When Leone saw the mission rewards, especially the part where his own stats would increase, he uncontrollably gasped.
"I-I’ll gain Stat Points?!" Leone’s eyes went wide as he looked at the final reward again, then laughed out loud. "Yes! I’ll finally become stronger than a squirrel! Hahahaha!"
Yuni, standing nearby, facepalmed. She couldn’t help but feel embarrassed watching the young man celebrate becoming stronger than a squirrel.
Meanwhile, Ulric and the two warriors beside him laughed alongside Leone, assuming the young man was just joking.
How could a human be weaker than a squirrel? Like, how was that even possible?
They didn’t know that Leone was indeed weaker than a squirrel. His stats were simply that low.
After he had his fill of laughter, Leone consulted the grimoire about the things that he didn’t understand in his second mission.
"Daedalus, what’s this Special Defense Structure that the mission mentions?" Leone asked.
"Good question!" Daedalus replied. "We were about to discuss that when the mission notification appeared. Basically, you can unlock those Special Structures using blueprints. Right now, you can choose either the Watchtower or the Mounted Repeating Crossbow.
"Both are Special Defensive Structures. It says here that you need four of them, so we need to gather many materials. They will require a lot."
Leone nodded. "I see... we really need to start working hard to gather these materials."
Ulric lightly tapped Leone’s shoulder. The young man jolted a little, then turned his head to face the Chieftain.
"I overheard you need materials to create defensive structures for our base," Ulric said. "What kind of materials do you need? We’ll help you gather them! I’ll mobilize the entire tribe if need be!"
Leone’s smile widened. Free manpower to gather materials was the best thing ever. He was also very excited to complete his second mission, badly wanting to grow stronger.
"Very well!" Leone nodded. "I will provide tools that will help us gather materials faster!"
Without hesitation, Leone opened the Arcane Shop and purchased one Uncommon Axe and two Uncommon Pickaxes.
The axe was the same Twinfang Cleaver Ulric was currently using. As for the pickaxes, they matched the one Maximus was using to mine stones.
—————
[Stonebreaker Pickaxe]
Weapon Type: Mining Tool / Pickaxe
Grade: Uncommon
Mining Efficiency: +45
Passive Effect: 25% chance to extract an additional unit of ore when mining mineral nodes.
Durability: High
Note: A sturdy pickaxe designed for both adventurers and miners who frequently harvest ore veins in dangerous territories. Its reinforced tip allows it to break through hard rock more easily, increasing the efficiency of every swing.

Leone glanced at the space above the cave entrance. If they could flatten it, they could put the repeating crossbows on top, giving them a clearer view of the surroundings.
Archers could hide behind stone parapets while the repeating crossbows provided support fire from above.
Archers could hide behind the stone parapets, while the repeating crossbows would give them support fire from above.
This wouldn’t only increase the efficiency of their defensive lines, but also allow them to continue supporting allies even if enemies reached the camp entrance
Leone could already picture them fighting at the entrance of the cave. Having the Mounted Repeating Crossbows positioned above would help them greatly.
"Let’s see if this will work..." Leone muttered as he raised his hand.
He summoned a three-meter long wooden wall panel, wide enough to block half of the cave entrance, and placed it upright beside the opening. After making sure it was positioned correctly, he manifested it.
The wooden wall panel appeared, once again shocking Ulric, Yuni, and the two warriors.
They still couldn’t believe Leone could do something like this. Their minds raced with countless possibilities.
Leone was too focused on his task to notice their surprised faces. He gave the wooden panel a few taps and kicks to check its stability. To his relief, it didn’t budge.
The wooden panel stood rock solid, even without any supporting pillars underground.
"This is really like magic," Leone said before placing another wooden panel on top of the first. "This is really fun!"
Leone didn’t stop there. He added one more panel, creating a wooden wall about nine meters tall. Then he summoned another panel, horizontally placing it at the top of the nine-meter-tall wall as its floor.
Once it locked into place, the young man realized his idea would definitely work.
If Daedalus had a mouth, it would’ve been grinning right now. It could see its Master was having fun building things.
Leone used most of the wood Ulric had gathered, but the result made him smile.
The young man had created a second story made of wood, where he planned to place the Mounted Repeating Crossbows later.
He would have to wait until Maximus and two workers from the Alborin Tribe flattened the space above the cave entrance while gathering rocks to use as building materials.
It was like killing two birds with one stone!
Leone also knew he could destroy the wooden panels he created and receive an 80% refund on the materials used.
He even added ladders to the side of the wooden panels, allowing workers to climb to the top.
"Well then. Let’s start collecting materials and quickly raise my stats!" Leone ordered.
Maximus saluted his master before climbing the ladder to begin mining.
Ulric then asked the two warriors to help Maximus, which they gladly did.
The Chieftain then entered the cave to gather more of his men to gather trees, as well as to guard the entrance.
Leone asked Daedalus if he had any advice on how their base could receive an 80% passing evaluation. The grimoire was more than happy to share its wisdom with its new Master.
Leone, Ulric, and the Alborin Tribe were eager to complete this mission since both sides had much to gain from it.
They remained unaware that while all this was happening, the scouts sent by the Black Wolf Tribe to spy on them had finally arrived at their abandoned camp back in the open plains of the Borderlands.
