My Football Legends Chat Group-Chapter 42: Mission Summary
"Win!"
The Leeds squad stormed onto the field, shouting and hollering in celebration at the victory. The small pocket of Leeds fans also raised their voices and applauded, cheering for the team that had just snatched a win from the jaws of a draw.
The first place that Rio ran was straight to Mateo with his hands in the air, joy evident in his features. Mateo too felt a rush of excitement as he saw his best friend sprinting towards him.
They embraced each other on the muddy field, needing no words to express their current feelings of accomplishment.
Carlos, who was in the stands, stood up and cheered loudly with Bill. Carlos saw his two boys embracing on the field and a wave of emotions overcame him, causing tears to well up in his eyes.
Bill on the other hand felt impressed. He was happy for what the boys had accomplished, however it was marred by the knowledge that the Championship was a marathon, not a sprint.
His cynical instincts wished that this moment would last forever, yet on the other hand he didn’t want to get their hopes up too high. If Bill were to tell them how brutal the winter fixtures were, it might protect them in the short term, however they would come to resent his negativity.
He stopped himself from sighing, shaking his head to remove the grumpy thoughts threatening to overcome him. Now was not the time to dwell on cold Tuesday nights in Stoke, it was a time of celebration.
Carlos and Bill eventually made their way down to the tunnel area and waited for the kids, as did the other families who were in attendance. Of course this was after the players had finished signing autographs for the "Nando’s kids."
Rio finally laid down on his bed after an exhausting day. The team went and celebrated by going to an Italian restaurant not far from the stadium and stuffing their faces. Remembering the antics of Summerville trying to eat spaghetti with a spoon brought a smile to his face as he stared at the ceiling of his room.
’I hope Mateo and I did enough to get the attention of the manager for the starting XI.’ He thought inwardly.
While winning the first pre-season game was a great achievement in itself, Rio’s main priority was to get a run of starts in the Championship.
Once he stepped onto the pitch for the opening game, he would be able to test himself against the best defenders in the league. But he had to be in the team that would allow him to make an impact in the first place.
In his previous life he had only played sporadic minutes for Girona which had ended rather quickly. Remembering the despair he felt on the bench that day filled him with a burning desire to redeem himself.
"I will make it to the Premier League," He murmured, gripping his fist tightly.
He was filled with confidence, no matter who he played against he would fight his way to the top with his new skills.
The reason for his confidence was currently displayed in front of his face, the Major League System.
CONGRATULATIONS

Rio’s eyes shined as he read the mission summary, trying his best not to scream out in joy. It was a little unfortunate about the physical duels task, however the Harrogate defenders had been way more aggressive than he anticipated.
Now that the game was finished, it was currently rest day tomorrow, yet Rio could not wait for the next training session. Even now despite being tired, he couldn’t wait a single day before retrieving his rewards.
It seemed that now he had upgraded the System, he turned into an even bigger football addict than before.
[Congratulations, you have received:
1200 Major points
1 x B-Grade Agility Elixir
1 x Bronze Lottery Ticket
1 x Silver Lottery Ticket
1 x Gold Lottery Ticket]
Like someone who had a serious loot box problem, Rio jumped straight into the lottery wheels and stared at the small Golden wheel with passionate eyes.
The last time that he had used a Gold item he had been given the "Ferrari Engine," allowing him to run forever. If everything on the wheel was as good as that ability then he would have hit the jackpot.
"Here goes nothing." He murmured, pressing the spin button without hesitation.
The sweet sound of the wheel spinning entered his ears, filling him with expectation.
Finally, the wheel began to decrease in speed until it finally stopped in place.
[Congratulations, user has acquired the skill "Elastic Limbs"]
[Elastic Limbs: Grants you the ability to stretch and contort your body slightly beyond normal limits, improving tackling range and dribbling flexibility.]
At first Rio had been deeply disappointed, however after reading the skill description he suddenly had a change of heart. While it may not sound very helpful for a winger, flexibility was directly tied to his agility and injury prevention.
