Chapter 630: Chapter 630: Let’s Go Buy a Car

The She Tai Mountain Manor was quite a distance from the city center, taking about half an hour by car. You win some, you lose some, but the environment here was truly impeccable.

So, for the sake of convenience, Lin Feng planned to buy each of his older children a car. They had already obtained their driver’s licenses during the summer vacation of their sophomore year.

The Second waved her hand with the air of a wealthy young woman. "Dad, we’ll buy our own cars. You don’t need to spend your money."

Lin Feng smiled faintly. "I know you have money, but consider these cars a graduation gift from your father."

The Second, whose eyes always lit up at the prospect of money, immediately piped up, "Dad, if that’s the case, then I’ll happily accept!"

Lin Feng just chuckled and went with his wife and children to buy the cars. They already had a good idea of what they wanted, so they headed straight to the dealership to pick them up.

The Eldest, being mature and steady, chose a seven-seater SUV with an understated appearance, priced at around 800,000.

The Second bought a red, five-seater Jeep for about 1,200,000.

The Third bought a newly released, sky-blue sports sedan with sleek lines, costing around 600,000.

The Fourth went for a Hummer, much bigger than the Second’s Jeep, in a flashy green color with a price tag approaching 1,500,000.

These cars were all purchased from the same dealership. Even for models they didn’t have in stock, the manager arranged to get them from other stores. Having sold four cars at once, the staff was grinning from ear to ear. Their enthusiasm was so great they practically treated Lin Feng like royalty. After sorting out the ownership transfer and insurance, they stood to make a hefty profit.

"Honey, do you want a new car?" Lin Feng asked Zhang Yuxi.

Zhang Yuxi shook her head. "No need, my car still runs perfectly."

Her car was over a decade old but had never given her any trouble. She had considered replacing it, but when she thought about how it could likely last a few more years, she couldn’t bring herself to part with it and decided to keep it.

The Second said excitedly, "Mom, whatever car you want, we’ll all chip in and buy it for you."

Zhang Yuxi shook her head again. "No need, my car is still perfectly fine."

Seeing her insistence, the children didn’t press the issue.

As they drove, the four new cars drew a lot of attention from passersby. The Hummer and the massive Jeep, in particular, turned a lot of heads.

Now that they had cars, they immediately planned to go for a joyride. Xiaobao also clamored to go for a ride in the new cars.

The Fourth patted the steering wheel. "Xiaobao, come with Fourth Brother!"

Without a moment’s hesitation, Xiaobao climbed into the Fourth’s car.

A worried Zhang Yuxi called out a warning, "Drive slowly!"

Watching the four cars speed off into the distance, Zhang Yuxi’s brow remained furrowed with unabated concern.

Lin Feng comforted her, "The kids have graduated from college. Driving will become a daily part of their lives. They’ll get the hang of it with more practice."

Zhang Yuxi knew this was true, but as a mother, she couldn’t help but worry whenever her children weren’t by her side.

They took their joyride in sparsely populated areas. Xiaobao sat in her child safety seat, happily looking this way and that. All four of their new cars were fitted with one. Xiaobao was six, so she didn’t technically need one anymore, but her older siblings had insisted on installing them for their own peace of mind.

Back home, Lin Feng prepared dinner while waiting for the children to return.

Zhang Yuxi emerged from the study. "They aren’t back yet?"

Lin Feng brought over a plate of sliced fruit. "Not yet. They said it would be another ten minutes or so."

The four of them had left at four in the afternoon and didn’t get back until around nine that evening; they had clearly driven to their hearts’ content.

After dinner, Lin Feng told Zhang Yuxi to take Xiaobao upstairs to bed first, as he wanted to have a chat with the older children.

Xiaobao propped her chin on her hands and refused to go upstairs, lying on the sofa and resting her head on her dad’s leg as she played with a toy. Every so often, her little feet would kick out playfully at her Eldest Brother.

