My Ex-Wife Disappeared for Years and Had My Babies-Chapter 19 - Sister Niannian, your husband must be very handsome, right?
Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Sister Niannian, your husband must be very handsome, right?
Shen Hanxiu’s tone was very light, but somehow the air filled with a hint of jealousy.
Su Nian glanced at her cellphone screen, bitterly resenting him for thinking he could do whatever he wanted just because he had power.
Given that she was being watched and Wei Lan was also present, Su Nian dared not speak too freely and responded with formulaic politeness, “President Shen, after handling official matters do you also manage employees’ private affairs?”
He elaborated pompously, “Caring for employees should start with the small things; understanding their lives better can facilitate assistance in their work.”
“Thanks for your concern, President Shen, but I don’t need help. If you’re so free, perhaps you could help the auntie collect the dishes over there,” Su Nian replied irritably.
Shen Hanxiu looked at her with a smile that was not quite a smile, as if wearing a human skin mask, covering all his emotions. He only uttered one name: “Liang Yizhou,” then stood up and left.
...
Lin Weilan was shocked, thinking that the big boss actually went to collect dishes, but then saw him stride out of the restaurant, leaving behind a gaze that lingered.
What’s going on recently? When did the usually aloof Mr. Shen become so approachable? Which siren is that junior accountant from the finance department?
After being dumbfounded, Lin Weilan asked Su Nian, “Sister Niannian, your husband must be very handsome, right?”
Su Nian paused her chopsticks. There’d be endless probing about her three-year-old child if she said she had no husband, so she just smiled without saying anything.
Wei Lan continued to marvel, “I’ve never seen President Shen care so much about a person, and what’s more bizarre is that you don’t appreciate it!”
Su Nian didn’t know how to respond, and Wei Lan continued to reflect on her own, “President Shen must fancy you, but it’s tough for you. Wouldn’t it have been better if you weren’t married? Seeing how earnestly President Shen is, you might as well just agree to be with him.” She pondered for a moment before adding, “Sister Niannian, does President Shen even know that you’re married? Maybe you should tell him; it’s sad looking at him pining.”
Su Nian: “…” It’s unbelievable that anyone would find that man pitiful!
In the tastefully decorated restaurant, a man in a neat black suit and glasses walked in; it was Shen Hanxiu’s special assistant, Yang Zichen.
He approached Shen Hanxiu and sat opposite him, handing over a folder, “Here are the documents you asked for.”
Shen Hanxiu didn’t reach out to take them, but simply said one word: “Nian.”
Yang Zichen was taken aback and confusedly asked, “Su Nian?”
Shen Hanxiu glared at him and repeated, “Nian’s information!”
Yang Zichen, looking naïve and scholarly with a hint of sternness in his expression, obeyed Shen Hanxiu’s command, “Liang Yizhou, male, twenty-eight, design director at UK’s JM fashion…”
Shen Hanxiu thought to himself, not a poor artist? But a design director at JM? This Su Nian has good taste; the men she’s involved with are quite something.
Yang Zichen continued reading from the documents a list of awards won by Liang Yizhou. Listening to his rival’s notable achievements, President Shen was not pleased and interrupted Yang Zichen’s “award speech” to ask, “Married?”
“Unmarried.”
Shen Hanxiu pondered, then took the folder from his hand, and upon seeing Liang Yizhou’s picture, his frown deepened; quite handsome… but not as much as him! With just that, he thinks he can pursue Su Nian?
“When is Yang Zijing coming back?”
Suddenly changing the topic, Yang Zichen paused before responding, “Next week.”
Shen Hanxiu took a sip of tea before stating, “I will personally handle tonight’s contract.”
Yang Zijing looked puzzled—such a small deal usually didn’t require his personal attention. But knowing his boss’s eccentric nature, Yang Zichen simply nodded in agreement.