It could help him ride tackles better, which could increase his durability and even prevent him from getting snapped in the future. He could also make sharper turns when dribbling and improve his evasion by leaps and bounds.
As Rio’s mind was wandering, another notification suddenly appeared in front of him, snapping him out of his reverie.
[With the addition of the new skill, Agility grade has been adjusted accordingly.]
[Congratulations, user has acquired his first S grading and has been awarded 1 x A-grade Mental Elixir]
"Huh? What!?"
Rio quickly went to his status windows and investigated.

"Holy crap, it really is S grade..." Rio mumbled, staring at the blue screen with awe.
Originally he had thought that he would have to wait a long time in order to ascend to the S Grade in any of his attributes. However, it turned out that skills could also have an effect on his attributes, at least those picked up in the Golden Lottery.
There was also the additional reward of the A-grade Mental Elixir which he had coincidentally missed out on thanks to Mateo winning the Man of the Match accolade.
If Rio’s mood could be summed up in one word right now, it would be euphoric.
A big dumb grin was currently painted on his face, showcasing how truly happy he was right now.
"I can’t wait to get on the pitch and try it out..."
However, he still had a few rewards left to use and then it was time for bed. He brought up the silver wheel and used up his Silver Lottery ticket.
[Congratulations, user has acquired the skill "First Time Shot"]
[System has deemed that the skills First Time Shot and Volley Technique are similar, would you like to combine the two? It will cost 100 Major Points to complete.]
[Yes/No]
"Combine?" Rio was a little confused, however the System would probably not have mentioned it if doing so was not beneficial. So after a moment of hesitation, he clicked the yes button.
[100 Major Points have been deducted. New skill "Sniper’s Instinct" has been created.]
[Sniper’s Instinct: Increase shooting accuracy and power by 2 grades when hitting the ball without controlling it first.]
"Oh. My. Goodness." Rio’s jaw opened wide, suddenly feeling giddy.
It was almost human nature to want to take a touch in the box, with only a select few being able to hit it first time with precision. With this Sniper’s Instinct skill, he would be one of those players, a lethal finisher who could punish defenses instantly.
Rio’s heart could almost not handle all of the dopamine that was currently rushing through his body at this moment. Winning the first game first, now being granted these incredible skills.
He felt as if he had somehow won the Champions League. Well, that might actually be the case one day.
There was still one Bronze Lottery ticket left so he clicked the spin button and stared strangely at the wheel. No matter what item he received, it would not change his current mood.
[Congratulations, user has acquired "Basic Energy Gel x3"]
"Ah..."
It seemed as if his luck had finally run out after all of these months. However, he wasn’t too disappointed despite not getting a skill. In the Championship, energy gels would be vital for surviving the 46-game season.
Just thinking about being able to run past the 80th minute filled Rio with a burning desire. Originally he was completely worried about the physical demands of English football, however he was already a much fitter player than he was in his previous life.
With his agility skills, he would no longer be a passenger to any team that he was on. Ironically, his current weakness was his strength abilities, pigeon-holing him to rely on evasion.
Rio let out a big yawn, feeling the effects of the dopamine wear off and revealing his fatigue. It had been a long day full of stressful moments within the game, then there was also the celebrations afterwards.
It was time to get some sleep. But first, he decided to take the Agility Elixir. He didn’t exactly feel like taking the Mental Elixir at this moment, preferring not to experience an excruciating headache right now.
[Are you sure you wish to consume: B-grade Agility Elixir?]
[Yes/No]
"Yes."
As soon as he selected the yes option, Rio felt the familiar electric shocks in his legs. He grit his teeth knowing what was about to happen next.
As he expected, his leg muscles began to twitch and vibrate causing him short but immense bursts of discomfort. No matter how many times he went through this situation, it never got easier.
Only after around 5 minutes of twitching did Rio finally feel some sort of relief. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he turned over and greeted sleep like it was a long lost friend.
