Chapter 288: Mr Dragon King

Without any need for consent this time, the process to Dragon King began.

The amount of magic power that surged from Aiden was so immense that his body could no longer maintain its humanoid form.

His frame expanded violently, scales erupting across his skin as his limbs stretched and thickened. His wings unfurled behind him, spreading wide as his neck elongated.

Within moments, a three-hundred-foot black dragon stood upon the moon’s surface, towering over everyone present.

Aiden’s massive jaws opened, and a roar was released. The sound was deafening and absolute, and It carried with it a shockwave so powerful that it rippled outward through the void itself, scattering across the emptiness of space.

It was as though Aiden was trying to establish his dominance.

Even Adam didn’t realize when he stepped backward involuntarily. His golden eyes widened as the force of the roar washed over him.

The roar was not just sound. It carried with it Dragon’s Fear, an overwhelming aura of terror and the gods standing nearby felt it immediately.

Their legs trembled beneath them and their hearts pounded. Every instinct screamed at them to flee.

The other dragons, however had smiles on their faces. Thyron nodded slowly, as if witnessing something she had been waiting to see for a long time.

Right now, it felt like they were standing beside the rest of their dragon siblings once more.

But then something went wrong.

The power flowing through Aiden spiraled out of control for just a moment, and the world around them responded.

Multiple copies of the moon materialized around them, popping into existence one after another and mocking the natural order of things.

Then time froze.

It was not just on the moon or in the immediate area. Time had stopped across the entire solar system.

The sun ceased its burning. The planets halted mid-orbit. Every asteroid, every comet, every particle of dust drifting through space became locked in perfect stillness.

The other dragons were affected only for a second or two, but their power as dragons allowed them to resist the effect almost immediately.

However, the gods standing nearby were not so fortunate.

Adam froze mid-step, and his golden eyes that were widened in terror remained as such. Thera’s mouth hung open mid-breath.

They were all trapped in the frozen flow of time, unable to act or speak or even think.

Thankfully, before the Space and Destruction Authorities could spiral out of control, Aiden reined them in.

His form began shrinking rapidly until he returned to being more human.

The red glow of his eyes felt like it radiated power as he still had black scales covering parts of his body and shorter wings on his back.

Aiden turned his head and saw the anomalies he had created.

The duplicated moons. The frozen solar system. The gods locked in time.

With a thought, he reset them all.

The gods gasped as they were released from the frozen moment, stumbling slightly as their bodies adjusted.

They all stared at Aiden in shock, totally dumbfounded.

Syqora stepped forward and with a rather curious expression.

"How did you suddenly reach your fullest potential?" he asked. "What changed?"

Aiden shook his head slowly.

"I’m not sure," he replied. "But there’s so much qualitative change going on right now with my body. I’m going to need a minute to understand it all."

As he spoke, translucent screens began materializing before his eyes in rapid succession.

More and more screens kept appearing before him, each one detailing some new aspect of his transformation. But even as they scrolled past, Aiden barely paid attention to them.

Frankly, he didn’t even need to.

The natural understanding of what his existence currently was registered on its own, one piece at a time.

His knowledge of the universe had broadened exponentially. He knew everything there was to know about it now. The mechanics of space, the flow of time, the structure of matter itself, all of it was clear to him.

The essences of the dragons within him had meshed with his completely. Thyrak, Veyqorin, Keyles and Cronyssia.

They were no longer separate entities residing within him. They were him now.

Of course, he could still speak to them if he wished. He could also now communicate with the previous hosts before him and Syra.

But only if he chose to.

All of the skills he had once relied on weren’t just skills anymore. Each one felt like an extension of himself, as natural as breathing or thinking.

Then a final set of screens appeared before him:

[The System Has Fulfilled Its Duties]

[I Will Now Remain A Dormant Part Of Yourself Until There Is New Need For My Function]

Aiden stared at the message for a moment, then said "You have served me well."

The screen flickered once more before fading away.

Then Aiden turned to Syqora and said, "I guess I’ll be opening that portal myself after all."

Syqora nodded with a smile on his face.

——-

Within Dragonhold, while Aiden underwent that final transformation into the Dragon King, both Laela and Arianna underwent a change as well.

They may not have been dragons, but this was nothing short of qualitative.

It was so sudden in the guild that night, especially as everyone had gone to bed. Even they themselves didn’t realize it coming.

Without warning their magic energy started soaring slowly, forcing them to wake up and stare at their palms before glancing at themselves.

A surge of magic energy unlike anything they had ever experienced before. It started deep within their cores, where their origin magic resided, and began spreading outward through their entire bodies.

It wasn’t painful. If anything, it felt... euphoric.

Their mana reserves expanded rapidly, growing larger and larger until it felt like an ocean roaring inside them.

Laela gasped as her plant magic flared to life around her. Vines sprouted from the floorboards beneath the bed, twisting upward and wrapping around the bedposts.

Flowers bloomed along the vines in brilliant colors, white, yellow, red, with each one glowing with magical energy.

Arianna’s magic power responded as well and in that moment she felt like she could do anything.

Both women immediately realized that Aiden had evolved again.

The Dragon’s Bond connected them to him, and whenever he grew stronger, they did as well. But this... this was unlike any other transformation they had ever experienced.
