My Dragon King System-Chapter 355: My Half-Dragon Wives: Resonance
Arianna pressed forward immediately after blocking Uriel’s thrust, swinging her blade down in three rapid slashes; diagonal, horizontal, then vertical.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Uriel parried all three strikes with only her wrist moving with each deflection causing little shockwave ripples each time their weapons collided.
Laela rejoined the assault, circling around until she was behind Uriel. Then she thrust Volestrum forward twice in quick succession at the angel’s back.
The angel didn’t turn around.
She twisted her torso to the left while continuing to parry Arianna’s strikes with her rapier.
The first thrust from Laela passed harmlessly by her right side as she immediately shifted her weight to the right, letting the second thrust miss her left side by inches, all without breaking rhythm against Arianna’s attacks.
However, Uriel knew it wasn’t wise staying trapped between both half-dragon women.
Right after deflecting Eclipsar’s last attack, she blitzed away to the side, creating distance between herself and both opponents.
But Arianna didn’t let up.
She charged forward with a powerful overhead slash, reinforced with enough magic-enhanced strength to crater the ground.
Uriel took a step back, raised her rapier diagonally above her head, and met Arianna’s descending blade.
BOOOOM!
The impact sent a shockwave blasting outward in all directions as the ground beneath them shattered and spread out into a devastatingly huge crater.
Chunks of stone lifted into the air as dust exploded outward.
From the balcony above, Aiden watched calmly as debris scattered everywhere around him. However none of it reached him or his children thanks to an invisible barrier he erected.
Tristan giggled louder as chunks of rock flew past.
Andrea clapped her tiny hands together in delight.
Back on the ground, Laela used the dust cloud as cover.
Her enhanced dragon senses allowed her to see perfectly through the obscured vision as she came in fast with Volestrum angled for upward thrust, aimed directly at Uriel’s abdomen.
But at the last moment, the angel’s senses warned her of imminent danger; causing her to sidestep in avoidance of the thrust before leaping out of the dust cloud, where she was sure to see them both clearly.
The instant Uriel’s foot touched the ground, Arianna rushed in, leaping through the dust cloud and bringing Eclipsar down toward the angel with both hands gripping the hilt.
She followed so quickly that there was neither time nor space for Uriel to evade.
So Uriel did something unexpected.
She released her left hand from behind and caught Arianna mid-air by grabbing onto Eclipsar’s blade itself with her bare palm.
Arianna’s eyes went wide as her downward momentum stopped instantly. She hung suspended in the air, held there by nothing but Uriel’s grasp on her sword.
There was a sort of golden light around Uriel’s hand where she gripped Eclipsar, which was a protective aura preventing any damage despite holding an impossibly sharp edge.
With minimal effort, Uriel threw Arianna backward. However, the half-human tumbled through the air before landing several meters away on her feet close to Laela.
Both women were breathing hard, sweat running down their faces as they stared at Uriel. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
The Archangel had no blind spots. No dropped guard. No hesitation. In every sense of the word, she was perfect.
"Any ideas?" Arianna said in a low tone.
Laela replied with a shake of her head.
She had none.
Uriel lowered her rapier slightly, studying both women as they stood across from her. She didn’t look one bit exhausted, neither was she breathing as hard as her opponents.
"Your forms have not dulled," Uriel said in a voice that carried approval. "Even after months without practice, it is remarkable that you can fight at this level."
She took a step forward a bit.
"Right now, any of you could individually battle a demon lord now and emerge victorious without needing the other’s aid."
Laela and Arianna exchanged a brief glance as they felt this surge of pride at the angel’s words.
But Uriel’s expression suddenly became more serious.
"However, it is time I see how you perform when you’ve lost an advantage."
Then she whispered in a solemn voice;
"Resonance."
——
From the balcony above, Aiden felt the shift in energy immediately. His eyebrows rose slightly as he looked down at Uriel, then over at his wives.
He glanced down at Tristan and Andrea who were still floating happily above his palm.
"Watch this, you two," Aiden said with an amused smile. "You’re about to see your mothers have a very bad day."
Tristan and Andrea both burst into delighted laughter; completely oblivious to what their father had just said, but giggling purely because he was smiling at them.
Aiden chuckled and turned his attention back to the courtyard.
——
Uriel raised her rapier horizontally at eye level, then ran two fingers; the index and middle of her free hand—along the flat surface of the blade, from its guard to tip.
Small sparks flickered beneath her fingers as if the weapon itself responded to her touch.
Then she moved.
Her form blurred forward at even greater speed, with golden light trailing behind her in streaks that lingered like afterimages.
The movement was unnatural. One moment she was there, and the next she had shifted elsewhere, leaving only a golden trail as evidence of the path she had taken.
Laela and Arianna tried to raise their weapons in preparation for defense, but Uriel widened her eyes at them both mid-sprint.
And they both instantly felt a sluggishness wash over their bodies as their movements became heavy and slow
Uriel moved between them in a flash, knocking both their weapons from their hands with precise strikes before hitting them backward with blunt force.
THUD! THUD!
Both women tumbled across the ground before rolling to a stop several meters away.
This was the Grace of Resonance.
The power of Uriel’s grace was to amplify, debuff, or harmonize. And right now, she had used it to increase her own movement speed and power while reducing the exact same attributes for the half dragon women.
