My Computer Leads to an Instance Dungeon-Chapter 92 - 86: Magic Genius
Fang Zhen didn’t know what was happening either. He just felt that something wasn’t quite right with the situation.
He was quick on the uptake and immediately released the hand seal-like gesture.
The intense white light gathered in his hands dissipated just like that.
It seemed the white light was just pure spiritual energy, without any destructive properties or a particularly strong backlash. It just made him feel a bit drained while gathering his Spiritual Power.
Fang Zhen took a deep breath, and the feeling of being completely drained vanished. It was as if it had all been an illusion caused by excessive concentration.
"Father Matthew, what was that just now? Was that normal?"
"Or is this what it’s always like when you all practice?"
He turned his head and asked Matthew.
"Father?"
Fang Zhen suddenly noticed that Matthew’s expression was very off.
Matthew was staring blankly ahead, his gaze still fixed on the spot where Fang Zhen’s hands had formed the seal. He looked dumbstruck, his eyes wide and unblinking.
Hearing Fang Zhen’s words, Matthew seemed to jolt awake and snap out of his stupor.
"Mr. Fang Zhen, are you certain you aren’t a Divine Favored of some True God?"
"It’s truly astonishing... I’ve never seen such a high level of spiritual concentration. Not even the Cardinals! I’ve never seen any of them perform the Light of Tad guidance technique to this extent!"
"You should really consider joining the Tade Church. I guarantee your future in the Church will far surpass any achievements in the secular world. In less than twenty years, you could become a member of the College of Cardinals. You might even have a chance of being a candidate for the next Pope."
Matthew said, his face still etched with shock.
Seeing the priest’s expression, Fang Zhen was also quite surprised.
’I didn’t think my Spiritual Power was that much stronger than anyone else’s.’
’Based on my experience in the real world, I always thought I had decent willpower, but not to some heaven-defying degree. There are people with far stronger willpower in every walk of life. I’d say I’m above average, maybe quite strong, but not *that* strong, right?’
’If this is enough to be a candidate for Pope, then what about some of the heroic soldiers I know of? Or the older generation of veterans who fought in wars like the Korean War? Wouldn’t their level of Spiritual Power be enough to sweep through this whole dungeon world?’
’Is it my innate talent? Or some environmental factor of this dungeon world?’
’Could it be that all my compatriots are potential geniuses in this dungeon world? Latent Great Mages and clerics with saint-level talent?’
’It’s just that they never had the chance to cross over into a dungeon world, and all their max-level talents were wasted on college entrance exams and office jobs?’
Fang Zhen thought about it. He couldn’t say it was impossible.
After all, if you dropped Einstein into a primitive society, all his max-level physics talent would go to waste. It would never even be discovered.
Of course, it was also possible he had some special quality he himself wasn’t aware of.
Fang Zhen shook his head, casting the thought from his mind.
’No one else can enter this dungeon world to verify it anyway, so I’ll just assume I’m exceptionally talented.’
"Father, let’s not discuss joining the church for now. First, just teach me how to use Extraordinary Items."
"That’s what I want to learn right now," he said.
"Oh, that’s very simple," Matthew said. "You’ve already gathered such a highly concentrated amount of Spiritual Power. You just need to relax a bit and focus less of your strength."
"Once you’ve focused that power again, guide it, and then channel it into the Extraordinary Item. That will establish a connection and activate it."
Fang Zhen nodded.
He got back into position and once again formed the Tade Church’s equilateral triangle guidance seal.
He’d learned his lesson this time. His spirit was still focused, but not as intensely as before.
’Source Power!’
He silently chanted the spell in his mind again.
’In my understanding, the name of the spell isn’t that important. It acts more like a mental cue. The main thing is repetition. Later on, I probably won’t even need the hand seal; just chanting the spell silently will achieve the same effect.’
After Fang Zhen chanted silently, a light once again shone from within his hand seal.
This time, however, the light wasn’t as fierce as before. It was a soft, pale white glow.
His body didn’t feel like it was being drained dry this time. Although he could still feel his Spirit, body, and energy being drawn into the hand seal, the process wasn’t as violent. It was relatively stable.
’I get it now. This is like shifting gears and stepping on the gas in a car.’
’For some unknown reason, my talent for Spiritual Power here is exceptionally good. It’s like the common folk of Redstone Town are wheelbarrows, a few people are bicycles, Matthew is probably a trusty minivan, and I’m a sports car, like a Porsche or a Ferrari.’
’When Matthew focuses with all his might, it probably takes him over ten seconds to go from zero to sixty. For me, it’s an instant launch; I’m up to speed in three or four seconds.’
’And I’m a novice driver without much experience. I gunned it too hard before and couldn’t handle it. But now that I understand my own situation, I know I’m just starting out. I just need to not slam the gas pedal.’
Fang Zhen quickly understood his current state.
With his previous experience, he was much more composed and managed to control the concentrated Spiritual Power with relative stability.
