My Goblin System : Levelling up with my SSS Class Devouring skill-Chapter 286
The evening air was cool against Satou’s face as he, Jessica, and Lyra walked through the settlement toward the main courtyard.
As they approached the courtyard, Satou could already sense the overwhelming presence of two beings whose power made even hardened warriors unconsciously give them a wide berth.
Loki stood casually near one of the large stones, looking more like he was waiting for friends at a tavern than attending an urgent military consultation. His androgynous beauty was striking as always—sharp elegant features that shifted between masculine and feminine depending on the angle, dark purple hair that seemed to absorb light, and those distinctive golden eyes that held centuries of cunning intelligence. Tonight he wore what appeared to be deep emerald robes that shimmered into midnight blue when looked at directly, the colors never quite settling.
Beside him stood Seraphina, and the moment Satou’s eyes landed on her, he felt his heart skip slightly.
The Fourth Seat demon lord was breathtaking. Her long silver-white hair cascaded past her shoulders in perfect waves, contrasting beautifully with her pale skin that seemed to glow in the evening light. Her crimson eyes—signature of corruption magic users—immediately found Satou, and the predatory intensity in them softened into something warmer, more intimate. Her blade-like wings were folded elegantly against her back, the black and red metallic feathers catching the fading sunlight.
She wore her characteristic armor that managed to be both functional and alluring—black metal plates protecting vital areas while allowing complete freedom of movement, accented with deep red trim that matched her eyes perfectly. But what caught Satou’s attention wasn’t the armor—it was the smile that spread across her face when she saw him. Not her usual predatory smirk, but something genuine and affectionate.
Both demon lords turned as Satou approached with Jessica and Lyra flanking him. Loki’s golden eyes lit up with amusement. Seraphina’s entire posture changed, becoming less coiled readiness and more... eager anticipation. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Satou!" Loki called out, pushing off from the stone with his characteristic fluid grace. "There you are! "
Before Satou could respond, Seraphina was already moving. She crossed the distance between them with impossible grace, her wings rustling softly, and to Jessica and Lyra’s credit, neither flinched when the Fourth Seat demon lord reached out and took Satou’s face in both hands.
"Are you hurt?" Seraphina asked, her crimson eyes scanning him with genuine concern. Her touch was gentle despite her obvious power, thumbs brushing his cheekbones as she examined him. "That hole in your roof—what happened? Who attacked?"
"I’m fine," Satou assured her, unable to stop the small smile that tugged at his lips. "No attack. Just a very... dramatic message delivery."
Seraphina’s eyes narrowed slightly, not satisfied with that answer, but she released his face. Her hand slid down to find his, fingers intertwining in a gesture that was intimate and possessive. Only then did she acknowledge Jessica and Lyra with a slight nod.
"Ladies," she said, her tone cordial but carrying an unmistakable undercurrent of territorial claim.
Jessica returned the nod politely, her healer’s professionalism keeping her expression neutral despite the obvious display. Lyra’s tactical mind was clearly cataloging the interaction for future analysis, but she maintained her composure.
Loki watched this exchange with barely concealed amusement, his golden eyes dancing with mirth. "Well, this is cozy. Should I come back later, or...?"
"Shut up, Loki," Seraphina said without heat, though she didn’t release Satou’s hand.
"Just making an observation," Loki replied with a grin. Then he turned to Satou, his expression becoming more serious despite the casual tone.
Satou felt his expression shift to something more serious. "Probably. Let’s talk inside. This isn’t a conversation for the courtyard."
He gestured toward his administrative building—the largest structure in the settlement, where he held meetings and conducted settlement business. "We have a lot to discuss. Some of it... sensitive."
Seraphina’s crimson eyes gleamed with interest. "Sensitive information? Now you’ve really caught my attention. I do love a good secret."
"This one might be more dangerous than interesting," Lyra said quietly, speaking for the first time. "The kind of secret that could get people killed just for knowing it."
Both demon lords’ expressions sharpened at that. Loki’s golden eyes fixed on Lyra with new assessment, recognizing genuine warning rather than hyperbole. Seraphina’s wings rustled slightly, betraying her interest.
"Well then," Loki said, his tone shifting to something more serious. "Let’s definitely have this conversation somewhere private."
The five of them—Satou, Jessica, Lyra, Loki, and Seraphina—moved toward the administrative building. As they walked, Satou noticed that the settlement’s residents were watching with obvious curiosity mixed with concern. Having their lord meet privately with two seated demon lords suggested something significant was happening.
They entered the building, and Satou led them to the main meeting room—a space dominated by a large table carved from a single massive tree trunk, surrounded by sturdy chairs. Maps of the surrounding territory covered one wall. Another wall held a tactical board where Satou had been tracking various threats and opportunities.
Everyone took seats around the table. Loki sprawled casually in his chair as if he owned it, though his eyes remained sharp and focused. Seraphina sat with perfect posture that somehow still managed to look relaxed, her wings folding precisely against the chair’s high back. Jessica and Lyra positioned themselves on either side of Satou, a silent statement of unity and support.
Then Satou started the conservation by telling them how he had received a message from Theereaper this morning and that the content in the message talks about an invasion that would happen within a month from now .
The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees.
Seraphina went very still beside him, the kind of stillness that predators adopt before striking. Loki’s leg slid off the armrest as he sat up fully, all pretense of casual relaxation evaporating.
"TheReaper," Seraphina repeated slowly, her voice carefully controlled. "The legendary hero. The one who’s killed twelve demon lords. That TheReaper."
"Yes," Satou confirmed.
"And he sent you a warning?" Loki’s voice carried disbelief mixed with fascination. "The human champion who’s dedicated three hundred years to killing demons sent a warning to a demon lord?"
"I know how it sounds," Satou said. "Trust me, I was skeptical too when his message spell came crashing through my ceiling. But after reading it, after understanding what he was telling me... I believe it’s genuine."
