My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 604 Sweet-Talking Little Treasure
As a man with God-level Culinary Skills, Lin Feng greatly valued his family’s three daily meals. This was especially true for the children, for whom he was always creating a variety of dishes, studying recipes whenever he had free time.
Now that the older children had gone abroad to study one after another, and with Xiao Bao being such a lively and energetic little girl, Lin Feng worried she wasn’t getting enough nutrition. Since she was also a picky eater, he put extra care into his cooking.
Lin Feng discussed Xiao Bao’s staple foods with the other parent and shared a few recipes. Not only could these meals boost a child’s immunity, but they also aided in growth. The parent recorded his advice on their phone and thanked him profusely.
"My child has been having growing pains lately," the parent said. "Either their knees or feet hurt, and they’re always fretful at night after any significant physical activity. We’ve been to the hospital, taken calcium supplements, and had their trace elements checked, but nothing seems to help."
Lin Feng shared a few more recipes with him. "This should work for your child!"
Seeing that Lin Feng spoke with such authority and was so enthusiastic and eager to help, the parent quickly asked to exchange contact information, and they scanned each other’s codes. "If my child has any problems down the road, I’ll come to you for advice."
Lin Feng had no objections; it was hardly any trouble for him.
The two children were playing with building blocks. Xiao Bao was not only taller than the other child, but her intelligence also clearly surpassed her peers. The other parent sat nearby and took the initiative to chat with Lin Feng about children. When they learned that Xiao Bao had four older siblings, they were shocked. Upon finding out they were all in university, the parent’s eyes widened, and "shocked" no longer began to cover their reaction.
"How old are you?"
"Just over forty."
"No way! You look twenty-five or twenty-six at most."
Lin Feng smiled. After undergoing the Purification and Marrow Cleansing twice, his appearance hadn’t changed at all over the years. Even Zhang Yuxi, after taking the medicine, showed no signs of aging.
After playing for a while, Xiao Bao lost interest in the blocks and ran off to play with something else.
"We’ll get in touch by phone then," the other parent said.
"Sure."
Once Xiao Bao tired herself out, Lin Feng took her to get some congee and steamed buns. Xiao Bao didn’t feel like moving and activated her "Charming and Pitiful" skill, leaving Lin Feng resigned to wait on her.
"Daddy is the best! Xiao Bao loves you the most!"
Lin Feng’s face was a mixture of doting affection and helplessness. "You, you just know how to say sweet things."
Xiao Bao’s legs dangled happily as Lin Feng catered to her. "Daddy, I want this one."
"Okay."
After eating their fill, the father and daughter went to the supermarket. The first floor was lined with gold and jade jewelry stores, where employees stood at the entrances handing out balloons and flyers. The competition among the several stores was fierce, and they all had staff outside trying to attract customers.
"Daddy, I want a balloon!" Xiao Bao’s voice was not quiet.
A sales assistant from the store furthest away came dashing over and handed a balloon to Xiao Bao. "Here you go, little one!"
Xiao Bao was overjoyed as she accepted it. "Thank you, fairy sister!"
The sales assistant beamed, thrilled by the compliment. "Do you want another one? I can give you one more."
"Yes, yes!" Xiao Bao certainly wouldn’t mind having more.
The sales assistant handed a brochure to Lin Feng. "Sir, our store is having a promotion. Would you like to take a look and see if there’s anything you need?"
Lin Feng took it. The sales associate was very fond of Xiao Bao. Who wouldn’t adore such a cute and pretty little darling?
Xiao Bao spotted a little rabbit balloon and stared at it longingly. With her family, Xiao Bao would simply ask for whatever she wanted. But in front of strangers, she would hesitate like this...
The sales associate hurriedly gave her the rabbit balloon. "Little one, I can’t give you any more after this. These have to be given out to other people."
Xiao Bao nodded sensibly. "Okay! Thank you, fairy sister!"