"Yes, now you just need to use your will to move the concentrated Spiritual Power to the Extraordinary Item. Just imagine it’s a small stream, and the water is flowing from your hands to the Extraordinary Item," Matthew guided from the side.
Fang Zhen tried to imagine the hazy white light flowing like a stream into the ruby pendant on his chest.
He suddenly realized that this kind of visualization was somewhat unnecessary.
His control over the Spiritual Power represented by the hazy white light was far more precise than mere guidance. With just a slight thought, the hazy white light flowed into the Ruby Three-leaf Clover Pendant on his chest.
At that moment, his body jolted.
The once-chaotic power within the Ruby Three-leaf Clover Pendant became clear and orderly under the influence of his Spiritual Power.
Previously, Fang Zhen had felt what seemed like a faint, constant electric current passing through his body, a process he couldn’t control.
But now, he could delve deep into this power and see it clearly. As a result, the power within the Ruby Three-leaf Clover Pendant became distinct, orderly, and available for him to command.
He could now clearly sense that the core of the Ruby Three-leaf Clover Pendant was in its three rubies. Each ruby leaf contained a kind of structured energy.
However, of the three ruby leaves, the power within two had been depleted, though they were slowly recovering. Only the power in the third leaf was abundant and full.
Once he had this perception, it was as if he could, miraculously, directly sense three fiery red leaves with his consciousness. Two of them were relatively dim, while one was like a blazing flame, vibrant and full of life.
Following his intuition, Fang Zhen guided his Spiritual Power toward the complete, fiery-red leaf.
The moment his Spiritual Power made contact with that complete, fiery-red leaf in his consciousness, a strange sensation welled up.
His Spiritual Power was like a lit fuse, and the red leaf in his mind was the gunpowder. When the two touched, a power so intense it was almost tingling surged forth uncontrollably.
Fang Zhen suddenly noticed his right hand was shaking involuntarily. Above it, a ball of fire was gradually taking shape and coalescing.
’It’s a Flaming Arrow!’
At this moment, he finally confirmed it: the Ruby Three-leaf Clover Pendant was a magic accessory capable of casting Flaming Arrow!
The Dogman Priest’s Flaming Arrow wasn’t a Magic spell it knew itself; it was cast using this magic accessory.
Moreover, this magic accessory wasn’t low-grade. From the looks of it, it could store at least three Flaming Arrow spells. It also seemed to recharge the Magic automatically, though it required a certain amount of time.
Fang Zhen understood all this in an instant, while the Flaming Arrow in his right hand was almost fully formed.
The ball of fire in his hand was bizarre. He could feel that its temperature was definitely not low—at least, it was much, much hotter than the flame of a gas stove—yet his hand didn’t feel burned, nor was his body set alight.
This wasn’t because of his asbestos suit. Instead, some mysterious force was containing the flame’s lethality and temperature, preventing it from erupting.
His hand swayed involuntarily, an instinctual attempt to find a balance for the magical power. This motion helped stabilize the Magic Power, preventing it from exploding in his hand or collapsing.
’So that’s how it works!’
’No wonder spells have a casting animation. This movement is automatic and instinctive, and you have to do it to prevent the Magic from collapsing.’
By casting the spell himself, Fang Zhen instantly understood many principles that had confused him when he had only been an observer.
In that instant, he felt the casting animation was complete.
It was just an instinctual feeling.
He didn’t dare let the fire linger in his hand for too long. He swung his right hand forward. "Go!"
An orange-yellow Flaming Arrow, tinged with white and trailing a tail of fire, shot forward.
That strange sensation welled up again. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
There was a subtle connection between Fang Zhen and the Flaming Arrow, an experience similar to a physical sensation, but not as strong.
He now felt that the connection to the flying Flaming Arrow was a bit like the experience of a statically charged rubber rod attracting the fine hairs on his arm. He could feel its presence, but the link wasn’t that strong.
It was a spiritual link, like a Magician’s thrown knife—released, yet not truly let go.
"Ah! Look out!" Matthew cried out in alarm.
Matthew hadn’t expected the Ruby Three-leaf Clover Pendant to contain such a powerful offensive Magic spell. He cried out and couldn’t help but duck.
The Flaming Arrow was about to hit a tree up ahead.
But with a flick of his will, Fang Zhen felt a slight drain on his Spirit. As if by remote control, he altered the Flaming Arrow’s trajectory, preventing it from striking the large tree just ahead.
The Flaming Arrow was fast, at least faster than when he had seen the Dogman Priest cast it.
The fiery light illuminated the forest before them.
Fang Zhen controlled it again.
He could feel that the farther the Flaming Arrow traveled from him, the weaker his sense of spiritual control became.
’The maximum range... is it about seventy meters?’
Not wanting the Flaming Arrow to go out of control, Fang Zhen simply steered it into a solitary tree.
BOOM!
The Flaming Arrow slammed into it.
Sparks flew, and an explosion rang out!