It was mid-August. They had been home for over a month, and it was time to ask the four of them about their future plans.

The Eldest interlaced his fingers. "I’ve already decided to join the National Academy of Sciences. I’ll be heading over in September."

He had mentioned this to Lin Feng before, so Lin Feng simply nodded in understanding before turning to the Second.

The Second, sitting across from the Eldest, was tickling Xiaobao’s feet. "Now that I have time, I’m going to focus on making my company bigger and stronger!"

Enjoying the game, Xiaobao instinctively kicked her feet, one after another, against the Eldest.

The Third had decided to pursue further studies.

As for the Fourth, it went without saying that he would continue with the national team.

Lin Feng now had a clear picture. "Those are all excellent plans!"

The Second asked with a cheeky smile, "Dad, are you getting annoyed with us being at home? Is that why you’re so eager to kick us out?"

Lin Feng shot her a glare. "I raised you all from the time you were little. When have I ever found you bothersome?" He then changed his tone. "You could sponge off me for the rest of your lives for all I care, as long as you have the gall to do it."

The Second and the Fourth quickly chimed in, "We’ve got the gall!"

Lin Feng waved his hand in exasperation. "Then you two are truly shameless." He then scooped up the already drowsy Xiaobao. "I’m taking Xiaobao to bed. You should all get some rest soon, too."

The four of them said in unison, "Good night, Dad! Good night, Xiaobao!"

Nestled in Lin Feng’s arms, Xiaobao mumbled a sleepy "good night."

「In the blink of an eye, it was the end of August.」

It was time to register Xiaobao for school. She would be attending the same school her older siblings had gone to. Xiaobao would be in First Grade, Class 7. Her homeroom teacher, who also taught math, was Teacher Zhao. Coincidentally, it was the very same Teacher Zhao who had taught her older siblings.

Teacher Zhao was stunned to see Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi. "You both still look so young! It’s like you haven’t aged a day."

Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi had no answer for that.

Having become a principal herself, Zhang Yuxi was also a very diplomatic person. She said sincerely, "Teacher, from now on, I’ll have to entrust Xiaobao to your care."

Teacher Zhao quickly replied, "Of course, it’s my duty."

After the enrollment procedures were finished, a parent-teacher meeting was held. Lin Feng attended while Zhang Yuxi took Xiaobao for a walk around the campus, telling her stories of her older siblings’ time at the school.

When the meeting ended, Lin Feng took the new textbooks to the small convenience store outside the school to buy book covers. The pencil case, backpack, pencils, and erasers were all ready; the only thing left was to cover the books.

Back at home, Lin Feng cooked while Zhang Yuxi and Xiaobao covered the books together. Then, she watched as Xiaobao awkwardly scrawled out the three characters of her name: Lin Xiaobao. It was so ugly it was hard to look at, and Zhang Yuxi couldn’t help but purse her lips.

Just as they finished, the four older siblings returned. Some came to play with Xiaobao, some helped in the kitchen, and others were busy heading off to work.

As Zhang Yuxi was heading upstairs, she heard the Second mocking Xiaobao.

"Hahaha, Xiaobao, your handwriting is uniquely awful!"

Zhang Yuxi paused on the stairs.

The Second showed the paper to the others. "Come look at Xiaobao’s writing! Hahaha, it’s so bad!"

Xiaobao protested defiantly, "The teacher said I’ve made a lot of progress!"

The Third praised her. "That’s right. It doesn’t matter if our writing is ugly, as long as people can read it!"

What kind of twisted logic was that?

The Eldest said gently, "Exactly. Progress is what matters. Your handwriting will get better and better in time."

The Fourth glanced over. "If you hadn’t said that’s ’Lin Xiaobao,’ I would have thought you were just drawing trees."

The Second burst out laughing. "You know, it kind of does!"

Xiaobao pouted and huffed but didn’t seem to mind. It was a fact that her handwriting was terrible; even her deskmate at school teased her about it.
