My Harem of Dangerous and Crazy Women as a Reincarnated Necromancer-Chapter 57: Trapped Between a Huge Pair of Tits
"What the hell..." Mark said, standing completely still, his gaze fixed on the darkness of the corridor.
His eyes swept the dark passage searching for any sign of movement, any shadow out of place, anything that might explain what he had just heard.
But there was nothing.
’I clearly heard someone calling me... it wasn’t my imagination. That voice said my name.’
And that was precisely the problem.
Nobody in this world called him Mark — even his subordinates called him Master.
So who the hell was calling him from the depths of a hundred-floor dungeon?
"Master!!"
At hearing his name again Mark flinched.
But now the voice wasn’t coming from inside the dungeon — it was coming from outside.
"What are you doing?!" Rose shouted from the dungeon entrance, where she was already standing with the rest of the group. "We all came out already, move it!"
Mark blinked in confusion and turned toward the entrance.
Sure enough, Rose, Yuki, Alice, and the five subordinates were already outside the dungeon waiting for him.
All of them were looking at him from the other side with expressions ranging from Rose’s confusion to Yuki’s usual indifference.
’When did they all leave?’ Mark thought, confused.
It seemed he had been so focused on the voice that he hadn’t even noticed the entire group had left him behind.
"It’s nothing!" Mark replied as he started running toward the exit. "I just got distracted for a second."
’I’ll think about that later... right now the important thing is to get out of here before—’
Mark crossed toward the entrance at full speed — or at least that’s what he attempted.
Because the instant his body should have crossed the threshold of the dungeon, something stopped him dead.
It was like hitting an invisible pane of glass at full speed.
The impact was so sudden that Mark had no time to react.
His face slammed against the transparent surface, his body bounced backward, and he fell flat on his back against the stone floor with a dull thud that knocked all the air from his lungs.
"HEY!!"
"WHAT THE—!!"
"MASTER!!"
All three voices rang out almost simultaneously.
Mark lay on the floor staring up at the dungeon ceiling while his brain tried to process what had just happened.
His face and back hurt, though what hurt most was his pride — not that that was anything new.
’What the hell did I just walk into?’
Through the barrier he could see Rose, Yuki, and Alice running toward where he lay.
"Mark, are you alright?!" Rose shouted as she approached.
Mark slowly sat up, rubbing his nose with one hand.
"Yeah... I’m fi—"
But Rose wasn’t listening.
The vampire had tried to cross the entrance to reach him, but her hand struck something invisible that blocked her path.
Rose pushed harder, but it was like pushing against a wall of transparent steel.
"What...?" Rose pressed both hands against the invisible surface.
Yuki approached quickly and tried the same, but her hands also hit the barrier and stopped dead.
Alice tried as well, striking the barrier with her fist.
But the impact produced not a crack, not a vibration, not even a sound.
"Rose," said Yuki, and for the first time since Mark had known her, her voice carried a tone that came dangerously close to desperation. "What is this? What’s happening?"
Rose examined the barrier with narrowed eyes, running her fingers along the invisible surface as if reading something only she could see.
"Something created a magical barrier," Rose said with a furrowed brow. "And it’s not just any barrier... it’s extremely high-level."
"Can you destroy it with a spell?" Yuki asked quickly. "You’re a mage, aren’t you?"
"Magic doesn’t work like that..." Rose replied, shaking her head. "I can’t just throw a spell at it and expect it to break. A barrier at this level has its own magical structure — if I attack it without understanding how it’s composed I could reinforce it instead of weakening it... or worse."
"Then I’ll break it open with force," Alice said, stepping forward as one of her gauntlets materialized.
"Alice, no!" Mark shot to his feet. "Everyone, calm down!"
At Mark’s words all three stopped and looked at him.
"I’m fine, alright? It was just a bump," Mark said, raising both hands in a calming gesture. "And Alice, in the state you’re in, if you try that the only thing you’ll manage is to hurt yourself more than you already are."
Alice slowly lowered her fist as blood continued to flow from her wounds — the mere act of materializing the gauntlet had caused the cut on her side to open a little wider.
"But Master—"
"I’m fine," Mark repeated firmly. "Just... give me a moment to think," he said, trying to sound as calm as possible.
Because on the inside it was a completely different story.
’I screwed up. I really screwed up big.’
Mark kept his expression calm while inside his mind was racing at full speed.
’That damn voice... did it distract me on purpose to separate me from the others?’
To Mark, this hadn’t been a coincidence.
Because what had just happened had all the hallmarks of a trap.
And Mark had walked right into it like a complete idiot.
’First the voice calls me by name to make me stop. Then it waits for everyone to leave. And finally it seals the entrance with me inside... whoever did this knew exactly what they were doing.’
"Master," Rose said, pressing both hands against the barrier. "I need you to listen to me... I’m going to try to analyze the barrier’s composition from this side. There has to be some weak point or some mechanism keeping it active — if I can find it I might be able to—"
"Rose," Mark interrupted calmly. "Easy. Everyone, easy," he said, looking at all three of them. "We’re going to figure this out, alright? I just need you to—"
But Mark didn’t finish the sentence.
Because he noticed something.
Rose had stopped talking mid-sentence. Yuki had taken a step back. Alice’s eyes had gone wide.
All of them had frozen, staring at something behind him with their eyes wide open.
Mark’s stomach dropped.
"...What’s going on?" Mark asked, confused.
But none of them answered.
Instead Rose raised a hand and pointed behind him.
Eaten alive by nerves, Mark swallowed and gathered what little courage he had to turn around.
And when he finally turned around, the first thing he saw was a pair of huge breasts right at the level of his face.
"Huh?"
