My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 684 Visiting the Two Sons
In less than three minutes, Si Bao came running over, dressed in a red tracksuit.
"Oh, Dad, you really came?"
Lin Feng couldn’t help but roll his eyes. "What good would it do me to lie to you?"
Si Bao giggled. "I’m just so surprised! This is the first time I’ve had a surprise like this in my whole life."
Lin Feng glanced at him. Compared to the other children in the family, Si Bao had a kind of sunny naivety about him. That’s right, naivety.
Carrying his luggage, Si Bao was beaming. "Dad, what brings you here?"
"Am I interrupting?" Lin Feng asked calmly.
Si Bao hurriedly shook his head. "Not at all, not at all! How could you be interrupting? Even if I’m swamped with work, I have to drop everything when you come to visit."
Lin Feng chuckled. "I called your big brother. You’ll have lunch with me, and he’ll have dinner with me."
"Great!" Si Bao said with a smile.
Lin Feng glanced at the carefree Si Bao. "What about that girl?"
Si Bao was confused for a moment. "Which girl?"
"The girl you like," Lin Feng reminded him. "Take me to meet her."
Si Bao wasn’t embarrassed at all. He picked up his luggage, led his dad to his office, and poured him a glass of water.
Lin Feng took a sip of water and said casually, "I came this time for two reasons. First, to see how you’re doing here. Second, to treat your colleagues and friends to a meal to thank them for taking care of you."
"I’m not familiar with the area, so you can pick the restaurant. It’s my treat."
After Si Bao left the office, Lin Feng put down his water glass and looked around. He noticed several decorations that were completely different from Si Bao’s usual style, such as a few succulents on the windowsill and some cute cartoon stickers.
Half an hour later, Si Bao returned with several of his superiors.
Lin Feng recognized one of them. After a few pleasantries, they decided to have their meal at the hotpot restaurant Lin Feng owned in Jingcheng.
He secured a private room with a single phone call.
In modern slang, you could say Si Bao was a true social butterfly. He greeted his friends and superiors with a flourish, mastering the art of the business dinner with impressive skill.
This time, as expected, Lin Feng also saw the young woman in question.
Her nickname was Xiao Ya. She came from an impeccable family and was also quite beautiful. She carried herself with grace and confidence, but she had a very quiet and gentle personality.
Lin Feng might push his children about marriage, but he would never interfere in their romantic relationships. As long as they liked each other, he would support them, regardless of their partner’s background.
At the dinner table, the mere mention of Xiao Ya’s name made everyone smile knowingly, though no one said anything explicit. It was clear their relationship was an open secret.
With the system in his possession, Lin Feng couldn’t get drunk. His companions also drank in moderation, knowing when to stop.
After lunch, they all had to get back to work. Si Bao offered to take the next day off to show his father around.
Lin Feng smiled. "There’s no need. Your work is more important. I won’t be staying here for many days anyway."
What parent doesn’t want to spend more time with their children? But their work was important, and he didn’t want to get in the way. A parent’s footsteps can no longer keep up with their children’s.
After leaving, Lin Feng took a car to find his eldest son, Da Bao.
Da Bao’s research lab was in a remote location, making it difficult for Lin Feng to see him. First, one needed a security pass and proper identification. Even then, you could only meet Da Bao outside the main facility. Entering the laboratory itself was forbidden, even for family.
As he gazed at the building before him, Lin Feng felt a surge of pride that his son had become a pillar of the nation, and he thought back to a childhood dream.
When I grow up, I want to be a scientist!
He hadn’t achieved it himself, but his son had fulfilled that dream for him.
Da Bao appeared, wearing a white lab coat and walking across a floor so polished it shone like a mirror. "Dad, what brings you here?"
Lin Feng smiled. "I just came to see you. I hope I’m not disrupting your work."
It was definitely a disruption. For people like them, working on R&D projects, life ran like clockwork.
Da Bao smiled. "It’s no disruption. When did you get here? Have you eaten?"
"I arrived a little before noon," Lin Feng said. "I had lunch with your fourth brother and his superiors. What about you? Did you eat?"
"I ate in the cafeteria," Da Bao replied.
When Lin Feng explained the reason for his visit, Da Bao hesitated.
