My Evil Crown Prince-Chapter 58: Work For Me
"Do you trust my brother that much?" Alira asked Brie.
Caden just challenged Lucas to a fight in exchange for A.E Headquarters. She understood it wasn’t a simple decision to make, so Lucas couldn’t just lend it to anyone.
She wanted to stop the two, but Brie did not allow her. Instead, she told her what happened after they hang out with her friends.
It wasn’t necessary for Brie to tell her about it, but she still listened to her. She was actually surprised that Brie asked Lucas to be her first kiss.
"How about you? Do you trust Caden?" Brie answered her with a question.
"Brie, I’m asking because you seemed willing to give everything to him. I trust Caden since twelve years ago, and although he changed a lot, I know in my heart how badly he wanted to protect everyone." She said.
Brie sighed. "Alira, I am going to give everything to Lucas, even my life. Maybe everyone thinks I’m crazy to think that way. But what can I do? I can’t live without him. I was really happy when he kissed me, and I felt like there was hope."
She frowned. "Hope?"
Brie nodded. "When he kissed me, it felt like he loves me. So I’m not going to give up. And I will support him with all my heart."
She sighed. It was too obvious that Lucas was in love. Brie was the only one who couldn’t see it. Even though he had rejected her more than sixty times, she still loved him so much. But those rejections made her numb to even feel Lucas’s true feelings.
"Let’s not talk about your first kiss with my brother. Let’s talk about them." She said, pointing at Lucas and Caden.
"We can’t just stop them. Lucas has to fight because he is the heir to Wilson Group. And Caden would have to win because he’s surrounded by his men. He can’t show any weakness, Alira. So, stay here and support your fiance." Brie said, her eyes stuck on Lucas.
Now she understood why Brie told her about the kiss. The girl was one hundred percent sure of her feelings for Lucas and she would never doubt him.
"Do you know what’s in the headquarters?" She asked.
Brie shook her head. "Not really. I heard about it from Dad. But I never tried to check on it. Not that I can’t, but because I know it would be handed to Lucas, so I didn’t hack its system."
Although it was a bit weird, she wanted to commend Brie for being so loyal to Lucas. And she knew Brie deserved to know about A.E Headquarters.
"Our Dads built a headquarters outside Northbay City. It was just a simple house near the ocean, with wooden walls and ceilings complete with furniture. But inside, there was a secret door behind the fireplace with a stair leading you to the basement’s door. Behind it was an elevator to an underground facility. The entrance is voice activated and can only be opened by five men, our fathers." She paused.
"Dad created a system that will allow them to hack every computer, mobile phone, and all communication devices. It could also show someone’s location."
Brie suddenly became attentive. She was a genius hacker and hearing something about technology and invention made her excited.
"But hacking is illegal. If someone finds out about it, it’ll be dangerous." Brie commented.
"I know. But Dad said it was the only way he can find out who was targeting Mom. And the only person who can access the mainframe was him. It was a secret facility, but the system he invented wasn’t fully operational. It was an unfinished project, so it didn’t help a lot in finding Benjamin." She said.
Brie frowned. "Why are you telling me about it?"
She looked directly into Brie’s eyes. "A few months ago, they turned over the headquarters to Lucas. Dad wanted him to finish what he started, but Lucas wasn’t a tech genius like Dad, so he was getting frustrated. Caden might have heard of it, so he challenged Lucas. Like Caden, my brother had been working hard to stop the mafia, and the headquarters might be our hope to capture Benjamin."
"So, what’s your point?" Brie asked.
"I was just thinking. Whoever wins in this fight, whether it’s my brother or Caden, will you be willing to lend a hand?"
Brie was puzzled and couldn’t answer her. Maybe because she was more fixated on Lucas than the conversation.
"Help finish my dad’s project. If it’s you, I think it’s possible." She said in a serious tone.
Brie was surprised. "Why are you asking me so suddenly?"
"Because I somehow understand what would happen after the challenge. If Lucas wins, he will ask you to help him. Maybe not now, but soon he will. And Caden will do the same. If he wins, he’ll ask you right after the fight. I’m asking you now to make sure you will agree with whoever asks you for help."
Brie chuckled. "You know very well that I can never say no to your brother. And you are not sure if I will say yes to Caden, so you’re basically doing it for him."
"You’re really smart. You are right. I’m doing it for my man. You can think of this as your sister-in-law’s request. Besides, we’re not the only ones who wanted to end Benjamin’s madness, right? You, of all people, wanted it to end." She said.
It was one of Brie’s weaknesses. Somehow, she was also a victim of the mafia. They exploited her mom, resulting in a betrayal. So she would do everything to get revenge.
"How about you work for me instead? My brother wouldn’t want you to work under Caden, so I think it’s okay if it’s me." She continued.
"Why would Lucas disagree?" Brie innocently asked.
She rolled her eyes. "Just ask him, okay? Now, I need your answer. Will you work for me or not?"
