"Be here tomorrow at 8:30." Fang Zhen sent the location of the factory he'd rented to Weilong Outdoor.

"You got it. Expect the delivery tomorrow morning," Weilong Outdoor replied.

After settling this matter, Fang Zhen felt a little more at ease.

Everything he was doing now could slightly increase his probability of clearing the Ancient Castle Caverns instance.

Buying a Liquefied Gas Cylinder would increase his clearance probability by 10%, and buying a new high-performance compound crossbow would increase it by 8%.

By accumulating advantages like this, he would eventually raise his clearance probability to a very high level.

Instead of going straight home, Fang Zhen took a car to a well-regarded rental agency near his house.

He went through the procedures, paid the deposit, and rented an old Toyota RAV4.

He would need a car for the next few days, and buying one now would be a waste of time, so he rented one for a week to use for now.

Fang Zhen finished renting the car. The weekly rent was 1,500, which wasn't particularly expensive.

He drove home.

He found a local errand runner on WeChat and asked him to go to a nearby gas station to buy two small iron cans of gasoline.

He still had empty bottles at home, but he was almost out of gasoline, and he wanted to make some Molotov Cocktails.

The Black Armored Fierce Ghost had strong defenses, but it wasn't necessarily fire-resistant.

He had added runners like this on WeChat before. These guys earned money by running errands, doing all sorts of tasks for people who were unwilling to wait in line, didn't have the time, or were just lazy. It was a bit like a jack-of-all-trades service, and they could earn twenty yuan or more per job.

In the past, Fang Zhen had been relatively diligent and had rarely used such services.

Now that his time and energy were precious and he wasn't short on money, he had 'reactivated' these types of services. He would save whatever time and energy he could.

Fang Zhen didn't wait long. The errand runner hadn't arrived yet, but the truck delivering the liquefied gas had pulled up downstairs.

A deliveryman specializing in carrying liquefied gas brought the Liquefied Gas Cylinder upstairs.

Fang Zhen signed for it and paid.

The deliveryman was in his forties, dressed in a blue work uniform. He left as soon as he brought the gas up.

Not long after, the errand runner arrived, bringing two small iron cans of gasoline.

"Bro, this stuff wasn't easy to buy. They even asked for my ID. I had to talk their ear off before they'd sell it to me," the errand runner said.

Fang Zhen chuckled. "Yeah, they're strict about it."

He paid for the order.

After taking care of these things, he went back inside.

'After this instance, I should probably expand that trading company I keep for my social security.'

'I don't need the company to make a lot of money. I'll just hire some people to handle trivial matters. On one hand, they can help me gather resources. On the other, they can take care of these daily tasks, saving me time and energy. Plus, for things where it's inconvenient for me to use my ID, I can use theirs.'

'And services like these errand runners—I should use them more often. It's not about the ten or twenty yuan; it's mainly about the convenience. The time saved is more than worth it, even if I just use it to rest and recover my stamina.'

Fang Zhen made his plans.

He went back inside and started making Molotov Cocktails.

「The next day.」

Fang Zhen woke up quite early. He had washed up and eaten before 8:00, then went downstairs and drove to the factory district.

At 8:25, he arrived at the rented factory.

He stayed in his car near the factory and sent a message to Weilong Outdoor via WeChat.

"I'm here. Where's the driver?"

Weilong Outdoor replied instantly: "He's nearby. I'll send you the driver's WeChat contact. You guys can share locations to connect."

"Okay."

Weilong Outdoor sent a contact card, and Fang Zhen added him.

The driver's WeChat name was simple: A Xiaojun.

People with names like that usually wanted to appear at the top of their friends' contact lists. It gave the impression that he wasn't very old.

He added him as a friend and sent a message: "I'm here. I've shared my location with you."

A Xiaojun: "Be right there."

After waiting a few minutes, Fang Zhen saw a white Nissan SUV approaching.

He honked his horn to signal.

The Nissan honked back, flashed its headlights twice, and pulled over.

