My Fiancé's Scandals Never End, So I Married His Uncle Instead-Chapter 42: Exclusive Customization
"There is no possibility whatsoever of cooperation between me and Second Young Master Sutton." Summer Sutton’s face was cold as she tried to get rid of him. "Take your hundred million and go. If word of this reaches the Ninth Master’s ears, you might not be able to leave."
"If the Ninth Master truly cared about you, why would he leave you to fend for yourself in Oakhaven?" Second Young Master Sutton chuckled. "My dear sister, you can’t even protect yourself right now. You’d be better off working with me. You don’t have to do much, just side with your second brother as a shareholder. Once I’m in control of the Sutton Family, you’ll be the eldest young miss of the Suttons. Why would you still need to be some actress in the entertainment industry?"
"I’ve already told you, the shares are not in my possession." Summer Sutton remained unmoved. "As for my relationship with the Ninth Master, I don’t need Second Young Master Sutton trying to drive a wedge between us."
"Wyatt Sutton has already made contact with the Ninth Master." Second Young Master Sutton’s face darkened. "That mad dog Wyatt Sutton is in touch with the Ninth Master, and they’re preparing to devour your shares together. Sister, you’d better think this through. Stick with me, and I guarantee I won’t touch a single one of your shares. I’ll even welcome you back to the Sutton Family in grand style. But if Wyatt succeeds, not only will your shares be gone, do you really think a heartless man like the Ninth Master will still care about you?"
"The Ninth Master is not that kind of person. But as for you, Second Young Master Sutton, I can tell the difference between a man and a monster."
"Are you so sure the Ninth Master will always protect you, little sister?" Second Young Master Sutton changed his tune. "A while ago, I used the wrong methods, and they made you uncomfortable. But my tactics were just minor threats and tracking—child’s play. Wyatt Sutton, on the other hand... you should know what he’s like. That man is truly out for blood. And if he teams up with the ruthless and heartless Ninth Master... Sister, I’m genuinely worried that the only thing I’ll be able to do for you then is collect your ashes."
"You don’t need to stir up trouble, Second Brother." Summer Sutton showed him the door. "The Ninth Master has protected me for over ten years. I know what kind of person he is better than anyone else. I just sent him a message. Metropia isn’t far from Oakhaven. If you’d like to stay for tea, be warned that the tea served by the Ninth Master is not a pleasant drink."
Second Young Master Sutton’s expression flickered, but he quickly composed himself.
He stood up, slowly putting on his mask and hat, but he left the contract behind. "Since you like the Ninth Master so much, little sister, I’ll do you another favor."
He paused and gave a meaningful smile. "Besides everything I just promised, back in the day, Mrs. Sutton—oh, I mean your biological mother, little sister—personally signed a marriage contract between you and the Ninth Master. It’s at the Sutton Residence in Port Sovereign."
Summer Sutton’s heart skipped a heavy beat. "I don’t believe you."
"Believe it or not," Second Young Master Sutton scoffed lightly, "why don’t you come to the Sutton Residence and see for yourself when you have time, little sister? Of course, whether it’s a marriage contract or a piece of scrap paper all depends on whose side you’re on..."
With that, he swaggered away.
Summer Sutton sat stunned in her chair, not moving for a long time.
’A marriage contract with Kian Sterling?’
’If there’s a contract, how could he possibly be unwilling to marry me? Why hasn’t he mentioned it even once in all these years?’
But even knowing this was likely a verbal trap set by Second Young Master Sutton, she couldn’t help the immense emotional turmoil it stirred within her.
She had dreamed of marrying Kian Sterling for too long—so long that it had become an obsession.
After a good while, she finally calmed down and dialed Kian Sterling’s number.
As always, it was his assistant, Evan Rhodes, who answered. "Miss Sutton, the Boss is busy and doesn’t have time to come to Oakhaven, but he’s aware of the matter with Second Young Master Sutton and has already sent someone to issue a warning."
"He won’t even come..." Summer Sutton closed her eyes. "Isn’t he afraid I’ll be torn to shreds by Brian Sutton on the spot?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end. "Miss Sutton, with the Ninth Master’s current level of deterrence, Second Young Master Sutton wouldn’t dare to touch you."
「Nightfall.」
Kian Sterling returned to the villa and ran into Celia Sterling, who was just about to head out.
She seemed to have just bathed and was dressed in a vibrant, youthful style, though her eye makeup was a bit too heavy.
