My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 699: What If I Got Pregnant?
After dinner, Qin Jiang showed no signs of leaving. Seeing this, Shao Yang didn’t take the initiative to suggest leaving either.
"Want to play Fight the Landlord?" Si Bao asked with a smile.
Qin Jiang replied, "Yeah."
Shao Yang didn’t know the game, but he was a quick learner and had figured it out after a few rounds.
Si Bao handed the cards to Da Bao. "I’ll take a break. You take over, Big Bro."
Da Bao, who had been on his computer, looked up and smiled. "I haven’t played in a long time. Bring it on."
A thought flickered through Qin Jiang’s mind. "Go easy on me, Big Bro."
Da Bao laughed. "Sure."
Several rounds in, Da Bao, who had been winning consistently, noticed Shao Yang was unsure what to play. He reminded him, "Don’t you have a 3-4-5-6-7 straight?"
Shao Yang pondered for a moment before saying, "Let me see..." Then it dawned on him. "You can count cards?"
Da Bao gave a small smile. "A little."
Shao Yang was speechless.
It was all in good fun. After taking a call, Da Bao handed the cards back to Si Bao.
Si Bao took them with a laugh. "Alright, looks like it’s up to me again."
He had grown more robust over the years. With his handsome face and powerful physique, he could put the models on fashion week runways to shame. Unlike Da Bao, who sat primly and properly, Si Bao lounged on the sofa, humming a tune nonchalantly as he played.
The villa had everything one could ask for, including a swimming pool and gym equipment. Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi went for an afternoon nap, leaving the younger generation to entertain themselves.
In the gym, Si Bao cupped his fists, clearly looking to stir things up. "Qin Jiang, since you’re a soldier, why not have a friendly spar with us?"
Qin Jiang was frank. "That’s not a good idea. The things I’ve learned are dangerous, completely different from what you guys do."
Si Bao insisted it was fine, just a light spar, nothing serious. Besides, they were just idle anyway.
Qin Jiang felt he couldn’t just refuse. "Then who wants to spar with me?"
Of course, it was Si Bao! Da Bao going to the gym once a week was already unprecedented. Si Bao, on the other hand, was a natural athlete. He hadn’t slacked off since retiring, and his skills were the strongest of the four siblings.
"Boxing?"
"Anything is fine," Qin Jiang replied.
Er Bao and San Bao watched from the side. Seeing Qin Jiang’s physique, Er Bao recalled that this was one of the first things that had attracted her to him.
Si Bao was clearly no match for Qin Jiang. He took a few solid hits, and Er Bao, watching from the side, couldn’t help but feel her heart ache for him.
"You jerk! He’s my little brother, how could you hit him like that?"
Qin Jiang said flatly, "I was already holding back."
Er Bao quickly rushed to her brother’s side to ask if he was alright.
Catching his breath, Si Bao said, "I’m fine, it doesn’t hurt."
Er Bao frowned. "Are you sure you’re okay?"
"I’m sure," Si Bao said, very certain. "I asked for this, so I deserve the beating." It actually hurt like hell!
Qin Jiang couldn’t help but laugh. "I really was going easy on him."
Si Bao forced a smile. He glanced worriedly at Er Bao and hesitated before speaking. "Sis, maybe you should think things over a bit more."
"If he bullies you in the future, we might not be able to beat him even if all of us gang up on him... I’m just worried you’ll be at a disadvantage."
Er Bao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Indeed. This is a serious issue that requires careful consideration."
Qin Jiang’s face darkened. "I didn’t hit him hard. It wasn’t serious."
"Besides, I never hit women. I swear."
Er Bao just chuckled, which made Qin Jiang’s face grow even darker. He was sure Si Bao was doing it on purpose. He really hadn’t hit him hard; who knew his little brother-in-law was so delicate?
Er Bao picked up the boxing gloves from the ground. "Come on. You and I can have a little spar."
Qin Jiang took a step back. "Stop messing around."
"I’m not messing around," Er Bao said calmly. "I’m serious."
Si Bao grabbed her arm. "Sis, don’t do anything rash! You’re no match for him."
Qin Jiang took off his own boxing gloves and said earnestly, "You really are no match for me. Besides..."
His gaze, full of ambiguous meaning, landed on Er Bao’s stomach. "You should take better care of yourself."
The look was so obvious that everyone couldn’t help but follow his gaze to Er Bao’s stomach.
Er Bao’s eyes widened. "Why are you looking at my stomach?"
Then, Qin Jiang dropped a bombshell. "There might be a baby in there. I’m afraid I’d hurt our child."
A profound silence fell, broken only by Er Bao’s mortified and furious voice. "Bullshit! How could I possibly be pregnant?"
Qin Jiang countered, "Why not? I’m a normal man... Or is there something wrong with you?"
This made Er Bao even angrier. "Bullshit! There’s nothing wrong with me!"
"Oh," Qin Jiang said. "Then wouldn’t getting pregnant be perfectly normal?"
Er Bao had no idea how he could be so certain. "We used protection! Pregnant my ass!"
She was so angry she didn’t want to speak to him anymore. She threw the boxing gloves down. "I’m done wasting my breath on you. Come on, Si Bao, let’s get you some ointment."
Fearing she was genuinely upset, Si Bao quickly followed. "Sis, don’t be angry. What if there really is a little baby? I’m going to be an uncle!"
Er Bao looked at him as if he were a complete idiot. "Are you nuts? I am not pregnant!"
At that moment, San Bao came over. "Let me take your pulse, Sis."
Er Bao held out her wrist. "Go ahead." Pregnant? Hah! Not a chance!
San Bao stared at Er Bao without blinking.
Er Bao, who had been so sure of herself just a moment ago, was now squirming. "Well? What’s the verdict? I’m... I’m not pregnant, right?"
Everyone waited for the result.
San Bao smiled slightly. "No."
Er Bao let out a huge sigh of relief. "Good."
She turned her head and saw Qin Jiang’s disappointed face, which made her grind her teeth in anger. "I’ll deal with you later."
Qin Jiang just smiled, seemingly unfazed by her fury. "I’ll go check on him."
"I’ll go get the first-aid kit," Si Bao said, following him out.
This left San Bao and Shao Yang alone.
He’d never even held San Bao’s hand, and she rarely gave him the time of day. That playful little smile she’d given just now... it was absolutely breathtaking.
"You know how to take a pulse? Where did you learn that?"
"My father knows a bit, so I picked up a little from him," San Bao said coolly.
"Oh," Shao Yang said. "Why not take a look at mine?"
I can’t tell anything from his pulse, San Bao thought. The rolling pulse of a pregnant woman—like pearls dropping on a jade plate—is something even a novice can detect. But diagnosing other conditions is a different story. He gives me way too much credit.
"Do you know how to box?" she asked instead.
"I do, but I’m not as good as Qin Jiang."
"How about Taekwondo?"
"I know that too."
San Bao took off her jacket. "Come on. Let’s spar."
Shao Yang was astonished, but his surprise quickly turned to elation. "Okay."
San Bao had inherited all the best features from Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi and had been beautiful since she was a child. She used to be sweet and obedient, with a soft, cuddly personality. But after she became hopelessly engrossed in music, she grew more reclusive and serious, rarely smiling or laughing.
Standing in the ring, she gave Shao Yang a slight smile and threw a punch.
Shao Yang had assumed the girl’s moves were just for show, but he was stunned to find she had real skill. She hit him so hard his head was spinning.
"Don’t treat me like a woman," San Bao said. "Come on."