Since they’re being so kind to my daughter, I should do something in return, Lin Feng thought. It’s been a long time since I bought Zhang Yuxi any jewelry anyway. Why not go inside and see if there’s anything suitable?
The employee welcomed Lin Feng into the store. "Sir, what would you like to see? We have ladies’ rings, earrings, necklaces, and so on. We also have items for gentlemen."
"I’ll just browse."
Generally, people who say they’re just browsing don’t end up buying anything. The employee’s lip twitched slightly, a flash of disappointment crossing her eyes. "Alright, just call me if you need anything."
Lin Feng nodded. The employee set Xiao Bao down on the customer sofa.
The employees in the store all helped one another to boost their sales performance. The manager pulled the first employee aside, her tone tinged with rebuke. "What are you doing, babysitting here? Aren’t you supposed to be attending to customers?"
"He said he’s just browsing, and I couldn’t just ignore the child."
"I’ll watch her. You go make a sale."
"Alright then!"
In fact, another employee had already approached Lin Feng to pitch the store’s jewelry. Usually, two staff members would team up for a sale to increase the chances of success. But after a brief exchange, this other employee came back and said, "He said he’s just looking." Then she added, "Aside from being handsome, I doubt he has much money. He’s probably just window-shopping." Lin Feng’s clothes were very plain, and aside from his good looks and refined demeanor, nothing about him screamed wealthy.
The first employee walked back over and asked with a smile, "Are you buying this for your wife?"
Lin Feng nodded, his expression somewhat disappointed. "Do you have anything better than these?"
He’d bought Zhang Yuxi so much jewelry over the years, and his second child was even a designer. To be honest, this store’s selection was really so-so; nothing caught his eye.
The employee was taken aback. "We have so many items in our store, and you’re not satisfied with any of them?"
Lin Feng shook his head.
"Sir, please wait a moment," the employee said. "I’ll go get the manager."
Meanwhile, the manager was having so much fun with Xiao Bao that she had forgotten everything else. The little girl was just that adorable; it only took a few minutes for her to completely win the manager over.
"He wants to see more?" the manager asked, glancing at Lin Feng. "Alright, I’ll get the items from the safe."
The first employee took Xiao Bao from the manager’s arms. Xiao Bao pointed at Lin Feng. "I want my Daddy!"
The employee carried her over. Lin Feng took Xiao Bao in his arms. "What’s this?"
In her small hand, Xiao Bao clutched two fruit candies. "Auntie gave them to me. Daddy, you eat!" Xiao Bao didn’t like candy because she was afraid of getting cavities and having to go to the dentist. That previous experience had probably left an indelible impression on her.
Lin Feng took them. "Thank you, darling!"
Just then, the manager came out with an exquisite jewelry box. She discreetly signaled to the other employees, motioning for them to come over and keep a close watch. This was merchandise worth several million. There could be no slip-ups.
The manager opened the box, revealing a collection of high-end jewelry.
Lin Feng was something of an expert himself. He looked them over carefully before selecting a pair of blue sapphire earrings. In the world of corundum gemstones, all colors other than red are classified as sapphires. The style was simple and elegant. The gems themselves weren’t large, giving the earrings a delicate and graceful look that would be perfect for Zhang Yuxi.
Next, Lin Feng took a liking to a beautifully crafted white swan brooch. These days, Zhang Yuxi kept most of her jewelry in a case, predominantly wearing earrings, hair clips, necklaces, rings, and brooches. Her style was understated, the colors subdued—elegant without sacrificing a sense of luxury. After all, she was now a university president in her forties. Her status, position, and even her state of mind had all changed, and she was no longer the person she used to be.
Xiao Bao was already used to seeing fine jewelry. She would casually play with any pieces Zhang Yuxi left out of her jewelry box. Her older siblings gave her all kinds of jewelry, always gifting her the most precious pieces they could find. Once the novelty wore off, Zhang Yuxi would eventually put the items away, and Xiao Bao would completely forget about them.
