My Dragon King System-Chapter 386: A Win For The Continent
Time resumed.
Every champion on the battlefield stopped for a second. ๐ป๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ธโฏ๐ท๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ฃโฏ๐.๐ค๐๐ฎ
The Uweron mages preparing their spells hesitated, their magic circles flickering uncertainly. The Valaross warriors who had been walking back toward the fortress stopped, as confusion settled over their faces.
For a brief moment, the dimension itself seemed to hold its breath. Then, as if nothing had happened, everyone continued moving.
The Valaross champions who had been retreating blinked and looked around. One of them, a warrior from Skallgard, frowned and muttered, "Why are we heading back?"
Another champion, a mage from Orathia, shook her head. "I... I donโt know. We should be fighting."
The confusion spread through the group as they glanced at each other, trying to piece together why they had been walking away from the battlefield in the first place.
Then, without another word, they turned around and began marching forward again.
Their magic had returned.
One by one, they rejoined the main force and prepared to advance.
โโ
High above in the Citadel of Gods, the divine beings felt the shift. They couldnโt identify what had changed, but they knew something had.
Some of them who were on the edge of the island with Aiden, turned their eyes toward the Dragon Kingโs position.
Although they didnโt see him, but some had looks of suspicion and and some were certain he had just altered something with the world. In the room where Laela, Arianna, and Uriel watched with the children, the three women exchanged quiet glances.
They felt it too
Even their own minds had been touched by whatever heโd done, but the knowledge of what exactly remained just out of reach.
โโ
On the battlefield, Syra walked at the head of the Valaross force. Her expression was calm and focused but then she had felt it too.
A slight shift in reality.
Youโre right, my bad. Hereโs the corrected version based exactly on what you typed:
โโ
On the battlefield, Syra walked at the head of the Valaross force. Her orange hair caught the light as she moved, and her expression was calm but focused.
She had felt it too.
She was the only other person aside from the gods, the Archangel, and the Dragon Kingโs wives who noticed. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that she used to r a higher-level dragon being.
However, it was truly hard to tell, but she knew for certain that Aiden had done something.
Her own mind had been affected too but she didnโt linger on it, instead she exhaled slowly and kept walking.
โโ
The Uweron forces came into view.
They moved in coordinated groups, just as they had planned.
Syra stopped at the front of the Valaross formation. Behind her, the champions of every kingdom prepared themselves.
Tzar and the Zahka warriors drew their weapons. The Amazons from Yulโthera tightened their grips on their spears.
Syra raised her hand, and a blue magic circle appeared above her palm.
Three mages of Uweron released concentrated beams of fire, lightning, and ice toward her.
Syra whispered, "Aegis Arcanum."
A massive translucent barrier with ancient runes materialized in front of her. The three elemental beams struck the barrier and dispersed into the air without even denting it.
And their eyes widened at her level of defense.
Syra dismissed the barrier and raised her hand again. This time, a different magic circle formed. It was larger, more complex, with layers of interlocking patterns.
From the magic circle, dozens of brilliant spheres of condensed light materialized around her, making the air vibrate.
Then they shot forward.
The spheres moved at incredible speed, each one targeting a different Uweron mage. The mages scattered, trying to avoid them, but the spheres tracked their movements precisely.
Two out of the three got it, and the only reason the last one escaped was because in the last second, he used a spell that made him disappear from sight.
Behind her, the Valaross champions stared in awe at Syraโs power.
One of the Xathian mages muttered, "Sheโs terrifying."
โโ
Across the battlefield, Tzar and the Zahka warriors engaged another Uweron unit in close combat.
Tzar didnโt bother drawing his sword. Instead, he relied on his fists and his Ki.
He dashed forward and drove his fist into the stomach of an Uweron warrior.
And the impact sent a shockwave through the manโs body, sending him flying away.
Another mage pointed a staff toward Tzarโs head, ready to cast a spell, but Tzar caught the staff mid-swing, yanked it from the manโs hands, and struck him across the face with it.
The other Zahka warriors fought with the same ferocity. Their movements were precise, and clean.
