My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 609 Big White and Fatty
Xiao Bao was taller than her peers. Standing among other children, she could always be spotted at a glance. Not to mention, as a parent, Lin Feng was intimately familiar with his own child’s appearance. In the bustling crowd of children, he spotted Xiao Bao in no time.
He had expected to see her looking small and helpless. To his complete surprise, the little one was happily eating snacks from her teacher and playing joyfully with the other children.
Honestly, my feelings are a bit complicated, Lin Feng thought.
As if connected by their father-daughter bond, Xiao Bao seemed to sense something and looked toward the window where he was standing. Lin Feng quickly ducked out of sight. I wonder if she saw me, he thought.
Kindergarteners napped at school during the day. Classes started at 8:40 AM and ended at 4:40 PM.
When Lin Feng got back home and saw the empty house, he felt a little odd. He went to check on Fei Fei and Da Bai and found their food barely touched. They were listlessly huddled together.
Lin Feng squatted down and gently stroked their heads. "Shall we go to the vet?"
Fei Fei and Da Bai mustered a bit of energy. Fei Fei let out a soft meow, while Da Bai nudged his large head closer, wagging his tail.
He took them to the vet for a check-up.
"They’re actually quite normal. They’re just very old—equivalent to being over ninety in human years," the vet explained. "Considering their age, you’ve taken great care of them. Other pets this old would be riddled with illnesses, but yours are doing fine."
Lin Feng returned home with some nutritional paste. Since the midday sun was nice, he carried them outside to bask in it, even bringing their favorite toys to keep them company.
In the afternoon, Lin Feng called the teacher to ask how Xiao Bao was doing. He was mainly concerned about whether she was eating properly.
"Xiao Bao is very well-behaved, but she’s not very interested in the food," the teacher said. "She says she only likes what her daddy makes. She wouldn’t eat at first, but after seeing the other children eat, she had a little, though not much."
Lin Feng quickly suggested, "In that case, Teacher, would this be alright? I could prepare Xiao Bao’s lunch, and you could just heat it up for her. Would that be okay?"
The teacher offered, "Let’s see how it goes. If Xiao Bao is really that picky about her food, then that would be fine."
In the afternoon, it was time to pick Xiao Bao up from school. The nursery class was dismissed first. Parents held up their pickup cards, and for each card the teacher collected, she would call out a child’s name.
Xiao Bao and a little girl her age were chatting at the window, their faces beaming with happy smiles. When she saw Lin Feng in the pickup line, her smile gradually faded. Soon, big, fat tears began to roll down her cheeks, her face a mask of misery.
Lin Feng smiled and waved at Xiao Bao, signaling that it would be their turn soon.
The school was filled with cries at drop-off, and it was the same at pickup time. Aside from a few exceptions, most of the children were wailing.
Xiao Bao couldn’t wait to fly into Lin Feng’s arms, where she immediately burst into aggrieved tears.
"Why are you crying? Daddy’s here to pick you up, isn’t he?"
Xiao Bao clung tightly to Lin Feng, pouring out all her grievances. "Daddy, the food here is so yucky. I only like what Daddy makes."
"The bed here is so small, I rolled right off it... WAAAH..."
Lin Feng supported Xiao Bao’s bottom, patting her soothingly as he walked toward the parking lot.
"Daddy, Xiao Bao isn’t coming tomorrow!"
Lin Feng placed her in the child safety seat and carefully fastened the straps. "That’s not an option, sweetie. You have to go every day except Saturday and Sunday."
Hearing this, Xiao Bao began to throw a tantrum. "No, no! I don’t want to go!"
Lin Feng changed the subject. "Daddy took Fei Fei and Da Bai to the pet hospital today. Do you want to know what the doctor said?"
Xiao Bao’s temper could truly be flipped on and off like a switch. She immediately asked, "What did the doctor say?"
"The doctor said Fei Fei and Da Bai are very, very old, and we need to take good care of them. He even prescribed some nutritional supplements for them."
"Then, Daddy, let Xiao Bao stay home from school and take care of Fei Fei and Da Bai."
Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. And we’re right back where we started, he thought.
"No need, Dad’s here for that. You be a good girl and go to school!"
As they were speaking, the little girl who’d been chatting with Xiao Bao at the window came out and greeted them.
"Xiao Bao, let’s play together again tomorrow!"
