My First Love Died, Now My Step Uncle Wants Me-Chapter 147: You Can Do Whatever You Want
The moment she heard that voice, Nina Wynn couldn’t help but tremble.
Her fear of Caleb Rhodes felt as if it were etched into her very genes, impossible to shake off.
She clearly didn’t want him anymore, but she was still afraid.
She kept her head down, biting her lip, and didn’t turn to look at him.
She didn’t want to look back at him either.
The next second, Finn Prescott tapped her on the forehead and whispered, "Tsk, you’re nothing but trouble all day long!"
"Don’t say the wrong thing. I’ll handle this!"
This seemingly intimate gesture between the two of them caught Caleb Rhodes’s eye. A thick layer of malevolence instantly clouded his already bloodshot eyes.
He stared at Nina Wynn, his gaze as cold as daggers of ice, threatening to carve the very flesh from her bones.
Before Caleb could speak, Cole Prescott, who was behind him, quickly stepped forward and pulled Finn Prescott away. "What do you think you’re doing, you brat? Come back with me! All you do is cause trouble for me day in and day out!"
Finn Prescott shook off his brother’s hand and looked provocatively at Caleb Rhodes. "Nina Wynn and I are close in age, and we have feelings for each other. We can do whatever we want."
"What, does President Rhodes have a problem with that?"
The storm in Caleb Rhodes’s eyes grew more turbulent. He didn’t spare Finn Prescott a single glance, instead walking step by step toward Nina Wynn, an arctic chill radiating from him.
The immense pressure closed in on Nina Wynn bit by bit, and she couldn’t help but shrink back.
But the room was only so big; she had nowhere to hide.
Soon, Caleb Rhodes’s presence enveloped her. He stared at her intently, his voice terrifyingly cold. "Nina Wynn, I’ve been looking for you all night!"
Nina Wynn shivered, her head bowed. She gripped the bedsheet beneath her, not daring to look up at him.
Seeing her silence, Caleb Rhodes touched her soft hair, the color in his eyes growing even colder and darker.
His well-defined fingers slowly traced down her hair. The movement was gentle, but his voice was chillingly cold. "I thought you’d been hit by a car. I went to the morgue to look for you."
Every word was like a shard of ice, so cold that Nina Wynn couldn’t stop trembling.
She was terrified, but her hatred was even stronger!
She didn’t speak, didn’t look up, and certainly didn’t want to see him. Her pale, soft fingers gripped the bedsheet so tightly it seemed she would tear a hole right through it.
Caleb Rhodes narrowed his eyes, a storm raging within them. He suddenly grabbed her chin, forcing her to look up. "Speak!"
The single word was practically a threat.
Finn Prescott couldn’t watch any longer. He rushed forward, pulling at Caleb Rhodes’s hand, and roared, "She doesn’t want to talk, can’t you see that?"
Caleb Rhodes twisted his hand and pried Finn Prescott’s grip away.
The force was so great that Finn Prescott almost couldn’t withstand it.
As a former special forces soldier who had endured countless brutal fights, Finn Prescott had an unusually strong grip. To have his hand forced open like this left him not just surprised, but furious.
"President Rhodes, Nina Wynn doesn’t want to talk. Can’t you tell?"
Caleb Rhodes stared at him coldly, the powerful, oppressive aura of a superior pressing down on Finn Prescott, making him uncomfortable.
Before he could speak again, Caleb Rhodes said icily, "My business with her is none of your concern!"
His voice was thick with warning.
But Finn Prescott wasn’t afraid of him in the slightest. His attitude was firm. "I’m going to make it my business. I’m getting involved in her affairs, and that’s final!"
Caleb Rhodes didn’t speak. He gently stroked the ring on his middle finger as murderous intent began to rise in his eyes.
Beside them, Cole Prescott was alarmed. He pulled Finn Prescott back and said with an apologetic smile, "Caleb, my little brother doesn’t know any better. If he’s done anything wrong, I’ll apologize to you on his behalf!"
"Miss Wynn’s cat wasn’t going to make it, so he brought her and the cat here just to get it treated. Nothing else!"
"Besides, you’ve already checked. They spent the night here. They didn’t go anywhere else!"
He forced a smile. "For my sake, don’t lower yourself to a kid’s level!"
With that, he started dragging Finn Prescott toward the door.
Finn Prescott refused to move, and Cole Prescott couldn’t drag him away. Frustrated, Cole snapped at the bodyguards outside the door, "Are you all dead? A few of you, get in here and get him out!"
Finn Prescott pulled away from his brother and looked at Nina Wynn. In a low voice, he said, "Bro, stay out of this. I can’t even control myself!"
"Bullshit!"
Cole Prescott was furious. He lowered his voice. "This isn’t what you think it is! If you don’t want to get the Prescott Family killed, you’ll come back with me!"
As he spoke, he shot a look at a bodyguard, who stepped forward and chopped down hard on the back of Finn Prescott’s neck.
Before Finn Prescott could turn around, he crumpled to the ground.
Cole Prescott caught him, then turned back to Caleb Rhodes and said in a low voice, "Caleb, my brother was in the wrong. I’ll be sure to visit you personally another day to apologize!"
After speaking, he directed two bodyguards to help Finn Prescott out.
Seeing Finn Prescott collapse, Nina Wynn grew anxious. She pushed Caleb Rhodes aside and ran for the door.
She didn’t make it two steps before she was snatched back.
Caleb Rhodes wrapped his arms around her, his voice as cold as ice. "I’m here. Where do you think you’re going to run?"
Nina Wynn grabbed his wrist and bit down hard.
She used so much force that her body trembled.
Caleb Rhodes watched her without moving, letting her bite him.
Soon, Nina Wynn tasted blood. The metallic tang sobered her up considerably, and she slowly released her jaw.
Caleb Rhodes turned her around to face him.
His slightly rough fingers wiped the blood from her lips before he lifted her up and placed her on the bed.
His gaze lingered for two seconds on the man’s jacket lying on the bed. Veins started popping on his neck, and the cold darkness in his eyes intensified.
But his voice was still restrained. "Where did you sleep last night?"
Nina Wynn looked up at him, frightened by the malevolence in his eyes, but she straightened her back and said softly, "You already know, so why are you asking?"
Caleb Rhodes narrowed his eyes, his hand gripping the bed frame so tightly that the veins on the back of his hand bulged. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
He looked at her, his voice glacial. "Did you sleep with him?"
Nina Wynn looked back at him, biting her lip hard.
Caleb Rhodes’s fingers slowly pried her teeth apart, his voice terrifyingly cold. "You can take a minute to think about it. But if the answer isn’t what I want to hear, the consequences won’t be what you want either!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a few faint meows came from the doorway.
Nina Wynn whipped her head around and saw one of Caleb Rhodes’s men standing at the door, holding a transparent cat carrier. Roy was lying weakly inside.
Panic seized Nina Wynn. She was about to get up but was pushed back down by Caleb Rhodes.
He lifted her delicate chin, then suddenly squeezed it hard, hissing through his teeth, "Speak!"
Nina Wynn hissed in pain, pulling her gaze away from the kitten.
She looked at Caleb Rhodes, a hollow ache spreading through her chest.
After a long moment, she said softly, "President Rhodes, which answer would you like to hear?"