Kian Sterling glanced at her. "What were you doing at home all day? Your dark circles are so heavy."
Celia Sterling replied guiltily, "Oh. Quinn Sinclair came over, and we played mobile games all afternoon. Brother, have you eaten dinner? If not, I can eat a little with you before I go."
Kian Sterling sat down on the sofa. Assistant Evan Rhodes followed him in with a stack of files, greeting Celia Sterling and casually remarking:
"Miss Sterling, the Boss heard you had a poor appetite today, so he dropped his work and rushed back. He hasn’t had dinner yet."
Nearby, the butler had already instructed the maids to fill the dining table, and said respectfully, "Chairman Sterling, Miss, dinner is ready. It’s all been prepared according to Assistant Rhodes’s instructions—all of the young miss’s favorite dishes."
Celia Sterling was instantly overcome with guilt!
’I was binge-reading smut fics about my own brother and Silas with that bad influence of a friend, Quinn Sinclair, so engrossed that I didn’t even feel like eating. Yet Kian Sterling, just because he heard I had a poor appetite, had skipped dinner himself and dropped a mountain of work to rush back. If I remember correctly, he had a shareholder meeting and a very important port strategy meeting tonight.’
"Brother!" Celia Sterling took the initiative to hug his arm, feeling both touched and remorseful. "Brother, let me get you a bowl of rice."
At the dining table, she eagerly served him rice and soup and even clumsily tried to peel shrimp for him. Kian Sterling ate a little, sizing her up. "Dressed like that, are you going out?"
"I have plans with Silas tonight."
"This late?" Kian Sterling glanced at his watch. It was almost eleven at night. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"I was the one who asked him out," Celia Sterling said. She then turned, opened an exquisite gift box, took out a bottle of perfume, and spritzed it in the air near Kian Sterling. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at him. "Brother, smell this. Do you think this scent suits Silas?"
A very faint, cool fragrance filled the air. It was reserved, deep, and incredibly complex—nothing like the passionate, bold style she usually created.
"You only made one bottle?" Kian Sterling frowned slightly. "What, now that you have a fiancé, you can’t be bothered to prepare one for your brother?"
"Didn’t I just give you three bottles of Celestial Brightmoon?" Celia Sterling blinked. "I could forget anyone, but never my brother! It’s just that this perfume is too cool and aloof. It doesn’t suit a passionate person like you. I’m custom-making another one for you. It’s not finished yet, but I’ve already thought of a name: ’Cinnabar.’ I plan to launch it at the new product release on the 9th of next month. The socialites in the Capital Circle will probably go crazy fighting over it! But my brother is a priceless treasure, so I have to sell it for an absurdly high price."
Kian Sterling: "..."
His devilishly handsome features held a heavy sense of resignation. "Nonsense. You just try selling it."
"Then I won’t sell it. I’ll just make two bottles, one for my collection and one for yours." Celia Sterling’s bright eyes crinkled with a smile as she put the perfume away. "I’m off then? I promise I’ll be back before midnight."
"Take a few more bodyguards." Kian Sterling paused. "It’s fine if you come back a little later, but don’t get into any trouble."
Celia Sterling hummed in agreement. Thinking again about how Kian Sterling had rushed back from so far away just for her, she gave him an affectionate hug from behind. "Brother, I’ll bring you back some Yanyun Rolls from your favorite place later."
The "big lizard," escorted by several bodyguard cars, quickly disappeared into the night.
The faint, cool, and melancholic fragrance still lingered in the air.
It was a scent that had nothing to do with Kian Sterling.
Kian Sterling stared into the deep night, silent for a long time.
Assistant Evan Rhodes still held the work documents that Kian Sterling needed to work overtime to finish. Standing behind Kian Sterling, he felt a little conflicted.
’This afternoon, a call came from Oakhaven. The Boss was not only unmoved, he didn’t even want to take the call. Yet he dropped everything important just because Miss Sterling wasn’t eating properly. It was clear just how much he doted on his younger sister.’
Evan Rhodes, feeling the slightly suffocating pressure in the air, asked in a low voice:
"Boss, are you all right?"
"Fine. Why wouldn’t I be?"
Kian Sterling casually pulled off his stylish, magenta jacket, which was adorned with fine, glittering threads. His voice was lazy and languid. "Now that she has a fiancé, the role of ’brother’ has to learn to slowly exit the stage."
With that, he tossed the jacket onto the sofa and went upstairs without a backward glance.