The Uweron mages in that unit began to panic. They had underestimated the Zahka warriors, assuming that close combat would be easier to handle than ranged magic.
But they were wrong.
โโ
โโ
High above the battlefield, Katherine rode on Qasagโs back. The dragon circled above the Uweron forces, and Katherine directed him.
"Naras," she whispered in Dragon Tongue.
Qasag opened his jaws and released a torrent of blue flames. The fire cascaded downward, washing over a group of Uweron mages.
But unfortunately, they put up a defensive barrier spell over their head, blocking off the flames from the dragon.
Katherine guided Qasag higher, then angled him down for another pass. As they dove, her hand drifted to her stomach.
She held it there for a moment, then pulled it away.
She wanted to fight, to feel the rush of combat, to prove herself once more.
But she couldnโt.
She had someone else to think about now, and perhaps it was just her inexperience but that made her worry.
"Naras! Qasag," she whispered.
The dragon roared and released another torrent of flames, and the mages scattered in panic.
Katherine continued her aerial assault, maintaining her distance but ensuring that Qasagโs fire remained a constant threat.
โโ
Back at the Valaross fortress, in Dragonholdโs hall, Piers watched the screens with narrowed eyes.
He had been watching his wifeโs screen for the past several minutes, and something felt off. She was fighting, yes. But not the way she usually did.
Normally, Katherine would dismount from Qasag and engage enemies directly. She loved close combat and thrived in it.
But today, she had stayed on the dragonโs back the entire time.
Piers immediately knew something was off.
โโ
On the battlefield, Thamoryn and Talen were faced against Dunn, the Lesedor mage with Esparda De Langza.
He grinned when he saw them. "Grand Magus Talen. And Queen Thamoryn. Not a fair matchup but this should be interesting."
Talen drew his katana and said nothing.
Thamorynโs body began to glow with light magic.
Dunnโs grin widened.
He stretched both hands forward, and multiple portals opened around him. From each portal, concentrated beams of Esparda De Langza shot toward Talen and Thamoryn.
Talen raised his hand and distorted the space around him, bending the beams away. Thamoryn vanished in a flash of light and reappeared behind Dunn, releasing a blade of light toward his back.
But Dunn warped his position and reappeared several meters away.
The three of them locked into battle.
Talen and Thamoryn coordinated their attacks, forcing Dunn to constantly reposition. But Dunnโs spatial magic made him nearly impossible to pin down.
Talen distorted the ground beneath Dunnโs feet, causing it to collapse inward. Dunn warped away just in time.
Thamoryn appeared above him and released a rain of light blades. Dunn created a spatial barrier that deflected them.
The fight continued, with none of them gaining ground. Each attack was met with a counter. Each movement was anticipated and avoided.
Eventually, Thamoryn and Talen forced Dunn into a corner. The combined pressure of Talenโs distortion magic and Thamorynโs light-speed strikes overwhelmed him.
That was when Dunn raised both hands in surrender.
"I yield," he said.
Thamoryn stopped mid-strike, and Talen lowered his hand.
And with that Dunn vanished in a flash of light and a grin on his face.
Eliminated.
โโ
As the day wore on, the Uweron forces began to falter. Unfortunately, before the sun even set, Uweron had lost the required number of champions to trigger elimination.
A flash of light swept across the battlefield and the remaining Uweron champions vanished.
The Valaross champions were silent for a moment.
Then someone shouted, "We won!"
And the battlefield erupted into cheers.
The champions embraced each other, shouting and laughing. They had done it. They had survived Stage One.
Syra had a smile on her face as she watched the others jubilate. Several champions approached her, bowing their heads in respect.
"Thank you," one of them said.
Another added, "You saved us."
Syra nodded but said nothing. She simply turned and began walking back toward the fortress.
โโ
Back at the Valaross fortress, the halls erupted into jubilation.
The champions materialized in their respective halls, and the moment they appeared, the rooms exploded with cheers and applause.
In Dragonholdโs hall, Oberon stood at the front with a rare smile on his face. "We did it."
And the room roared in approval.
