My Computer Leads to an Instance Dungeon-Chapter 94 - 88: Instance Settlement! Overwhelming Fortune, and the Over-limit Element
"...It’s the Magic Divine Oil left by the first Town Mayor of Redstone Town," Ande said.
"What?" Fang Zhen was taken aback.
’Magic Divine Oil?’
’Why does that sound so strange?’
"Yes, it’s Magic Divine Oil," Ande confirmed.
Perhaps noticing Fang Zhen’s odd expression, Ande explained, "Sir, Redstone Town is a semi-free town because its first Town Mayor was a Knight in the service of Viscount Ashton’s ancestor."
"The Ashton Clan owed its rise to prominence to that Knight’s considerable power. As a reward, Viscount Ashton’s ancestor granted him Redstone Town as a fief."
"However, that Knight was an eccentric man. He never married and left no heirs. Instead of accepting Redstone Town as his personal fief, he asked the Ashton Clan to establish it as a free town."
"The Ashton Clan agreed. However, Redstone Town was required to pay a certain amount of taxes, so it wasn’t completely free—more of a semi-free town. Still, its tax burden was much lighter than elsewhere."
Fang Zhen nodded.
’It was a little strange for someone like Redstone Town’s first mayor to exist in this era, but not impossible. People like that usually have a unique worldview or philosophy, putting them at odds with the mainstream. As long as they were capable and persistent enough, they could carve out a comfortable little corner of the world for themselves.’
’It seemed Redstone Town’s first mayor was just that sort of character.’ 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Ande continued, "And so, Redstone Town was preserved as a semi-free town. That respected Lord Knight was its founder and first Town Mayor."
"He left behind weapons, armor, and various other items. That was nearly a hundred years ago, however. After so long, the weapons and armor were poorly maintained and have rusted away, but a few other things remain."
"It only occurred to me last night that among the items left by our first Town Mayor, there was apparently an Extraordinary Item: the Magic Divine Oil."
"Magic Divine Oil is applied to a weapon to grant it wondrous magical effects. I don’t know the specific properties of the oil left by the first Town Mayor, but legend says he won his great victories for the Ashton Clan’s ancestor with a weapon coated in it."
"Heh, how interesting." Fang Zhen chuckled, finding the whole thing rather amusing.
’Magic Divine Oil that you can apply to a weapon? So it’s like a single-use enchantment?’
’And its effect is a mystery box?’
’I wonder how many uses it has left. It sounds pretty appealing, though.’
Fang Zhen was definitely tempted.
’He had a hunch that returning this time would trigger the instance’s conclusion, and very likely kick off Act Three.’
’Judging by the flow of Act Two, if there was an Act Three, the instance would probably be related to that Baron von Kleist.’
’Even if Ande hadn’t offered anything, clearing the instance would likely require a conflict with Baron von Kleist anyway.’
’Fang Zhen just wanted to maximize his own gains.’
’Of course, anything that hadn’t happened yet was just speculation and fantasy.’
’The only tangible benefit he had right now was the Cinnabar Ore delivered right to him.’
’Still, the fact that Ande was willing to offer up a treasured heirloom like the Magic Divine Oil gave Fang Zhen more motivation. It would also boost his strength.’
"Alright."
"I have my own mission, but I can make you a promise. If fate allows me to return to Redstone Town, I will do my best to help you."
"Of course, I will expect appropriate compensation in return."
Fang Zhen said.
"That is only right," Ande said.
"Alright, you should head back now. I need to meditate for a while before I leave," Fang Zhen said.
That was what he said, but in reality, he wanted Ande and the others to leave quickly so he could move the Cinnabar Ore on the ground through the Light Gate and into the living room on the other side.
The Light Gate was less than six meters away from Ande and the others.
Yet Ande and the others, without exception, acted as if they couldn’t see the Light Gate at all, continuing their conversation with Fang Zhen.
Fang Zhen recalled asking Leon to look at the Light Gate before. As it turned out, Leon couldn’t see it either.
’It seemed the Light Gate was only perceptible to him. The other people in the instance couldn’t see it, and in all likelihood, couldn’t pass through it either.’
"Very well, Sir. I will take my leave now."
"I truly hope to see you again soon. Redstone Town needs you, and I need you."
"May the Light of Tad shine upon you."
Ande spoke, tracing an equilateral triangle over his chest.
"Sir!" Quade called out.
Fang Zhen turned his gaze toward him.
"It was my privilege to fight alongside you, and an honor I will cherish for a lifetime."
"How I wish I could become your Knight’s Servant again and fight by your side!" Quade said.
Fang Zhen smiled.
"You’ll have your chance," he said.
"Let’s not disturb the Lord Knight’s Meditation. We’ll be on our way," Ande said.
Ande, Quade, and the two miners bowed to Fang Zhen, then turned and departed.
Fang Zhen watched them leave.
He didn’t let out a sigh of relief until they had nearly reached the bottom of the hill and were entering Redstone Town.
Even knowing they couldn’t see the white Light Gate, discussing matters right in front of it still felt thrillingly risky to Fang Zhen, like he was getting away with something right under their noses.
Ande and his group entered Redstone Town. What’s more, a mist had rolled in that morning, so at this distance, Fang Zhen could no longer see what was below. He figured they probably couldn’t see him up here, either.
Only then did Fang Zhen breathe a true sigh of relief.
Say what you will, not being seen as he crossed through made him feel much safer, at least psychologically.
