My First Love Died, Now My Step Uncle Wants Me-Chapter 101: Her Lip Bitten Raw
Nina Wynn glanced at Caleb Rhodes, thinking he looked quite young today—younger than usual, at least. ’So why did that person think he was her uncle?’
Still, he was, nominally, her uncle. So, she answered honestly, "He’s my uncle."
But the man didn’t seem to be after Caleb Rhodes’s contact info. Pointing aside, he smiled. "Good, as long as you’re not a couple. Someone wants your number."
Nina Wynn looked up and saw a strikingly fashionable, handsome young man waving at her.
She felt extremely awkward.
No one had ever asked for her number before, and she was terrible at being hit on. All she could do was say awkwardly, "I don’t have a phone."
She wasn’t lying. Her daily phone usage was restricted, and her allotted time for the day hadn’t started yet. Besides, Caleb Rhodes was holding onto her phone right now.
The man clearly didn’t believe her. Just as he was about to say something, Caleb Rhodes walked over.
He saw the young man smiling at Nina Wynn, and his expression instantly turned cold.
He started to regret bringing her to the main floor.
There were too many people. On the way here, not only had he been asked for his number several times, but he also had to fend off young men asking for Nina Wynn’s.
From the moment they got out of the car, eyes had been on her nonstop.
As a man, he knew all too well what those looks meant.
Before this, because of Zyler Rhodes, almost no one had dared to show interest in Nina Wynn.
’This silly girl... she probably has no idea how beautiful she is, let alone how much appeal she holds for men.’
Caleb Rhodes strode forward and grabbed Nina Wynn’s wrist, his voice cold. "What are you doing, dawdling here? Keep up."
Nina Wynn breathed a sigh of relief and quickly followed Caleb Rhodes.
The young man panicked when he saw Nina Wynn being pulled away.
He hurried after them. "You’re in high school, right? Which one?"
"Hey, why aren’t you talking? Don’t go, let’s exchange numbers!"
"Which university do you want to go to? How about I help you get in?"
...
Nina Wynn hated being followed and didn’t know how to react. Annoyed by his persistence, she turned and said, "Please stop following me. I don’t have an account."
Her voice was gentle. Even when she was upset, she spoke softly, her tone adorably fierce.
The young man found this even more endearing. "Who doesn’t have social media these days?" he pressed.
Nina Wynn ignored him and kept walking.
Before long, they had reached the elevators.
Seeing that Nina Wynn was about to get into an elevator, the young man, unwilling to give up, stepped forward to try again.
At that moment, Caleb Rhodes suddenly turned and stared coldly at the young man.
An overwhelming pressure, the kind that comes from someone in a position of power, washed over the young man, forcing him to take a step back.
The icy darkness in Caleb Rhodes’s eyes, in particular, was so intense that the young man felt he was about to lose his nerve.
However, his male pride wouldn’t let him back down so easily.
He looked at Nina Wynn and said, "You might be getting the wrong idea. I’m not a bad person, and I’m not a creep. This is the first time I’ve ever asked a girl for her number. I really like you, and I think I’ll regret it if I let this chance slip by, so..."
Caleb Rhodes cut him off, his voice hard as ice. "You have one minute. Get lost."
The young man was, in fact, rather intimidated. Caleb Rhodes didn’t seem like an ordinary person; his presence was so powerful that it was hard to even look him in the eye.
But he didn’t come from an ordinary family himself, so he retorted defiantly, "Sir, you’re her elder, I get it. But you were young once, too. Please have some consideration for a young man’s feelings."
’Sir? Elder?’
Caleb Rhodes narrowed his eyes, pulled Nina Wynn in front of him, and leaned down to kiss her on the lips.
Then, under the young man’s astonished gaze, he said coldly, "See that? I’m her man!"
As he finished speaking, the elevator doors slid open. He wrapped an arm around Nina Wynn and steered her inside.
The young man watched them in disbelief, muttering, "Impossible... She said you were her uncle..."
In the moment before the elevator doors closed, he saw Caleb Rhodes pull Nina Wynn into his embrace, kissing her so hard she looked unsteady on her feet.
Inside the elevator, Nina Wynn could clearly feel that Caleb Rhodes was angry.
During that kiss, he had bitten her lip hard enough to break the skin.
She didn’t understand why he was angry. It was his idea to come to the mall.
And she hadn’t given that guy her number.
Besides, he was still clutching her phone in his hand!
Her screen time was limited every single day; she felt like his personal marionette. What else could he possibly be unhappy about?
As she thought about it, she started to feel unhappy too.
She hadn’t been out in so long and had actually been a little excited. But that incident had completely ruined her mood, and now she had lost all interest.
Neither of them spoke. The atmosphere in the elevator was tense.
Fortunately, they soon arrived at the fifth floor.
They had just stepped out of the elevator when a little boy, about three or four years old, came charging over. Nina Wynn wasn’t paying attention and stumbled when he ran into her.
Caleb Rhodes reached out to steady her. Before he could say anything, the little boy piped up in a childish voice, "Sorry, miss!" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Then he caught sight of Caleb Rhodes’s cold, grim face and shrank back in fear. "Miss, your dad is really scary!"
’Dad?’
Nina Wynn froze, looking up at Caleb Rhodes. His expression was even worse than before.
Just as she was about to speak, the little boy’s mother hurried over.
She picked up her son and said to Nina Wynn, "I’m so sorry, my child was running around and bumped into you."
Nina Wynn waved her hand. "It’s fine."
After a few more apologies, the woman said to her son, "Say goodbye to the miss and the mister!"
The little boy obediently replied, "Goodbye, Miss! Goodbye, Mister!"
Watching the mother and son depart, Nina Wynn felt her scalp prickle with dread.
’I think I know why Caleb Rhodes is angry now.’
She tugged on Caleb Rhodes’s sleeve and said in a small voice, "Uncle... you’re not old."
The words had barely left her lips when Caleb Rhodes suddenly swept her up into his arms and strode toward a lounge area.
Even though they were on the fifth floor—the luxury brand section—Elysian City was never short on wealthy people, so the area was still quite crowded.
Caleb Rhodes was also incredibly handsome, so he naturally drew a lot of attention as he passed.
Especially with Nina Wynn being carried in his arms like that, even more people stared.
Nina Wynn was not one for public displays of affection. Being carried like this made her face turn so red she felt it might explode.
She buried her face in Caleb Rhodes’s shoulder, her voice urgent. "There are so many people! Someone we know might see us! Uncle, put me down!"
But there was no way Caleb Rhodes would let her go.
He was tall with long legs and large strides. In just a few steps, he carried her into a lounge.
The lounge wasn’t large. The curtains were drawn, and it was a bit dark inside.
He reached back and locked the door, then set Nina Wynn down on a table against the wall. Cupping the back of her head, he forced her to meet his gaze.
In the dim light, his chest rose and fell, and his voice was terrifyingly cold. "Is that the kind of guy you like?"