Xiao Bao pouted. "I don’t want to go to school tomorrow!"
The little girl’s eyes were red, likely from crying earlier. "I don’t want to go to school either..." She turned to her parent and whined, "Mom, I don’t want to go to school..."
The parent looked helpless. Oh, my little handful, I just got you calmed down!
Lin Feng, ever the experienced father, quickly jumped in. "The teacher told all us parents that we have to bring our kids to school tomorrow. And guess what? You can bring your favorite toy to school and trade with your friends! How about that?" he said, turning to the other girl. "Our Xiao Bao has lots of interesting toys. Wouldn’t you like to see?"
The girl sniffled and asked, "Do you have Barbie dolls?"
Xiao Bao’s interest was piqued. "I have lots of Barbie dolls! A super-duper lot!"
The little girl wiped her tears. "Then can we trade Barbies and play tomorrow?"
Xiao Bao thought about it and grudgingly accepted. "Alright!"
Only then did the little girl happily follow her parent away.
Lin Feng started the car. "Xiao Bao, which Barbie doll are you going to bring tomorrow? Should we dress her up?"
Xiao Bao lifted her chin. "Of course! My Barbie dolls are the prettiest."
Xiao Bao’s Barbie dolls were all from high-end brands, some costing tens of thousands each, and they were both beautiful and incredibly realistic. They were all gifts from her older brothers and sisters, as well as other relatives. In fact, most of Xiao Bao’s toys were gifts from them, so Lin Feng rarely had to spend any money on them.
Once home, Xiao Bao scampered off to find her Barbie dolls, while Lin Feng went to cook dinner. When Zhang Yuxi got home from work, she didn’t see Xiao Bao and came to the kitchen to ask.
"Honey, did Xiao Bao make a fuss today?"
Lin Feng gave her a brief rundown of the day’s events, which put Zhang Yuxi’s mind at ease. "I imagine she’ll get used to it in a few days."
By dinnertime, Xiao Bao was still busy with her Barbie doll. "Daddy, look! Isn’t she pretty? I put a new dress on her!"
Lin Feng nodded. "Very pretty. After we eat, let’s give her a beautiful new hairstyle, okay?"
"Okay!"
After dinner, Zhang Yuxi washed the dishes while Lin Feng and Xiao Bao were in the living room, busying themselves with the Barbie doll. A group video call came in from her siblings.
"Xiao Bao, were you a good girl on your first day of school? Did you throw any tantrums?" Big Brother asked tenderly. His background looked like a laboratory, filled with equipment and devices.
Before Xiao Bao could answer, Second Sister said with a grin, "Our Xiao Bao is always so well-behaved, she definitely wouldn’t throw a tantrum, right?"
Second Sister had a very cheerful personality, and her demeanor was markedly different from the past. That’s right—among the four of them, she was now the wealthiest!
Xiao Bao cocked her head. "That’s right! Xiao Bao would never throw a tantrum. Xiao Bao is the best behaved."
Behind her, Lin Feng pursed his lips, silently disagreeing.
Third Sister smiled at the camera, her presence cool and elegant, like a noble princess. Her voice was, as always, incredibly gentle. "Xiao Bao, if anyone bullies you, you hit them back, okay? Your big brothers and sisters have your back!"
Fourth Brother was his usual self, grinning from ear to ear. "Right! If anyone dares to bully you, we’ll hit them back! Hey, isn’t it about time you started Taekwondo?"
Xiao Bao immediately refused. "I don’t want to learn Taekwondo! With my big brothers and sisters around, no one would dare bully me!"
Fourth Brother asked with a beaming smile, "So, did you make any new friends on your first day?"
Xiao Bao nodded and held up her Barbie doll. "I did! We promised to trade Barbies and play tomorrow..."
Lin Feng stood up. "You all chat."
Twenty minutes later, Xiao Bao trotted over and handed him the phone. "Big brothers and sisters want to talk to Mom and Dad! Here, I need to go find more clothes for my Barbie doll!"
Lin Feng took the phone, and Zhang Yuxi sat down beside him. Aside from Fourth Brother, who was relatively close, the other three were thousands of miles away, but every one of them was deeply concerned. They exchanged careful instructions for about ten more minutes before ending the call.
Zhang Yuxi stood up. "I’ll go give Xiao Bao a bath."
