My Curse? A Different Yandere in Every Reincarnation-Chapter 178: Fourth Calamity
Chapter 178: Fourth Calamity
"Is Shizune ready?" I ask Shizune as we stand atop the kingdom’s wall, watching a large army of the undead waiting for something.
"Of course... they seem to have noticed they can’t get in," Shizune says, observing the strategy. The undead are blocking all the exits from the kingdom. Over time, we’ll run out of food, supplies, and won’t be able to contact another kingdom.
In other words, they’re forcing us to come out, or else starve to death inside. So, we have to deal with it either way.
"Yes, would you like to do the honors?" I ask as the paladins prepare. I’ve already located the necromancer controlling everything, and there are actually 7 of them, but only one is emitting living traces, which is at least strange, but I decided not to say anything since they’re all going to die anyway.
"Can I really?" Shizune asks, and I nod.
"Shizune, we just need to eliminate one of the 7 necromancers, and it’s all over. That’s the one over there, he’s the one in command," I say, pointing to a location.
"I understand. Beatriz, I’m going to show you a really cool spell I made in your honor," Shizune says with a smile, and I get excited. Shizune then steps away from me a few meters and holds the spear as if she’s about to throw it.
"[Beatriz’s Judgment Spear]," Shizune says, and the spear is suddenly covered in ice, forming a giant point that practically equals the size of a house. Shizune throws it with all her might.
It quickly passes through, freezing the ground and vaporizing all the undead in its path, forming a path of ice with walls, as if immediately constructing a safe path with walls around it.
"Y-You didn’t have to remember that," I say, embarrassed. It’s obvious that this is because I pierced her heart with the spear when I tried to judge her in the Holy Test.
"Let’s go before they break the wall and fill the path with more undead," Shizune says, jumping and starting to run through the frozen corridor, with the spear being pulled back to her by an icy chain on the handle.
I also jump and start running with her, seeing the thick ice wall forming the path. It has ice spikes on the outside, making it difficult to break the wall without getting hurt.
"This attack is incredible," I say, following the frozen path. Unfortunately, the spear had been stopped halfway, and someone managed to block it, so I see the corridor starting to fill with undead again.
"Thank you for the compliment," she says as I start to form a small sacred barrier to deal continuous damage to the undead.
"Can you make a tower for me?" I ask.
"One? You deserve hundreds of them, my love," she says jokingly, as giant ice pillars suddenly emerge from the ground in various locations. I leap to the wall and use magic to make a super jump, climbing onto one of them.
From up here, I have a good view of everything, and with so many of them, I can easily move around on top.
I form a large sacred magic bow and pull an arrow. I see Shizune running down there, striking the undead with her spear.
From up here, I start shooting at them to clear a path for her to pass through, moving my fingers rapidly and firing hundreds of arrows, each one immediately purifying the undead it hits.
’At this rate, she’ll reach the threat in 3 minutes.’ I need to ensure a clear space for her, so I aim much further ahead.
"[Arrow That Pierces the Heavens]," I say the spell, and a giant arrow begins to form. As soon as I fire it, it hits the area, forming a massive white explosion that wipes out all the undead in a large area.
I fire 7 more, opening a large space that will take a while to be filled again. Thanks to the power boost from Shizune’s milk, it’s no longer as tiring to do so many.
I continue to provide support while jumping to a closer tower. Soon, Shizune reaches the enemy, a girl with black hair and white eyes that I recognize as the foul necromancer called Belladonna Kraven, who caused problems in the kingdom 40 years ago in the historical records.
"Are they talking?" The two of them stop in front of each other and seem to be conversing, but Shizune doesn’t have a good expression on her face, while Belladonna Kraven has a bizarre expression and a smile that sends a chill down my spine from up here.
Soon, they seem to disagree, and Belladonna’s face becomes covered in rage and hatred as she points at me. She appears to be yelling at Shizune, but I’m too far away to hear.
And so, the two begin a fight, with another necromancer entering the fray and attacking Shizune, who easily dodges. Belladonna Kraven only fires potions, trying to hit Shizune, while some powerful undead arrive.
I try to provide support, but some highly skilled undead archer targets me, and I begin a shooting competition with this annoying undead while unable to help Shizune.
The paladins finally start gaining the advantage, managing to push the undead away from the barrier and gain space. The fight drags on for a few minutes, and I finally manage to eliminate the irritating archer who was attacking me.
"I need to help Shizune." I see Shizune is fighting against 9 high-class undead, but because of the spear, each undead has to be very careful with Shizune or they’ll be killed in one blow.
