My Formula 1 System-Chapter 650: Building A House From Scratch
Laura waited patiently, but also longingly, for Luca. Since she had no clue of his travel plans or how his schedule worked, she was always anxious every single day, hoping that that’d be the day his car finally pulled into the estate. It’s hard when you’re just sitting there waiting, and you don’t have any idea where someone is.
But luckily, Luca gave her an answer! He sent her a message the other day, asking if she was still in his house because he was going to be back today.
Laura didn’t even care if he had asked that because he was finding her presence increasingly intrusive—she was just happy to hear from him. Also, she was convinced Isabella had probably talked to him about her, making him act more logical and serious again, which maybe made him stay away longer.
But once Luca stepped through the door, everything would go back to how it used to be. Luca, Laura, and Martin; one big, happy family.
Banging pots and spoons together, Martin was making a huge mess in the kitchen. He even had a safety helmet on his head, perfect for his rough reputation.
The boy looked up at the kitchen doorway when his tall mom swayed in. She picked him up with little resistance and carried him up to the first floor. In one of the living rooms, she swept a curtain aside and pointed outside to the road where a sleek black car was slowly snaking its way toward the house.
"Say: ’Uncle Luca’s back!’" Laura whispered into the baby’s neck while she gave him a little squeeze. But Martin didn’t really care about the car. He was way more interested in the fancy embroidery on the curtain and was trying to grab it with his hands.
"Alright, let go of that," the mother snapped, quickly pulling the fabric out of the boy’s strong grip. Martin started to mewl, but she cuddled him away. "Let’s go welcome him," Laura said excitedly.
Luca exhaled as he cut off the engine. He looked into the backseat filled with bags and stuff from his trip. Reaching, he started to dig through one of the bags, moving things around until he felt something specific.
"Sure, it’s here, not to worry," he said aloud.
"Oh, that is so good to hear!" a voice from his car’s speakers spoke back. It was his PA. "That .CRYPT file is the only one of its kind. Because of the security on it, it’s basically impossible to replicate or repair. It’s not like a normal photo or document; you can’t just make a copy. Once that security is triggered, even a computer can’t bring it back."
Luca squinted his eyes, looking out the windshield.
"Hello? Are you still there, boss?" Manuela asked when he didn’t say anything back for a few seconds.
"Manuela, I am," Luca told her, his voice sounding a bit tired. "It’s... Laura and Martin. They’re standing outside waiting."
Manuela stopped talking all of a sudden. There was a quiet silence on her end as her thoughts rang a bell.
"Alright, I won’t stress you a moment more," she eventually said. "You need to get some rest. I’ll email you the vitals and the rest of the ink later."
"Big thanks," Luca replied, and then the call went click.
The driver’s door opened and out stepped the big sports star, squinting his eyes at the mother and child standing by the house’s door. Luca realized right then that Laura was actually really good at listening and being obedient. The last time she came out into the hot sun with Martin to say hi, he had expressed slight disapproval, and now she had already adjusted. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
He didn’t really know how to explain it, but he wasn’t used to girls being so structured and following the rules like that. If it had been his sister Sophia, or even his girlfriend Isabella, they probably would have just come outside anyway and then made a joke about it later. They weren’t really the type to just do exactly what they were told without a little bit of a fight
Luca turned away and opened the back door of the car. He reached inside and grabbed everything at once, carrying them in one big pile. As usual, as soon as he was about ten feet away, Martin recognized him. The little guy started bubbling and bouncing against his mother, making those gurgling noises because he wanted to be carried by the other adult.
It was a sight every man dreams of having.
"You have stayed in my house for two months now. When is your mother going to take you back home?" Luca asked Martin as he blew raspberries into the baby’s stomach, but he was definitely asking Laura the question at the same time.
"We will leave soon," Laura answered as they all walked inside.
"And when is soon? Next month? Fall? Christmas?"
Luca managed to drop the giant pile of bags by the side of a couch while perfectly balancing Martin in one arm at the same time. Sometimes, Laura really wondered just how strong he was to do things like that.
"The house plans are actually starting to happen," Laura started. "Those lawyers you put me in touch with? They’ve been a huge help getting everything squared away. I finally found the perfect plot of land, too. We’ve already started the surveying, so it’s all becoming very real. It’s a lot of work, but I can finally see it all coming together..."
"You want to build?" Luca interrupted.
Laura looked a bit unsure but confirmed that, yes, she wanted to build a whole new house. That only made Luca stare at her like she was a clown.
After the whole country and the Trampos team had donated so much money for the late Ansel Hahn’s son, Laura was basically a millionaire now. It made it even crazier that she was still staying at Luca’s place when she had all that cash. But even with millions, building a house from scratch was basically a bad investment. It takes way too long and costs too much. Luca didn’t understand why she wouldn’t just buy a nice place that was already finished, so she could finally move out and start a new, purposeful life of her own.