Not wanting to make things difficult for his son, Lin Feng quickly said, "It’s alright. You’re all busy. I’ll head back after seeing you for a bit."
In his heart, he felt an indescribable loneliness.
Da Bao smiled. "Dad, how about this? You can join us for dinner in the cafeteria later. That way, it’ll be convenient for you to meet my colleagues and superiors, and we can consider it as having had our meal together."
Lin Feng understood. Da Bao’s work was incredibly demanding. They were so busy they could go a whole week without checking their phones, returning calls, or replying to messages. They were immersed in their work, almost to the point of forgetting everything else.
Da Bao wasn’t the same as before. He now held several positions and was running a few independent projects, making it impossible for him to get away.
How could Lin Feng refuse any chance to share a meal with his son?
There were still two hours left in the workday, so Lin Feng passed the time in a lounge, reading magazines. He’d had to hand over all his communication devices upon arrival, so magazines were his only option to ward off boredom. These were top-tier global scientific journals, and Da Bao held the record as their youngest-ever published author—a record that remained unbroken.
"Hello." An elderly man in a white lab coat approached him. Lin Feng didn’t recognize him but guessed he was some kind of bigwig.
He stood up. "Hello!"
The old man sat down and started a conversation. "Do you understand what you’re reading?"
Lin Feng chuckled. "I can read the words, but I don’t understand the meaning."
After a brief chat, the old man was surprised to learn that Lin Feng was fluent in eight languages, including the Spanish the journal was written in. The old man was only slightly surprised, as he had met many geniuses in his time. He then asked casually, "And who might you be?"
Lin Feng was taken aback. He had assumed the man already knew who he was, but it seemed he had just come over for a casual chat.
"I’m Lin Feng, Lin Pingping’s father."
After chatting for a while longer, the old man looked at Lin Feng with genuine surprise for the first time. He had assumed Lin Feng was a student or perhaps a researcher who had been transferred to the facility. He never imagined that this man wasn’t a student, but the father of one of his own students! He looked so young and was remarkably handsome.
Lin Feng held the utmost respect for researchers and all those who were pillars contributing to the nation. This old man was indeed a major figure at the lab. He was currently overseeing one of Da Bao’s projects and had high hopes for him. He also expressed great admiration for Lin Feng, praising him for raising such an outstanding son.
Because of Lin Feng’s special status, the serving auntie in the cafeteria kept piling food onto his tray, worried he wouldn’t have enough to eat.
Lin Feng wasn’t a big eater, so he kept repeating, "That’s enough, that’s enough."
As he turned away, the auntie whispered, "Are you really his dad?"
Lin Feng paused. "Yes, I am."
The auntie’s eyes went wide with disbelief. "Wow, you’re so young! People would believe you were brothers."
Lin Feng, who was used to such comments, simply smiled and carried his tray over to where Da Bao was sitting. The cafeteria was spacious and clean. All the researchers around them wore white lab coats with ID badges clipped on.
Lin Feng’s presence drew many curious glances, though the researchers’ expressions were more reserved than the cafeteria auntie’s. The colleagues sitting near Da Bao all had peculiar expressions whenever they heard their esteemed team leader, a titan in their field, call the man who looked to be his contemporary "Dad." They quickly lowered their heads and pretended to focus on their food.
Because everyone was so busy, the original plan to treat his colleagues to a proper dinner had to be scrapped.
Lin Feng still expressed his gratitude to Da Bao’s colleagues and superiors. "Thank you all for taking care of Da Bao. I came in such a rush this time that I wasn’t able to bring anything. Next time, I’ll be sure to bring some homemade snacks for everyone."
One of the more outgoing young men glanced at Lin Feng and mustered up the courage to speak. "Uncle, I was wondering if I could get Lin Yuanyuan’s contact information..."
Under Da Bao’s icy glare, the young man’s voice faded to nothing, and he quickly lowered his head to focus on his food.
That single glance was enough to reveal Da Bao’s authority within the team. Lin Feng felt a sense of relief and pretended he hadn’t quite heard the young man’s request.
Lin Feng took a bite of his food to break the silence. "The food in this cafeteria is excellent! It tastes great."