"This feels like a meet-up with an undercover agent in a Xiangjiang cop movie." Fang Zhen chuckled and got out of the car.

The Nissan also stopped, and a driver got out.

The driver wasn't old, maybe twenty-four or twenty-five, about 175 cm tall, and dressed in ordinary clothes. He looked a bit tired and gave off the impression of being quiet—an introvert, at first glance.

Fang Zhen greeted him.

The driver, A Xiaojun, nodded. As expected, he wasn't very talkative.

"The stuff is in the back."

Xiaojun walked to the back of the SUV and opened the trunk.

Fang Zhen looked inside. There was an assembled compound crossbow, two long wooden boxes, and three Anti-Riot Shields.

These Anti-Riot Shields weren't the same kind Fang Zhen had bought before; they were of much lower quality. They were the semi-transparent, reinforced plastic type and looked relatively cheap.

"My brother said you wanted Armor-Piercing Arrows, so you must be testing penetration. We happened to have some used, decommissioned Anti-Riot Shields, so he said to bring them along for you to test. They're for sale, cheap. Two hundred a piece," Xiaojun said.

"Heh, your brother's quite the businessman," Fang Zhen said with a smile.

"Yeah." Xiaojun nodded.

Fang Zhen read between the lines. Being able to get their hands on decommissioned Anti-Riot Shields, Weilong Outdoor probably had some connections with the local military or police.

But that had nothing to do with him.

Xiaojun was a real clam, said very little, and didn't seem to have much life experience.

Fang Zhen made some small talk, and he soon learned that Weilong Outdoor was Xiaojun's cousin.

As they spoke, Fang Zhen had Xiaojun carry the equipment and they went into the factory to test it.

Fang Zhen had the key and unlocked the door. He carried the compound crossbow and one Anti-Riot Shield, while Xiaojun carried the rest of the gear.

The two of them walked into the factory, and Xiaojun, who had been quiet the whole time, had his eyes light up.

"This is nice," Xiaojun said. Then, for a change, he took the initiative to speak, asking Fang Zhen, "Bro, is this your factory?"

"Sort of. It's a rental," Fang Zhen said.

They weren't close, so there was no need to explain it in detail.

"That's amazing. My dream is to have my own factory just like this one." An expression of longing appeared on Xiaojun's face.

Following that, Xiaojun became a little more enthusiastic than before.

Fang Zhen smiled.

He needed to test the compound crossbow and the Armor-Piercing Arrows, and he could do it outside without going into the factory building.

There were bricks scattered all over the factory grounds. Fang Zhen and Xiaojun gathered some, stacked them up to brace a reinforced plastic Anti-Riot Shield, and set it up in the open space in front of the factory building.

Fang Zhen, meanwhile, stood sixty or seventy meters away.

Xiaojun opened the long wooden box he had carried over.

Inside were Crossbow Arrows with different types of heads.

Fang Zhen looked over. He had never seen many of these arrowheads before; they were a bit exotic.

"My brother said you wanted special Crossbow Arrows, so these are them. You didn't specify exactly what you wanted, so I brought two of each. I brought a few extra of the ones with armor-piercing effects," Xiaojun said.

"We've got whistlers, Three-edged Willow Leaf, bone-piercers, Meteor Hammer, armor-piercers, fishing & hunting, Blue Elf, tomahawk, G5, and Black Widow."

"The armor-piercers, Meteor Hammers, G5s, and so on can all penetrate armor, so I brought a few extra of each."

Fang Zhen picked up one of the special Crossbow Arrows from the ground.

The arrowhead was about the same thickness as the shaft, tapering toward a three-edged tip. The whole thing was streamlined and looked very smooth.

"That's the Armor-Piercing one. I brought the most of these, six in total," Xiaojun said.

Fang Zhen picked up another Crossbow Arrow. This one was special. Its head was much thicker than the shaft and somewhat squarish, with the front split into four petals like a flower. The outside of the arrowhead was painted black, while the inside was metallic white.

