My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 740: Gave a Hundred Million as Pocket Money
It was still daylight when they started, but by the time they snapped out of their shopping spree, the sky had already turned dark.
Goodness, Zhang Yuxi thought she had bought quite a lot, only to realize Shao Yang’s hands were full of shopping bags—and San Bao was loaded down too! Only Xiao Bao was empty-handed, munching on a snack.
Upon asking, she learned they were trinkets Xiao Bao had bought for her classmates and teachers.
"The car is parked nearby," Shao Yang said. "I’ll put these in the car first, and then we can get back to some serious shopping."
After finishing up on the commercial street, their next destination was the luxury shopping district.
"We should look for some nice bags and jewelry," Zhang Yuxi mused, "to give to our relatives... and to An Lan, of course."
Every time they went abroad, they inevitably bought a heap of gifts for people back home.
Shao Yang added, "Mom, Dad, if you don’t find anything you like here, we can go to my company’s warehouse. There’s plenty more to choose from there."
Faced with such a magnanimous son-in-law, the couple couldn’t help but feel a surge of joy and pride, though they couldn’t quite put their finger on why. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Walking into a handbag boutique, the staff immediately greeted them with enthusiasm. As employees in the luxury goods industry, how could they not recognize Shao Yang’s face?
In that one store, Zhang Yuxi picked out eight bags! When it was time to pay, Shao Yang simply signed his name on the order, putting it all on his tab.
Zhang Yuxi tried to object, but San Bao insisted she accept them.
"Mom, Shao Yang gets an internal discount on these bags; they’re incredibly cheap for him!" she explained. "From now on, whenever you shop at any of his stores, just give him a heads-up. You won’t have to pay."
Zhang Yuxi was taken aback. "That... that doesn’t seem right..."
Before San Bao could say more, Shao Yang hurried over, as if afraid Zhang Yuxi wouldn’t spend his money.
"Mom, if you feel bad about it, I’ll just tell all my brick-and-mortar stores to put all your purchases on my account."
This left Zhang Yuxi quite flustered. "This... this..."
"Just accept it," Lin Feng said calmly. "It’s a token of his sincerity."
Only then did Zhang Yuxi relent.
Shao Yang quickly reassured her, "Mom, it really doesn’t cost much to put it on my account! Besides, these are all my properties. After San Bao and I get married, they’ll be her properties too."
Zhang Yuxi and Lin Feng couldn’t help but glance at San Bao.
Composed as ever, San Bao simply replied to Shao Yang, "I have my own company to run. Your properties are your own."
Shao Yang just smiled and didn’t press the topic.
They had dinner at a five-star hotel, ordering all the signature dishes pictured on the menu. Although Lin Feng was now the richest man in the country, this was his first time at a five-star restaurant abroad; he had only been to a few domestically.
The restaurant’s decor oozed luxury, and their private room was even more elegant. The view of the neon cityscape from the massive floor-to-ceiling windows was so beautiful it was captivating. Of course, the signature dishes came with a hefty price tag.
The food was decent, but the steak was truly exceptional; Xiao Bao gobbled up two whole pieces.
"Dad, this black pepper steak is so delicious! Can you make it for me when we get back?"
Lin Feng laughed. "I can probably get the taste right, but I might not be able to replicate the texture of the steak."
Xiao Bao didn’t mind at all. "That’s okay! Anything Dad makes is delicious."
When they returned to Shao Yang’s villa, Zhang Yuxi and San Bao sorted through the shopping receipts while discussing what Shao Yang had said earlier that day.
"Have you considered marrying Shao Yang?"
"I haven’t, no. He, on the other hand, is eager to get married and have children—preferably three of them."
"So, you two..."
"There won’t be any babies. We’re both rational people, and he respects my choice."
The next day, they visited San Bao’s studio. It was two or three times larger than her studio in Yangcheng and looked more like a proper company. With Shao Yang’s help, the company was on track to go public in the second half of the year. If that happened, San Bao would likely be living abroad for the long term.
"It’s so beautiful here, and the sunlight is wonderful..." Zhang Yuxi said before pulling San Bao aside. "Do you still have money?" she asked quietly. "Running such a large company and preparing for an IPO must cost a fortune."
"Yes, I do," San Bao replied, a little puzzled.
Zhang Yuxi frowned. "If you have it, you have it. If you don’t, you don’t. Don’t hide it from me."
San Bao blinked. "Mom, I really do! My years of hard work weren’t for nothing. You don’t need to worry about money. If I ever ran out, I would tell you."
Zhang Yuxi fell silent for a moment, her voice softening.
"San Bao, of our four children, you’ve always been the most well-behaved. You’ve never given us a moment’s worry. At the same time, your dad and I dote on you the most. When you lived with us, we could see how you were doing with our own eyes, so we didn’t have to worry.
"But now, you live overseas. A single flight takes thirty to forty hours. You’re so far away that some things are simply beyond our reach. There are things your dad and I can’t help with, but we do have money. We’d be happy even if you quit your job and just stayed home doing nothing."
