My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 623: Wrap Party
Because Lin Feng took such good care of her, Xiaobao was in great spirits, and the filming progressed very smoothly. In less than a week, they had completed all of the scheduled filming. They even finished two days ahead of schedule, giving the entire crew two extra days to relax and have fun. Recalling their previous days spent sweating in a stuffy, cramped studio, this new life of filming while traveling was simply wonderful.
A solo trip to a place like this would cost at least five thousand yuan, and that was assuming a diet of instant noodles and stays in cheap guesthouses. To have a truly good time, it would be easy to spend twenty or thirty thousand. So, in a way, this trip had indirectly saved them all that money.
Occasionally, Lin Feng would even prepare a lavish seafood feast for them. After eating, they were left wanting more, wishing Lin Feng could cook for them every day.
The four older siblings took Xiaobao diving. Since Xiaobao was only three, she couldn’t go to the deep-water area and could only play in the children’s section. This area had artificially planted coral reefs teeming with all sorts of cute fish, and the scenery was by no means inferior to the deep-water zones.
Xiaobao was very brave. She showed no fear at all on her first dive and had a wonderful time! Liu Qing had a flash of inspiration and followed her to film some scenes of Xiaobao playing alone, which could be added to the plot.
The yacht was docked in Yangcheng, which was perfect for the trip home. After Lin Feng acquired his private plane, the yacht had been turned over to the two brothers, Lin Dashan and Lin Daan. Whenever they had free time, they would leisurely sail it from the coast to Modu, mainly to fish, living an incredibly relaxing life. Now, having reached an age where they felt at peace with their fate, they had few lingering attachments. If they had any regrets, it was only that their elder sister and Lin Dahu had passed away too soon.
The filming on the yacht was completed in just two days, and by the end of August, the entire production had officially wrapped.
The wrap party was held in Yangcheng. Lin Feng hosted it at his own hotel and arranged rooms for everyone.
Liu Qing got drunk and was as happy as a child. He raised his glass and said loudly, "I have a feeling our movie is going to be a huge hit, do you believe me?"
Everyone’s enthusiasm was high as they shouted back.
"That’s right, we’re definitely going to be a huge success! This movie will sell like hotcakes!"
"Yeah, we’ll be overnight sensations and make a fortune!"
Hearing everyone’s boisterous responses, Liu Qing chuckled and turned to raise his glass to Lin Feng. Given Lin Feng’s current status, he naturally didn’t need to accommodate others; it was always others who had to accommodate him. Aside from drinking a little during New Year’s or at Zhang Yuxi’s school gatherings, he rarely touched alcohol. This time, however, he was swept up in everyone’s excitement and raised his glass to Liu Qing.
"Director Liu, I hope we can collaborate again in the future."
Liu Qing took a hearty drink and exclaimed, "Excellent! With that promise from Director Lin, it was all worth it!"
"Director Lin, this is all thanks to your investment and your precious daughter!" As he spoke, his eyes turned red, and he sat down, sobbing softly.
The assistant director teased him. "We showed this script to many investment firms. They were actually optimistic and thought it could be a hit. But... they couldn’t take the risk."
The big companies wouldn’t even see them. They only want big names, big investments, and big special effects. A niche film like theirs was rejected outright. Smaller companies didn’t dare take the risk either. They lacked the deep pockets of the major studios and couldn’t afford a flop.
Of course, there have been dark horse films that made a fortune. But there have also been heavily hyped films that flopped so badly they nearly bankrupted their companies. The industry is in a slump, and audience tastes are unpredictable. It’s hard to say what kind of movie will do well and what won’t. Often, the projects you have the most faith in end up being the biggest flops, while the ones you least expect soar to unbelievable success. For example, a small, thirty-million-yuan film released last year became a box office miracle, grossing five billion. Conversely, other small films released around the same time flopped into oblivion.
Liu Qing and his assistant director were confident in their subject matter. They believed that as long as it was filmed, it would perform well. But their inability to secure an investor left them truly disheartened.
Lin Feng arrived like a savior in their time of need.
Perhaps, in Lin Feng’s view, this investment was simply about creating a good environment for Xiaobao. But for Liu Qing and the others, it was a lifeline.
This veteran of the crew had been with Liu Qing for years. He knew the director was full of ambition but had no outlet to express it. He and the others were in the same boat, so how could their hearts not ache for him?
In the end, Liu Qing was carried back to his room, apparently so drunk that he was completely unconscious.
「Next, it was time for the children to go to school.」
The four older siblings left one by one the day after the wrap party. Lin Feng packed their things and took each of them to school. They probably wouldn’t be back until the New Year, so he insisted on packing all the winter supplies they could possibly carry. The children said it wasn’t necessary, but Lin Feng insisted. Xiaobao was exhausted from filming, so she rested at home for two days while Lin Feng took the four older siblings to their schools by himself.
Over at Dabao’s dorm, Lin Feng and the younger siblings helped move his things in, attracting a crowd of onlookers, most of whom were there to admire the beautiful sisters. It was no exaggeration that Er Bao and San Bao were constantly being asked for their contact information. Not to humblebrag, but it was a real headache for them.
As soon as Lin Feng and the younger siblings left, someone came over to ask Dabao.
"My god, did you move your entire home here? Those shipping fees mustn’t have been cheap, right?" He had everything down to the smallest items, like multiple toothbrushes, socks, bars of soap... It was unbelievable.
Dabao said nonchalantly, "We have our own private plane, so there are no shipping fees."
The crowd fell silent.
Damn, so I’m the clown after all!
They knew perfectly well that the "private plane" Dabao mentioned wasn’t some small private jet like the ones their families might own.
Just how big must that plane be to carry so many things?
San Bao, who lived alone in a large room, brought the most things. Her refrigerator was stuffed to the brim with food.
This was their parents’ love for them. They didn’t find it troublesome at all, only touching. From childhood to adulthood, Lin Feng had given them all his love. He meticulously took care of every detail they could possibly think of. In their eyes, Lin Feng was the embodiment of the perfect father!
After getting all four children settled, Lin Feng returned home. It took him half the day just to recover.
「Life gradually returned to its usual rhythm.」
The only difference was that their movie, ’My Home’, was scheduled for official release during the upcoming long holiday. Promotions would begin in mid-September. Using Lin Feng’s villa and yacht had saved the production a huge amount of money. This money was now being funneled into promotions, all in the hope of achieving strong box office results during the holiday season.
The four older siblings had already given a heads-up that they wouldn’t be able to return for the holiday due to their schoolwork. The family was somewhat regretful, but it had to be this way.
