My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 86: New Family Member
γNoon.γ π§πππππ«π·π€πΏππ‘.ππ€πΆ
Lin Feng pushed the baby stroller into the garden to let the babies bask in the sun. He had just spread out the picnic mat and placed the four of them on it when a strange sound drifted over.
RUSTLE... RUSTLE...
Lin Feng focused his gaze and discovered an uninvited guest in the garden. This newcomer was squatting by the villaβs entrance, staring intently at the babies on the picnic mat.
Lin Feng was curious. How on earth did it get in?
The eldest baby, Da Bao, seemed to have noticed its presence as well. He stretched out a tiny hand, pointed ahead, and made cooing and babbling sounds as if to say hello.
"MEOW..."
Thatβs right. The uninvited guest was none other than a cat. Moreover, it was a plump orange domestic cat. It looked quite round and seemed to have a very good-natured and placid temperament.
Of course, to Lin Feng, no matter how placid it looked, it was still a potential threat to the babies. It didnβt look like a pet, so it was probably a neighborhood stray. Still, Lin Feng couldnβt help but wonder. How did it manage to get in?
The chubby cat arched its back and, as if this was its own home, strolled leisurely toward the living room. Lin Feng followed closely, having no intention of chasing it away. Instead, he went into the kitchen, took out a strip of dried fish, and used it to lure the cat out.
As Lin Feng backed away, the chubby cat followed closely behind.
"Come on, have some fish..."
The chubby cat was clearly a foodie. Once it caught the fishy scent, its eyes were fixed on the dried fish, and it left the living room without a second thought. Lin Feng used the fish strip to lead the chubby cat to the entrance, then placed it on the ground in front of the cat.
It was very docile and not particularly afraid of people.
While it was munching on the fish, Lin Feng found a cage and placed it over the cat, preventing it from running around or potentially harming the babies.
Lin Feng went to the kitchen to wash his hands, then returned to the garden to bring the babies inside. Only then did he have time to consider how to handle the chubby cat. He felt uneasy about just throwing it out. After all, this was a luxury villa district, not some place with plenty of kitchen waste for strays to eat. A cat of its size would probably starve to death before long.
But if I keep it, Iβm afraid it might hurt the babies, he thought.
Inside the cage, the chubby cat finished the dried fish and meowed a few times. It didnβt struggle, sitting obediently and cleaning its paws.
Hearing the catβs meows, the babies all pricked up their ears, their faces full of curiosity. In their short lives, they had never been this close to a small animal before.
Lin Feng hesitated for a moment.
Forget it. Iβll take this chubby cat to the pet hospital for a check-up first. If there are no problems, Iβll ask my wife what we should do with it.
Stray cats can carry a lot of germs. He remembered a former roommateβs girlfriend who brought a stray cat back to their dorm; she contracted ringworm not long after. For the babiesβ safety, it was better to be cautious.
The chubby cat lay in the cage, occasionally licking its paws, appearing to be quite enjoying itself.
γBefore long.γ
Zhang Yuxi came home and saw the chubby cat.
"Wow! What a chubby cat!" she exclaimed. "Honey, did you buy this cat?"
Lin Feng shook his head. "No, it just wandered in on its own."
"A stray?" Zhang Yuxi asked. "Honey, what are you planning to do?"
"After lunch, you watch the babies, and Iβll take this chubby cat to the vet to get it checked out."
After lunch, Lin Feng put the chubby cat into a cardboard box and drove it to a nearby pet hospital for a full check-up.
After the examination, the veterinarian told Lin Feng, "The cat is very healthy, with no illnesses. It must have been a pet before; itβs already been spayed."
"Then why did it wander in here?" Lin Feng asked, puzzled.
"It was probably hungry," the vet replied, petting the chubby catβs head with a smile. "From the looks of it, itβs been a stray for over half a year. It has a great temperament."
Lin Feng nodded. He had the clinic give the cat a bath and two vaccinations. While there, he also bought a bag of cat food, some canned food, and other supplies.
Finally, a clinic employee handed the clean, fluffy cat into Lin Fengβs arms.
"MROW..."
The chubby cat lay in Lin Fengβs arms, squinting its eyes sleepily and letting out a soft purr.
Lin Fengβs heart softened. "Alright, letβs go. Iβm taking you home."
Lin Feng carried the chubby cat, left the pet hospital, and drove home.
γBack home.γ
Lin Feng set the chubby cat on the floor.
"Honey, watch the cat for a moment. Iβm going to set up a bed for it."
"Okay~"
Zhang Yuxi had also taken a great liking to the chubby cat. She walked over and gently rubbed its head. Meanwhile, Lin Feng set up a little bed for the cat in a corner of the living room, placing a water bowl and a food dish next to it.
When Lin Feng came back, he saw the chubby cat squatting on the ground, looking up at the babies on the sofa, where Zhang Yuxi was lying and playing with them.
The scene was quite harmonious.
But in the next second, the cat did something that made the coupleβs hearts leap into their throats. It suddenly leaped onto the sofa. Then, it squatted there, staring at the babies, motionless.
Zhang Yuxi was startled.
Lin Feng furrowed his brow and made a bold decision. "Honey, come over here," he whispered. "Letβs just watch and see if the cat will hurt them when theyβre alone together."
Since weβve decided to keep this chubby cat, itβs inevitable that it will eventually be alone with the babies. So Lin Feng wanted to run a test.
Zhang Yuxi hesitated for a moment before getting off the sofa. The couple hid behind the curtains, watching the chubby catβs every move.
After Zhang Yuxi left, the babies began to look for their mother. Just then, the chubby cat meowed a few times, attracting their attention. Then, it stretched lazily and padded toward them. Seeing this furry little ball, the babies were instantly intrigued and reached out to grab it.
The eldest baby was the most mischievous; he grabbed the chubby catβs rear and tugged its tail.
Seeing this, the couple was terrified. Everyone knows you canβt touch a tigerβs backside... and a catβs tail is just as off-limits!
Just when they thought the chubby cat was about to harm the baby and were ready to jump out and intervene, the chubby cat just meowed twice, flicked its tail, and began to play with the eldest baby. This made the baby giggle with delight.
The other babies also crawled over, petting the chubby catβs head and babbling at it. Babies get very excited when they encounter something new, and their hands arenβt always gentle. The fourth baby hugged the cat, trying to ride on its back, but accidentally lost his balance and tumbled down. Fortunately, there were cushions on the sofa, so the fall didnβt hurt.
Even with the fourth baby trying to ride it, the cat only meowed gently a few times before shifting its body away.
It seems... this chubby cat actually quite likes the babies.