Her voice began to choke with emotion. "Work is secondary. Our biggest worry is you. We’re afraid you aren’t eating or sleeping well, that you’re being too hard on yourself."
San Bao understood. Seeing her mother’s eyes redden, she felt a sting in her own nose.
"Mom, you and Dad can rest assured, I’ll take good care of myself. And if I run out of money, I’ll definitely ask you for more."
Xiao Bao came pattering over, her little face beaming. "Mom, Sister San Bao, what are you talking about?"
Zhang Yuxi turned away to compose herself.
San Bao smiled. "Just asking if you’ve been studying hard and behaving at home!"
Xiao Bao huffed proudly. "I’m the best-behaved! I got a 99 in Chinese and a 100 in math on my midterms!"
San Bao smoothed Xiao Bao’s hair. "That’s amazing!"
Xiao Bao giggled, delighted by the praise.
After touring their daughter’s studio, Shao Yang took them to his office.
An entire building belonged to Shao Yang.
Yes, an entire building.
Shao Yang had a private car elevator that went directly up to his top-floor office. People often say that poverty limits the imagination, and as the wealthiest man in his country, even Lin Feng had never seen such a spectacle. He had seen private elevators before, but a private elevator a car could drive into? That was a first.
The top floor spanned over five hundred square meters, all of it his office space. His personal office, which was over 150 square meters, gave off an icy, oppressive feeling upon entering.
Looking down from the floor-to-ceiling windows, Zhang Yuxi murmured, clutching her chest, "Oh, my heart... It’s so high up."
The most eye-catching feature in the office was the enormous desk, followed by the opulent set of genuine leather sofas across from it. The space was sparsely decorated with a few paintings and several potted plants.
Just then, a man in a suit approached. He was the same assistant Shao Yang always brought with him to Yangcheng. Showing no surprise at the guests, he poured them drinks and quietly withdrew.
Xiao Bao squatted by the window for a moment, then stood up, complaining of dizziness. Never one to stay still, she wanted to explore.
Next to Shao Yang’s office was another one for his three secretaries, one of whom was currently on a business trip. Next to that was an impressive conference room of about one hundred square meters, which looked like it could seat around fifty people. Xiao Bao poked her head in for a look before backing out.
"This is the lounge, this is my gym, and this is my garage," Shao Yang explained.
The garage housed three cars: one worth five million, the others each valued in the tens of millions.
Thinking of his earlier offer, Xiao Bao asked, "Brother-in-law, can I see the warehouse?"
Zhang Yuxi softly scolded her daughter.
Shao Yang laughed. "Mom, please don’t be like that. We’re all family!" Then, turning to Xiao Bao, he said, "Come on, your brother-in-law will take you to the warehouse."
When they arrived at the warehouse via the private elevator, someone was already there to greet them, despite their lack of an appointment. Shao Yang and San Bao’s relationship was common knowledge, so no introductions were necessary.
"This is my father-in-law, my mother-in-law, and this is my little sister-in-law, Xiao Bao," Shao Yang explained to the man.
The greeter’s smile grew even wider. He greeted them warmly and handed over a business card, explaining they could contact him for any future warehouse transfers or inventory inquiries.
The warehouse was enormous, spanning five floors. Aside from jewelry, Xiao Bao had little interest in clothes, shoes, or bags. A guide with an encyclopedic knowledge of the products accompanied them.
"This handbag is the latest early summer model, made of top-layer cowhide, completely handcrafted..."
"This one is made of lambskin, with the pattern hand-embroidered."
They left the tour laden with bags once more. They were all items Shao Yang insisted were suitable gifts for his future in-laws, making them impossible to refuse. As for Xiao Bao, she received a limited-edition teddy bear backpack with eyes made from two carats of real diamonds, with a retail price of 180,000.
That evening, after dinner, they flew back to L City. With a thousand things left unsaid, all they could do was tell San Bao to take good care of herself.
On the airplane, Xiao Bao was fast asleep, exhausted from the past two days. The couple, however, couldn’t sleep, uncertain when they would see their daughter again.
"Husband," Zhang Yuxi whispered, "sometimes I think we should just forget about Shao Yang. We could find someone for San Bao back home."
"But from what I can see, they seem to be in a great relationship," Lin Feng replied.
San Bao’s heart was heavy as well. She returned to the villa feeling dejected. While unpacking, she discovered a bank card and a note her father had left behind.
*San Bao, there is one hundred million in this card. Keep it and spend it on yourself.*
*If you ever run out of money, just tell your mom and dad. Never let yourself suffer over something like money!*
*And remember, your mom, your dad, and everyone in our family loves you!*
At the bottom of the note was a chubby little heart drawn by Lin Feng.
"Why are you crying? What’s this?" Shao Yang came over and wrapped his arms around her. He then caught sight of the bank card and the note, and he sucked in a sharp breath.
Did his father-in-law just give her a hundred million in pocket money?
