My Hitman System-Chapter 182: Concealment Test [2] (E)
It was around four in the evening, so Jin still had a lot of time to himself.
He turned towards Ice, who had been staring at their exchange with worry and figured out how he was going to spend the rest of his time.
"How about I help in brushing up your knowledge for your concealment test? I got nothing else to do, you see," Jin suggested.
"Really?" Ice's expression immediately turned grateful, but then she curbed it down and said, "…but you have to prepare yourself for the next test. Didn't you hear what Brown said? He's going to go for the kill…"
"Haha, don't mind that. He won't be able to touch even a hair of mine," Jin stated with confidence and picked up his chair and seated himself next to Ice.
"If I were you, I would be focusing on asking as many questions as possible instead of worrying, since it's not just me whose life is at risk. It's the same with you as well if you fail to get good scores in the test."
Jin's words reminded Ice that she really was in no state to worry about someone else. Picking up the question paper, she started asking all the doubts that had welled up in her mind.
Jin patiently answered all her doubts as Ice's fundamentals became clearer and clearer.
Jin glanced at the mission screen that was present beside his vision.
×××××××××Mission×××××××××
Objective: Gain Ice's trust
Progress: 87%
Time: 30 days
Penalty: -3 Physical Constitution
××××××××××××××××××××××××
'Just when will this mission be completed?' Jin thought to himself. He felt that 87% was already considered a lot, as he, too, never really trusted most people fully.
However, it seemed the system disagreed with him.
'I can only try my best to help her now and make her trust me more. If not, I'll lose my three points!'
Jin thought in his mind while helping Ice with her doubts.
Three hours passed just like that as Jin kept on answering all the hard questions that had been bugging Ice.
"Thanks a lot, Zed. I feel a lot more confident thanks to you," Ice sincerely thanked him for his help.
"There's no need for thanks among teammates. We are the crazy four," Jin chuckled and continued, "We always got each other's backs."
"Yes…We are the crazy four," Ice too chuckled as a feeling of gratefulness rose in her heart.
At that moment, Jin saw her trust percentage rise from 87% to 89% and his smile widened.
Right then, Brown returned to the tent.
"That's enough lazing around. Time for your next test," he snorted.
"Yes," Jin replied and grabbed a camouflage cloth which resembled the surface of the sand.
Brown smirked, seeing this and started walking towards his SUV.
"Good luck," Ice nodded towards Jin with serious eyes.
"Thank you, try requesting Brown to allow you to be at the rooftop later, it would be helpful for you," Jin said and seeing Ice nod, he followed after Brown.
The SUV soon left the hut and dropped Jin five kilometres north of the hut.
"Don't die," Brown remarked seriously before driving away.
Jin smirked and muttered, "I won't."
The next moment, he opened up the system store and upgraded Swift Steps to an 'A' grade.
With this done, his figure disappeared.
'To do what is unexpected,' That's one of the major rules of concealment.
Therefore, right now, Jin was circling towards the southern direction from his point.
In the last month, because of regularly training swift steps, his stamina had increased tremendously.
Now that he had upgraded it to an A grade, Jin felt that he could continuously use swift steps for an hour!
Brown soon reached the hut, and after picking up his rifle, he positioned himself towards the north with his sniper rifle.
The next moment, he shot a blank to indicate the start of the test.
However, by this time, Jin had already reached the southeastern point and was heading south.
Not taking this possibility into account, Brown kept looking for Jin in the North and regions not far away from it.
Ice, too, was using her binoculars to screen through those regions from the rooftop with nervousness.
Even if she accidentally spotted Jin, she had no intention of informing Brown about it.
Meanwhile, Jin had reached the southernmost point and now had started leisurely making his way towards the hut.
Unlike the first time, he wasn't in a hurry to finish the test. He had three hours to himself and was going to fully utilise it.
The moon was shining bright, and the shadows of the surrounding barchans provided Jin adequate covering.
Where there were no dunes, he hid behind wind-eroded rocks, bushes and cactuses.
He maintained a constant pace, and as a result this even a person standing just a hundred meters away would not be able to see anything unusual in the surroundings.
Jin had completely blended into the surroundings.
This was the combined effect of an A grade in both Concealment and Swift Steps.
A while later, when there were no more objects left to take cover. Jin took out the camouflage cloth which he had taken and covered himself with it.
Like an ant, he crawled his way towards the hut, which was now only two kilometres away from him.
From afar, the sand looked completely unmoved, even though Jin had not stopped moving.
An hour and a half had passed, and Brown could still not find any signs of Jin. He started looking in all directions now.
But it was of no help. Jin had long blended into his environment.
Ice, too, was looking at the current scene with pure surprise and admiration.
Time continued to pass, and Jin's figure soon reached the Oasis.
Now the difficult part was passing through the vegetation without making any sound. This was the point where Ice had failed earlier.
However, Jin was met with no resistance.
Just like a fish in water, his body slid through the dense leaves in a manner that the noise which came out was similar to the one that was being made by the wind.
He was matching his rhythm with the wind and soon passed the vegetation and found himself standing right in front of the hut.
Brown and Ice had never thought of this possibility and were still looking for him at a distance.
However, normally with Brown's well-honed senses, he should be able to sense Jin, but he couldn't.
'So, it's true,' Jin thought in amazement. When Concealment reached an A grade, Jin came to know about this ability.
The ability to erase his presence completely in front of someone for twenty seconds.
At first, it sounded quite farfetched, and Jin didn't believe it, but still, he felt like giving it a try, nearing the end of the test since he had already reached the hut.
After verifying this, Jin comically looked at the two on the roof and said, "If you find any traces of him, do let me know."
"You…" Ice was taken aback.
As for Brown, his jaw almost opened up in shock and surprise.
The next moment, he started laughing like a maniac "Haha, you got me, lad, you really got me this time,"
A mission completed message popped up the next moment, and a grin formed on Jin's face.
'Two done, three more to go,' He thought with anticipation.
