My Ex-Wife Disappeared for Years and Had My Babies-Chapter 86 - 78 Decision Based on Human Sentiment
Chapter 86 -78 Decision Based on Human Sentiment
“Lanlan, what’s wrong?”
The voice on the other end was very anxious and even had a hint of crying, but it was clear it was Wei Lan: “Sister Niannian, Zhenzhen has a fever, she’s at the hospital now, crying for Mom, what should we do?”
“Fever?”
“Yes, it’s almost 40 degrees.”
From the other end of the phone, Su Zhen’s cries could be heard, sobbing and calling for Mom, it made Su Nian’s heart ache.
“I will come back as soon as possible. Is Yi Zhou there? Comfort Zhenzhen in the meantime…”
...
Su Nian hung up the phone, sleep completely gone, her two children had been frail from a young age, especially Su Zhen, and Su Zhen was particularly averse to hospitals, crying at the sight of needles and running from medicine.
While she was worrying about what to do, the lights in the room suddenly turned on.
Shen Hanxiu had gotten up at some point, and while picking up his phone, he softly told Su Nian, “Pack the things in the cupboard.”
Su Nian was startled, then saw him dialing a number, instructing the other end: “Two tickets to Feimai City, the fastest ones.”
Only then did Su Nian understand that they were going back, and for the first time, she felt Shen Hanxiu had made a right and empathetic decision.
She got out of bed and began packing.
The flight was at two o’clock at night, about half an hour from now. She didn’t know how he had managed to get tickets, but as long as they could leave, it was fine.
On the way, he also became much more serious, taking the initiative to carry the luggage, while she held some light documents.
Once on the plane, there was nothing to see outside in the pitch black, and during the five-hour flight, Su Nian spent the first two hours worrying about Su Zhen, then couldn’t stay awake and fell asleep the last three.
When she woke up, she didn’t know when her head had ended up resting on his shoulder, and there was an additional thin blanket over her.
Before 7 AM, the plane landed and Yang Zichen was there to meet them and took them straight to the hospital.
“Sister Niannian! You came so quickly?!”
“Where’s Zhenzhen?”
“She just fell asleep, but the fever has not subsided yet.”
Su Nian pushed open the door and saw Su Zhen lying on the white hospital bed, an IV needle in her arm; her eyelashes still damp, her body still twitching from crying all night.
Su Bao was sitting by the bed, holding Su Zhen’s little hand.
“Mom.”
Su Nian touched Su Bao’s head: “Have you slept?”
Su Bao shook his head: “I’m not sleepy.”
“Go sleep for a bit, Mom’s here.”
Su Bao stubbornly shook his head, saying: “If I don’t hold my sister’s hand, she will cry, she just fell asleep.”
Shen Hanxiu stood at the doorway, watching Su Nian’s frail figure, wishing he could shield her behind him, bear all the hardship himself. But now, he somewhat didn’t know how to intervene in her joys and sorrows, only able to keep her in his life in an irrational manner and as a superior.
Children getting sick certainly wasn’t a first, in nights unknown to him, she might have also anxiously endured alone in the hospital with the two kids.
Suffering alone, enduring the exhaustion alone…
“Sister Niannian, I’ll go out and buy some breakfast.”
“You’ve worked hard, Lanlan.” She probably hasn’t rested all night because of Su Zhen.
Lanlan then guiltily confessed to her: “Sister Niannian, it’s actually my fault Su Zhen caught a cold, I let her play with water… It’s all my fault…”
Su Nian shook her head smilingly to comfort her: “What child doesn’t get sick? Besides, Zhenzhen is so mischievous, how could we blame you? I should thank you for helping take care of my two kids.”
Wei Lan was almost in tears: “Sister Niannian… I will go buy breakfast first, Zhenzhen must be hungry when she wakes up.”
Wei Lan walked out, and Yang Zichen paused at the door, then spoke up: “I’ll drive you.”
The two had grown closer after spending a couple of days together with the kids, and Wei Lan realized that Yang Zichen wasn’t as cold as he seemed, he was totally clueless!
But his every move was still very charming. Wei Lan paused, hesitating before responding: “Okay.”
Su Nian picked up Su Bao, placing him beside Su Zhen, and covered him with a blanket: “You sleep for a bit, Mom will go to your school to ask for leave later.”

“Mom, sister feels so hot.”
“It’s okay, your sister will get better.” Su Nian smiled as she touched Su Bao, then reached out to feel Su Zhen’s forehead when suddenly a hand appeared around her waist, pulling her back slightly.
“Go call Doctor Yang Ming.” His large hand gently released her, tenderly stroking her head as if comforting her that everything would be alright.
Her heart warmed slightly, then she turned and walked outside.
Yang Ming was the father of Yang Zichen and Yang Zijing, a doctor of great renown, usually very hard to book an appointment with. In the past when Su Nian was ill, Shen Han often had him come to treat her.
