Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Too Painful

Nina Wynn’s fingertips trembled ever so slightly. Her lowered lashes hid the emotion in her eyes.

She gripped Caleb’s clothes tightly, her voice weary. "Caleb, I’m so sleepy, and my body hurts all over."

As she spoke, she nuzzled her face against his neck in a spoiled manner. "You were so harsh today!"

Her aggrieved voice and expression made Caleb’s heart soften a little more.

This morning, he hadn’t controlled himself. He’d gone on a little too long, not expecting her to get hurt again. The realization had put him in a foul mood.

The thought of the doctor saying this part wasn’t suitable and that part wasn’t a match made anger build in his chest.

Yet he couldn’t unleash it, so he had to hold it back.

Especially when he saw her timidly starting to fear him again. That feeling... It was as if he was experiencing all the frustrations he’d never had to suffer in his twenty-plus years, all at once.

All his life, whatever he wanted, a throng of people would fall over themselves to deliver it to him. No matter what it was, if he desired it, he could have mountains of it. He had never once considered the possibility of not getting something he wanted.

But he never expected that with Nina Wynn, he couldn’t just take what he wanted, and he certainly couldn’t just *have* her whenever he pleased.

After waiting so long, he’d finally gotten a taste, only to hurt her in the process. He was heartbroken, but also suffocatingly frustrated.

Fortunately, she was still docile enough to know she should act cute and try to appease him.

Thinking of this, his tone softened somewhat. "Stay away from that Noelle Landon. She’s a bad influence."

Nina Wynn pressed her face against his neck and murmured, "Not even once in a while? I get so bored all by myself."

Caleb scoffed. "Isn’t it enough that I’m with you every day?"

Nina Wynn said quietly, "But I need friends, too."

Caleb’s voice turned cold. "You have Roy. If he’s not enough, we’ll get you another one."

Nina Wynn fell silent. She pushed herself off him and turned to leave.

’It wasn’t that she wasn’t angry—he was being a total bully!’

’She was a person, not a lump of clay in his hands for him to mold however he pleased.’

The chill in Caleb’s eyes, which had just subsided, began to gather once more.

He reached out and pulled her back, his voice icy. "Where do you think you’re going?"

One hand gripped her waist, pulling her flush against him. His other hand tilted her chin up, forcing her to meet his gaze. "Hm?"

The single syllable was filled with immense pressure.

Nina Wynn kept her eyes down, refusing to look at him. She bit her lip so hard that the small mole on it turned pale.

Caleb’s eyes darkened. He tightened his grip, forcing her jaw open. "I told you. No biting!"

A sudden wave of indignation washed over Nina Wynn, and the rims of her eyes reddened. "I don’t want to be in a relationship anymore!"

The air suddenly grew colder.

Nina Wynn kept her head down and said resentfully, "You hurt me, and you won’t let me have friends. I don’t want to be with you."

Even though he knew she was just throwing a tantrum, Caleb’s chest went cold for a second. It felt as if someone had reached in and tugged something out, leaving behind a dull, chilling emptiness.

He stared at her lips, now glistening from where she’d bitten them, and his voice was utterly frigid. "Nina Wynn, say that again. I dare you."

The darkness in his eyes deepened, carrying a palpable viciousness. He stared at Nina Wynn, looking as if he would crush the life out of her if she dared utter another word.

Nina Wynn didn’t dare look at him.

Of course, she knew he was furious.

’Whether he liked her or was just playing with her didn’t matter. He was the kind of person who never allowed anyone to be the one to reject him first.’

’He was like a great predator. Once something in its territory was branded as its own, it didn’t matter if the predator liked it or even had a use for it. Only the predator could discard it; the thing itself could not leave, and it certainly couldn’t be snatched away by another!’

So, Nina Wynn’s words had touched Caleb’s most sensitive nerve.

He gripped her chin hard, his tone as if it had been frozen in ice. "No one has ever dared to speak to me like this!"

"Nina Wynn, take back what you just said!"

Nina Wynn just bit her lip stubbornly and said nothing, her pale, soft hands clenched into tight fists.

The wound on her palm, which had only just started to heal, split open from the pressure, and blood began to seep out.

Her defiance thoroughly enraged Caleb, and a vein bulged on his neck.

He fought for control, resisting the urge to wrap his hands around her throat.

’That slender neck... with just a little force, he could snap it in two.’

His face was a cold mask, the viciousness in his eyes plain to see. His jaw clenched tight as he bit out, "Nina Wynn, take back what you just said!"

But Nina Wynn remained motionless, her head bowed, her lip nearly bitten through.

Caleb stared at her, his chest rising and falling. He was clearly trying his utmost to restrain himself.

Nina Wynn suddenly said in a small voice, "You broke your promise. You said it wouldn’t hurt, but it still did. And you won’t let my friends visit me. So I’m taking back what I said. I don’t want to be with you anymore. We’re breaking up!"

Her voice was small and soft, but it held a core of unyielding will.

She looked soft, but in reality, she was incredibly stubborn.

The veins on Caleb’s neck throbbed with anger. He narrowed his eyes, then suddenly grabbed her by the waist, lifting her and draping her over his arm like a helpless little quail.

He strode out, his voice cold. "Nina Wynn, I’ve been far too indulgent with you. If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll never learn what you can and cannot say!"

Nina Wynn was draped over his arm, her body swaying precariously.

The sudden loss of balance sent a jolt of panic through her, and she kicked out at Caleb in her fright. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Caleb was already furious, and seeing her struggle so fiercely with that same stubborn, unrepentant look on her face...

His chest heaved with rage. He strode over to the sofa, sat down, and pulled Nina onto his lap. He raised his hand, and his palm fell squarely on her bottom.

It was followed by several more hard slaps, delivered fast and sharp, like an adult disciplining a disobedient child.

Nina Wynn froze for a second, then was rendered speechless with rage, a sharp pain accompanying her shock.

Almost instinctively, she grabbed his hand and bit down hard.

She bit with so much force that her own body trembled, and the coppery taste of blood soon filled her mouth.

When she came to her senses, she let go, looking at Caleb in horror.

All she saw was the unmistakable viciousness in his eyes and his completely expressionless face.

Her body trembled, and she instinctively scrambled to her feet to run away.

She hadn’t even taken two steps before Caleb yanked her back by the collar of her shirt.

His face was contorted with anger, his voice as cold as ice. "Nina Wynn, I haven’t had to resort to discipline with you before, but you’re asking for it!"

With that, he started hauling Nina Wynn toward the hallway.

Nina Wynn was terrified. She struggled desperately, trying to run, but Caleb had her arms pinned behind her back, leaving only her legs free to kick wildly.

Caleb took several kicks, which only made him angrier. He strode to the door of a small room and kicked it open.
