Chapter 665: Chapter 665: Group Leader is Awesome!

The next morning, Lin Feng got up early to make breakfast for the children. Zhang Yuxi woke up not long after.

"It’s still early. Why don’t you go back to sleep for a bit?"

Zhang Yuxi shook her head. "I can’t. Is there anything I can help with?"

"Peel this," Lin Feng said, pointing to a cucumber beside them.

For many years, Zhang Yuxi had maintained a very regular routine. With Lin Feng taking care of the household, she didn’t need to worry about much and could spend more time on her career.

But looking back now, she suddenly realized that the children had all grown up. Remembering the past, Zhang Yuxi felt a pang of guilt. For so many years, as a mother, it felt like she hadn’t done much for them. Lin Feng had always been the one taking care of everything.

That was why she didn’t go back to sleep after waking up today. Instead, she went to the kitchen to see if she could help—to do something for her children, who were also quite busy with their work.

As she helped in the kitchen, they began talking about the children’s eventual departure, and she sighed deeply.

"What’s wrong, dear?"

"Nothing. I was just feeling a little sentimental."

Lin Feng smiled. "The children will eventually grow up, get married, and have children of their own..."

Zhang Yuxi smiled back.

Dabao was the first to wake up, with the others following one by one. Sibao was the last to get out of bed.

Today was the 29th of the Twelfth Lunar Month, and the day’s work was to decorate the villa and create a festive New Year’s atmosphere.

They divided the tasks: some hung couplets while others put up decorations. The division of labor, both indoors and outdoors, was clear, and they didn’t finish until after six in the evening. When night fell, the entire house was bathed in red light, looking incredibly festive.

「On New Year’s Eve.」

Lin Feng invited Lin Jie’s family of three and the two elders over to celebrate, making for a grand family reunion. The villa was bustling with activity.

The phone hardly stopped ringing as they called friends and family to wish them a Happy New Year. After the calls, everyone except Sibao had more to do. Dabao and the others had to send emails or make phone calls to their international classmates, teachers, and friends to spread the New Year’s cheer.

The busiest of all was Erbao. Not only did she have her company to manage, but she also had to attend to her accounts on various social media platforms, which required constant maintenance. Meanwhile, she also had to periodically update her personal accounts. Ever since starting her company, Erbao understood the importance of an online presence all too well.

The company managed the various platform accounts for her; she just had to oversee them. The greetings and nine-square grid images for her personal accounts were already prepared. She planned to post them simultaneously at 8:08:08 PM for good luck.

"Second Sis, they’re about to start sending red packets in the family group chat! Hurry up!" Sibao shouted.

Erbao jumped. "Red packets? I’m coming, I’m coming!"

The red packet frenzy began in the massive family group chat. The group included not only close relatives like Lin Xiaolan but also several from their hometown. There were even some of Lin Feng’s childhood and school friends. Lin Feng remembered most of them, though they weren’t close anymore. They didn’t chat much in the group; most of them just lurked.

Someone, no one knew who, started it by sending a 50-yuan red packet split into ten ’lucky share’ packets. The one who received the largest amount—the ’Lucky King’—had to send the next one. The game was set to run from 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM, and participants were not to break the rules. The group hadn’t been very active before, but it gradually started to liven up.

Lin Feng usually just watched silently, rarely joining the conversation. Tonight, during the red packet snatching, he made a rare appearance, typing, "I’m in, too."

The group instantly erupted, with everyone popping up to greet Lin Feng. He responded with emojis. Zhang Yuxi, cracking sunflower seeds beside him, chimed in, "Count me in too, honey!"

In the living room, Lin Jie and his wife, Lin Dashan and his wife, Lin Feng and his wife, and the four older children were all eagerly waiting, their hands poised over their phones. Xiaobao and Mi Fan went off to play something else. With a villa this large, there was no shortage of things to do.

Finding this all quite fun, Erbao immediately updated her status on her various platforms, announcing a lottery event. There would be twenty winners on each platform, with a grand prize of 80,000 yuan and a participation prize of 8 yuan.

At 8:30 PM, the red packet scramble began.

Someone declared, "I’ll start!"

In the family group chat of nearly 200 people, the red packet vanished in a flash.

The red packet relay began, with the ’Lucky King’ of each round having to send out the next 50-yuan packet. The amounts were small; it was all for fun, and participation was what mattered. Everyone was so busy sending packets that there was no time to chat. Any message that was sent was instantly buried.

Wails began to fill the living room.

"That was too fast! It disappeared in a second. I didn’t get a single one."

"Me neither! This is no good, I need to get a new phone!"

"Sorry, everyone, I’m the Lucky King!"

"Don’t just brag, Lucky King, send it!"

"Seriously? 0.02... My luck is just incredible!"

"Hahaha, be grateful! I got 0.01 just now!"

Lin Feng’s fingers were fast, and he was just shy of becoming the Lucky King himself. He leaned against his wife, chatting and snatching red packets together.

"Ah, honey, look! I got 23 yuan! Am I awesome or what?"

"Awesome!"

"Haha, honey, you got fifty cents. Not bad!"

Elsewhere, Erbao was sending out red packets in her company’s group chat. Lin Feng didn’t have to worry about this sort of thing; someone else handled it for him. But Erbao was juggling multiple company group chats, snatching and sending red packets simultaneously. She was swamped.

In the chats, people were exchanging standard New Year greetings, many of which were clearly copied and pasted. Some were even lazier, simply typing "Same as above" or "+1!"

Suddenly, Erbao’s red packet appeared without warning.

"I’ve seen all the hard work and effort you’ve put in this year.

"On behalf of the company and myself, I want to thank all of you.

"In the new year, let’s continue to work together and take our performance to the next level!"

With that said, a second red packet immediately followed!

This one vanished in seconds. Then came the third, gone in five seconds.

She maxed out the sending limit on her main account and switched to a secondary one to keep going. Erbao didn’t count how many red packets she had sent; she stopped when it felt like enough and began to focus on snatching packets in the family group chat.

Meanwhile, the company chat exploded.

In the six months since the company was founded, her employees had come to know their boss, Erbao, as both competent and incredibly generous. Her generosity stemmed from two things: one, she wasn’t short on cash, and two, it was simply her nature.

The main company team was just twenty people, and she kept track of everyone’s birthday. She set up a lottery system for birthdays. When an employee’s birthday arrived, they would draw a card for a gift, which could be luxury lipstick, a day off, a 200-yuan red packet, and so on. During holidays, she would also send red packets.

But this time, it was clear their boss had gone completely wild.

The employees began to flaunt their winnings on their social media feeds.

"First time getting a 50,000-yuan red packet since I joined the company! Thank you, President Tuan! I’ll definitely give my all for the company next year!"

"As the company’s Lucky King, I snagged an 82,000-yuan red packet! Kneeling in thanks to the boss! I seriously love this company!"

"I have to shill for my company! Here’s the 20,000-yuan packet I got. Can’t compare to my colleague’s 78,000, but I’m more than satisfied!"

"The company might be small, but the red packets are huge!"

"The accountant tallied up everyone’s red packets... she sent out 1.5 million..."

"President Tuan is a legend!"

"Is anyone else hiring at our company?"

"President Tuan is sending out ’lucky share’ packets! This is what I got. Here are the totals from our cute accountant. See for yourselves!"
