My Evil Crown Prince-Chapter 82: Lucas And Brie Part 3
Lucas was ten, and she was four when they first met. They both grew up in a complicated family. She felt that Lucas didn’t like her, but her heart felt light when talking to him.
"You’re kind."
Lucas frowned. "What? Me? Kind? Maybe. Four years ago. Now, all I could think of was revenge."
"Y-You want to kill the Mafia?"
Lucas nodded. "Benjamin Miller. I heard he’s the boss. He killed innocent people and messed up our lives. My parents, your parents, Alira, Caden, you, and I are all Benjamin’s pawns."
"W-What do you mean, pawns?" She asked.
"This is his game. And we are the players. Do you think he will stop hurting us? No. He won’t. No one on both sides admitted defeat. I heard my parents talking about him. They were trying to find him. He needed to be found at all cost because dad said Benjamin is planning something big."
Brie’s heart pounded by Lucas’ words and reaction. She knew he wasn’t bluffing. The Mafia boss was a dangerous man that they needed to capture.
"I-If they catch him, can we live happily ever after?" She asked innocently.
Lucas stared at the little girl on the other swing. She looked innocent and naïve. He heard her parents talking about her and said that she might know one of the places Benjamin could be hiding. When he learned that she had run away, he wanted to find her and force her to tell him about Benjamin Miller.
Looking at her now, asking that question. He knew she really knew something about the man who caused pain to his twin sister.
"Of course! Everyone will be safe. Do you know something about Benjamin Miller?"Lucas asked.
Brie stared at Lucas then blinked twice. She gulped, then nodded at him.
Lucas’ face lit up. He walked closer to her and then grabbed her hand.
"W-Where are we going?" She asked.
"To your parents. You need to go home." Lucas said.
"B-But I want to go out. Do you have money?" She asked.
Lucas stopped walking and then turned to Brie with a frowned face. Her heart suddenly pounded seeing his serious face.
"What? Where do you want to go?"
"McDonald’s"
Lucas suddenly laughed. He thought she wanted to run away from home, so never did he expect her answer.
"Fine. I’ll treat you there." He said.
Brie’s face lit up. She stared at Lucas, waiting for him as he dialled a number on his phone.
"I need to go out." He paused.
"McDonald’s. With Brie."
After a few minutes, a few men in black came and she knew they were Lucas’ bodyguards.
"We can’t go out without an adult, so they will take us to McDonald’s." He said.
Brie nodded and let Lucas guide her toward a black car.
Andrew sighed as he watched his daughter go inside the car with Luke’s son, Lucas.
"How could she go with him just like that? She didn’t even know him." He ranted.
Luke chuckled. "Are you jealous of my son?"
Andrew glared at his friend.
"Well, yeah. He basically kidnapped my daughter."
"What? Kidnapped? Your daughter willingly went inside the car."
Andrew sighed. "It’s hard being a father. I felt like Brie needed someone like James. I’m not a good dad, Luke."
Like tapped his shoulder, and smiled.
"Hey, you just started being her father. No one would blame you if you made a mistake. She didn’t exist in your life for four years. You didn’t know you had a daughter. Don’t give up, and don’t rush things. They said anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special a dad. Maybe Brie doesn’t need a father, she needs her dad."
Andrew was quiet while they were following the car where the kids were. He was thinking of what Luke said. Maybe he was too busy trying to be a father to Brie, that he forgot to ask her what she wanted.
When she told Lucas that she wanted to go to McDonald’s, he realized he never brought her to one. He would bring Nina and Brie to fancy restaurants, but he forgot that she was a child.
She would enjoy eating in McDonald’s, rather than having lunch or dinner at expensive fine dining. For four years, she was kept in a mansion and a lot of things in the outside world were very new to Brie. He should have asked her about the things she wanted to do, places she wanted to go, and the food she was craving.
’Beep.’
He took his phone to check who texted him. He smiled seeing who it was.
’Did you find her? I’m worried.’ It was Nina.
’Yes. She’s with Lucas. He found her and they are going to Mcdonald’s. She asked Lucas to bring her there. Did she love the food there?’ Sent.
’She has never been to one. But she always tells me that she wants to go there. Please bring her back, love.’
’I will, baby. Don’t worry.’
Andrew sighed again. How could he miss something important? He thought inwardly.
"Will you stop sighing?" Luke scolded him.
"I’m worried. What would you do if Alira run away with a boy?"
"It would never happen. She’s too in love with Caden. Can you imagine? She’s ten! But all she could blab about is that crown prince!"
"Are you jealous?" Andrew chuckled.
Like glared at him. "I’m not!"
"You can’t blame her. Caden was her first friend. He helped her come out of her shell. She was like your wife before she met Caden, all of us thought she would grow up like her mother."
"Yeah. You’re right, but with Caden gone, I’m afraid she would be like Alora. So I was hoping Brie would like to be Alira’s friend."
"She will love that."
The car stopped in front of McDonald’s and Andrew saw Brie go inside with Lucas. Luke’s driver parked where they could see the kids.
It was midnight, but the store was opened twenty-four hours and Like made sure that only the kids would be the customer.
The bodyguards surrounded the area to protect them if anything happened.
"Why are we alone? Where are the other customers?" Brie asked curiosity piqued.
"Dad would not allow us to come here all by ourselves. It’s dangerous, so I asked him to rent the store for two hours."
"Wow! Your dad is amazing!" Brie said amused.
Like and Andrew could hear the kids’ conversation. The bodyguards had a mini microphone on them so their fathers’ could listen to them.
Andrew was slightly jealous of the way Brie complimented Luke. He sighed when he heard his daughter tell Lucas that his father was amazing. He could not remember if Brie said those words to him, or if she was satisfied with him as her father.
"How about your dad? Isn’t he amazing, too?" Lucas asked.
Andrew held his breath, waiting for Brie’s answer. But all he heard was a sigh.
"What? Why didn’t you answer? Is he bad?" Lucas continued to ask.
"H–He’s not. He’s too kind."
"Then why do you look like that?"
"Dad is too kind for mom and me. I think he didn’t deserve us."
Andrew was surprised by what Brie said. Why did she think that way? Was it because of what happened to him and Nina?
"How could you say that?’ Lucas asked again.
" They told me about what my mom did to my dad and their friends. Dad didn’t know about me. But I always knew that I had a different father. When I was with my other dad, I was happy and felt safe." She paused.
"So, are you saying you love James more than Uncle Andrew?" Lucas frowned.
Brie shook her head. "No! But I felt guilty. I was happy with my other father while my real father suffered because of what mom did."
Then Brie started crying. "I’m a bad girl. My dad deserves a good daughter."
Luke glanced at Andrew and saw tears from his eyes. He suddenly ran out of the car and went inside McDonald’s to comfort his daughter.
Luke stopped Andrew from coming inside McDonald’s. He already had a plan and ordered Lucas when called him earlier. Andrew might ruin it if he would suddenly show up in front of his daughter.
"Andrew, let’s leave them for a while. Brie needs someone she could trust."
"Are you telling me that I’m not that someone?" He frowned.
"Right now, your daughter needs someone she could open up with. Right now, it’s not you or Nina. Brie is like Alira before she met Caden. You know that, right?" Luke said.
"Do you think Lucas could be Brie’s Caden?" Andrew asked.
Luke didn’t say a word, but he nodded. "I believe. Yes."
"But Lucas doesn’t like her because of what happened in Flousia." He said. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Are you worried?" Luke asked.
"Of course! Who wouldn’t? I don’t want her to get hurt." Andrew sighed.