Belladonna Kraven seems to have tried to control Shizune, but I’ve already freed Shizune from any form of mind control, so she’s immune and continues the fight, gaining the advantage when I manage to hit one of the undead in the head with an arrow.
Shizune uses ice magic to move quickly and at perfect angles, trying to hit with the spear, while I provide support with the sacred arrows to protect her.
I wish I could use another sacred magic, but I’m limited to using one area sacred magic or protecting Shizune from so many attacks, so I end up just continuing with the simple sacred arrows that don’t interfere with Shizune.
Soon, Shizune manages to purify two of the undead with a powerful thrust of the spear, gaining an absurd advantage while being careful not to drop the head on the ground.
Shizune’s field of vision is much more versatile due to the head being detached from the neck, so surprising her is becoming difficult for the enemies, who start trying to use magic, but Shizune’s ice magic is far superior.
And so, she quickly kills most of them, but this gave time for thousands of common undead to approach her. Shizune, creative as always, connects an ice chain to the spear and spins it rapidly.
Making a cut with multiple spins using the power of the spear and her strength to eliminate a large part of the enemies who couldn’t dodge.
"That’s it, Shizune! Well done!" I say from up here, defending her from an attack with a powerful arrow shot at the enemy. Soon, Shizune is alone with Belladonna Kraven, the main necromancer controlling most of the undead.
They start talking again, while Shizune approaches her with the spear. Belladonna seems to be yelling at Shizune while crying, saying something to her, but Shizune doesn’t seem to care as she prepares.
And so, Shizune cuts off Belladonna Kraven’s head with her spear, ending the fight. With that, the weaker undead stop moving and crumble, leaving only the stronger ones, which will soon stop moving as well.
It may have seemed easy to deal with what was supposed to be the fourth calamity, but the point is that all the previous calamities were defeated before they became a major problem.
Letting them grow would be the worst thing, because they would become too difficult to deal with.
’I used up a lot of power...’ I used many powerful attacks in succession. As a final sacred magic for the day, I use a powerful curative sacred barrier that covers the entire area to help the paladins finish the fight.
I jump down from here, heading towards Shizune, who is standing, looking at the corpse. fгeewebnovёl.com
"Shizune, we won!" I say, running to her and jumping onto her back in a hug, but Shizune just falls to her knees, almost knocking me over.
"I-Is something wrong?" She falls to the ground, lying on her back and releasing the spear. Now I see how her veins are glowing a pure white, and the flames on her neck are extremely weak and even white.
"S-SHIZUNE!!" I hug her as she opens her eyes with extreme fatigue.
"Please... don’t yell, I’m still alive..." She speaks as the flames slowly get smaller.
"W-Why!! Why are you being purified?!" I say urgently, tears falling from my face.
"...It seems I’ve fulfilled my duty? I protected you... and saved people... I’m a good person, right?" She says with a small smile as I hug her head.
"N-No, no, no, this can’t be happening!! W-Why are you dying? T-This isn’t fair," I cry, and Shizune just speaks wearily.
"It’s okay, Beatriz... I’m happy you’re alright... I already knew it would be like this... I just want you to be well, isn’t it a mother’s duty to protect her children?" She speaks as I hug her tightly.
"W-Why are you leaving me?!" I say desperately, knowing now that the fault is the spear, as Shizune emits the same magic as the spear.
"I’m sorry... I’m just... resolving a problem I caused myself..." She speaks in a more melancholic tone.
"I was very happy with you... but I was supposed to be dead a long time ago, please accept this, and live happily, in the end I’ll still be alive in your memories," She speaks gently as the flames on her neck completely go out.
"Be happy, Beatriz..."
"..." I look at her, crying an ugly, desperate cry, as her body slowly turns to dust, her head disappearing in my arms, while her words echo in my mind.
We won, but at what cost? She knew she was going to die, but didn’t tell me anything. She broke the promise to stay with me.
"G-God, why?... why were you so cruel to me?" I speak with sadness, while in my arms only the ashes of her body remain. I’ve followed God my whole life.
And I had only one wish that I always asked of him, and when he granted my wish by giving me Shizune, I was so happy, but now he’s taken her from me.
"I-I’ll be alone again..." I murmur, my heart aching, the dust in my body being carried away by the wind. All that remains of Shizune are the happy memories she gave me and the changes she made in the church.
"AAAAAHHHHHHH" I let out a desperate scream, the only person who gave me genuine, true happiness has just abandoned me forever.