"That's a Meteor Hammer. Don't be fooled by the lack of a sharp tip; its armor-piercing capability is still very strong. It just doesn't perform well against plastic Anti-Riot Shields. It's excellent against metal or harder armor," Xiaojun explained.

Xiaojun might be a clam, but when it came to these Crossbow Arrows, he knew them like the back of his hand.

Fang Zhen put down the Meteor Hammer and saw another rather unique arrowhead.

The arrowhead was long and slender. Its main body was a blue metal cylinder, not much thicker than the shaft, with a sharp, triangular metal point at the front. What made it special were two thin barbs on either side. These metal barbs could be pulled back, revealing themselves to be double-edged hooks that, along with the tip, formed the shape of an airplane's wings and nose.

The more he looked at it, the more familiar it seemed. Suddenly, a flash of inspiration hit him, and he remembered where he had seen it.

"Aren't these those vicious arrows used by Yu Huatian of the West Depot?" Fang Zhen recognized it instantly.

Yu Huatian of the West Depot was a character from a fairly famous movie.

"What the Eastern Depot dares not manage, I will. Who the Eastern Depot dares not kill, I will kill."

Right at the beginning of the movie, there was a type of deadly arrow that, after entering a person's body, would have its mechanism triggered by the resistance, expanding the wound inside the body and forming barbs that were impossible to pull out. Truly vicious. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

He never expected to see one in real life.

"Blue Elf. The arrowhead is especially nasty. It destroys a huge chunk of flesh and can't be pulled out. Its armor-piercing capability hasn't been tested, though. I can only say it probably doesn't perform as well as the Armor-Piercing Arrow," Xiaojun said.

Fang Zhen shook his head slightly.

'These things, combined with a high-draw-weight compound crossbow... they're really toeing the line of the law.'

'The stuff Weilong Outdoor sells is truly dangerous.'

'But on second thought, it's not like they're the ones using it. I'm the buyer and the end user.'

'Oh, never mind then.'

"I'll give it a try," Fang Zhen said.

"Alright. But aside from the six Armor-Piercing arrows, I only brought four each of the G5s and Meteor Hammers, and two of everything else. And if you test them on the Anti-Riot Shield, both the shield and the arrowhead will be ruined," Xiaojun said.

Fang Zhen nodded.

He still had to try. It was crucial to know the true power of the equipment in his hands; it was part of knowing himself and his enemy.

Besides, he also needed to familiarize himself with the compound crossbow.

The N2 compound crossbow was already assembled and ready to use.

Fang Zhen took a look and figured out its mechanics in less than half a minute.

The N2 was purely a crossbow, having nothing to do with shooting marbles. It should be classified as a Crossbow, and with its pulleys and winch, it was a compound crossbow design.

Xiaojun stood by and taught Fang Zhen how to operate it.

The method for cocking the compound crossbow was to hold the front down with one's foot. The stock had a built-in winch, which didn't have a handle but came with a black metal rod.

By inserting the metal rod into the winch's slot, it would be relatively fixed in place. Then, turning the rod would use the power of the pulleys to cock the crossbow.

The key to cocking it was to maintain a constant speed and apply even force.

Fang Zhen finished cocking the string. He heard a CLICK and knew he had done it successfully.

He mentally estimated the time.

The N2 compound crossbow might be more powerful, but its cocking speed was slower, taking at least ten-odd seconds.

"Every trade has its specialist. The same applies to arrows. Let's test the Armor-Piercing one first."

Fang Zhen picked out an Armor-Piercing Arrow and nocked it.

Using the optical sight on the N2, he aimed at the distant Anti-Riot Shield.

He directly activated his Steady Shot skill.

Instantly, that familiar sensation of enhanced stability for his shot washed over him.

Fang Zhen pulled the trigger.

"VWOOSH!"

The Crossbow Arrow shot out, the sound of it tearing through the air distinctly different from that of the Hunting Crossbow.

In an instant, the fired Crossbow Arrow crossed the seventy-plus meters and struck the Anti-Riot Shield.

Fang Zhen raised an eyebrow.

'Did it go through?'
