Chapter 44: Re-Educating the Seductive Vampire

Mark crouched down slowly, bending his knees until he was squatting in front of the trapped vampire.

From that position, he could see her better — every detail of her face, every expression that crossed her features.

Her red eyes looked at him with a mix of defiance and barely contained fear.

And her fangs, still stained with his blood, gleamed faintly.

Mark watched her in silence for a few moments, letting the tension build.

Until he finally spoke.

"You know," he began in a casual, almost conversational tone, "I really did enjoy having sex with you."

The vampire blinked, caught off guard by his words.

Clearly, that wasn’t what she’d expected him to say first.

"So," Mark continued, his smile widening slightly, "I’ll give you a chance to talk before whatever has to happen... happens."

He tilted his head slightly as he looked at her.

"Go ahead... Convince me why I shouldn’t kill you."

His voice was soft, almost friendly, but there was a dangerous edge underneath.

’Obviously, nothing she says is going to convince me of anything. But there’s no harm in playing with her a little. After all, she almost killed me. I deserve a bit of fun. And besides, I want to see how she reacts.’

The vampire studied him for several long seconds, her red eyes searching his face with intensity.

Mark could see her expression shifting little by little.

The initial surprise faded.

The fear in her eyes began to disappear, replaced by resignation.

Her face became serious, almost expressionless, and Mark knew she had reached the same conclusion he had.

That this was just a game... and that, no matter what she said, he had already made up his mind.

The vampire looked him directly in the eyes, without blinking, without fear.

And then she spoke.

"Go to hell," she said bluntly.

Mark blinked, genuinely surprised by such a direct answer.

’Well. Didn’t see that coming. I thought she’d at least try to negotiate. Or beg. But she just told me to go to hell. Got to hand it to her — she’s got guts.’

Then Mark smiled — this time a real smile, not the fake one he’d been wearing.

"Ouch," he said in a mocking tone, bringing a hand to his chest as if wounded. "That hurt."

Mark leaned in a little closer, his smile widening to show his teeth.

"But you know," he continued in a low, almost intimate tone, "despite that filthy mouth of yours, I would have liked to keep having sex with you."

His eyes met hers and they held each other’s gaze for a few seconds before he spoke again.

"Your body was incredible. The way you moved, the way you moaned, the way you tightened around me..."

Then Mark let out an exaggerated sigh.

"But oh well. What can you do?"

He shrugged with indifference.

"You tried to kill me... And that tends to ruin relationships."

He straightened up slightly, bringing a hand to his chin in a thoughtful gesture.

"Hmm," he murmured, looking up at the sky as if seriously weighing his options. "I’m not sure what I’m going to do with you."

’That’s a lie. I know exactly what I’m going to do. But it’s fun to make her wait.’

Mark glanced toward Yuki, who still had the dagger firmly pressed against the vampire’s throat.

"Yuki, what do you think we should do with her?"

Yuki didn’t hesitate for a single second.

"We should kill her," she replied in her usual flat tone, not taking her eyes off the vampire.

There was no emotion in her voice.

No doubt.

Just a simple, direct statement.

As if she were suggesting what to have for breakfast, not how to end a life.

Mark nodded slowly, as if genuinely considering the suggestion.

"Hmm, solid option," he said thoughtfully, rubbing his chin. "Simple, direct, effective."

He paused.

"Though a little boring, don’t you think?"

Yuki didn’t respond.

Mark then lowered his gaze to the translucent black mass enveloping the vampire’s body.

Vorax glimmered faintly in the sunlight, his gelatinous body pulsing softly as he continued draining the woman’s magic.

"What about you, Vorax?" Mark asked with genuine curiosity. "Any creative suggestions?"

Vorax stayed silent for a moment, as if carefully considering the question.

"Whatever you deem appropriate, Master," he finally replied in his deep, resonant voice. "I will simply follow your orders."

He paused.

"Though I must admit her magic has quite an interesting flavor. Very different from ordinary human magic."

Mark raised an eyebrow.

"Magic has a flavor?"

"To me, yes," Vorax replied. "Each type of magic has its own unique flavor."

"I see," said Mark, intrigued. "Didn’t know that."

Mark turned his attention back to the vampire, who had been watching the exchange with growing confusion and irritation.

"Hmm," he murmured, rubbing his chin. "What am I going to do with you, what am I going to do with you?"

He began walking slowly around the trapped vampire, observing her from different angles.

But before Mark could continue his little performance, Yuki interrupted him.

"Master," she said calmly.

Mark stopped and looked at her.

"Yes?"

"I think you should know that vampires count as undead," Yuki said, with a slight hint of amusement in her voice.

Mark went completely still, snapping his head toward her.

"Go on," he said, his tone turning serious all of a sudden.

Yuki nodded, keeping the dagger in place as she spoke.

"Vampires are technically undead," she explained in her professional tone. "They are reanimated corpses that feed on blood to sustain their existence. They are not alive in the traditional sense."

She paused to make sure Mark was following.

"Technically, they are bodies transformed by a magical virus or a curse, depending on the variant. Their hearts do not beat, their blood does not circulate naturally, and they do not need to breathe."

Mark listened carefully.

"Which means," Yuki continued, glancing briefly at the vampire before refocusing on Mark, "that, being undead, your Consciousness Modification ability should work on her."

Mark went completely still, processing what Yuki had just said.

The silence stretched for several seconds while his mind raced.

’Wait... I can use Consciousness Modification on her? Without having to kill her first? I can modify her directly?’

A slow smile began to form on Mark’s face.

Mark looked down at the vampire, whose expression had shifted from defiant to confused.

She had been watching the exchange between Mark and Yuki with growing unease.

"What are you two talking about?" she asked cautiously, her eyes moving between them.

Her voice no longer had the confidence it had before.

There was something in the way Mark was looking at her now that made her feel deeply uncomfortable.

Mark didn’t answer.

He just kept smiling.

Mark stood up slowly, looking down at her from above.

From that position, she looked small.

Completely at his mercy.

"Alright," he said finally, his tone heavy with anticipation. "Let’s try it."

He extended his hand toward her, preparing to activate his ability.

His fingers spread open, pointing directly at her head.

The vampire’s eyes widened when she saw the gesture — there was something in Mark’s expression that sent a chill through her.

"What?" she asked, her voice rising. "What are you going to do?"

Mark didn’t answer, focusing on activating his ability.

He could feel his magic gathering in his core, ready to be released.

It was a familiar sensation by now, after using it on Ely, Yuki, and Aria.

But this time was different.

This time, his target was conscious.

"Wait," said the vampire, panic creeping into her voice. "Wait, what the hell are you doing?"

Her body thrashed inside Vorax’s grip, desperately trying to break free.

"You cannot escape," Vorax said calmly. "The more you resist, the stronger I become."

The vampire snarled, baring her fangs in frustration.

"Let me go!" she screamed. "Let me go right now!"

Nobody moved.

"No!" the vampire cried, real fear in her voice now. "No, no, stop!"

Her red eyes darted frantically between Mark, Yuki, and Vorax, searching for a way out.

Any way to save herself.

But there was none.

She was completely at Mark’s mercy.

"Please!" she begged, her voice breaking. "Don’t do this! Whatever you’re planning, don’t do it!"

Tears began gathering at the corners of her eyes.

They looked real.

"Please!" she went on desperately. "I’ll give you whatever you want! Money! Information! Power! Anything! Just don’t do this!"

Mark looked at her with a cold, empty expression, his hand still extended toward her.

"You should have thought about that before you tried to drain me to death," he said flatly.

The vampire opened her mouth to respond, but it was already too late.

Mark activated his ability.
