating crossbows. As long as they were taken out, his warriors could come up without fearing for their lives.
The Werewolf easily scaled off the rocky walls with its claws and lunged at one of the old men, Swain, who aimed directly at him.
"Die, you monster!" Swain shouted as he fired off the bolt from his crossbow.
Arlo blocked the bolt with its claws, but the momentum pushed him back a bit, preventing him from a follow-up attack.
Even so, he didn’t hesitate to once again scale the mountain wall, easily dodging every single futile attempt made by the two old men and two women aiming the arrows at him.
It was then that he heard a flap of wings, prompting him to look up.
Arion’s hooves smashed onto him without mercy, and Arlo crashed to the ground.
An enraged Ulric lunged at the fallen werewolf. But Arlo was faster, so he once again dodged Ulric’s axe strike.
Unfortunately for him, Ulric had already anticipated his dodge and had already prepared a follow-up attack.
Without an ounce of hesitation, the Chieftain of the Alborin Tribe used his head to headbutt the Werewolf, making the latter cry out in pain as it took a few steps back from the first successful attack that landed on its body.
