Nowadays, if Lin Feng extended an invitation, no one would refuse; they all held him in high regard. ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐.๐๐จ๐
For Xiao Bao, a birthday meant lots of fun new toys, new clothes, and delicious food, which made her overjoyed. The birthday party was held outside the small castle. It was boisterous and lively, with a buffet catered by a hotelโs head chef.
Zhou Cuilan tried to pick up Xiao Bao but found she was too heavy to lift, so she squatted down instead.
"Xiao Bao, Grandma wishes you a happy birthday! This is Grandmaโs present for you. Do you like it?"
The gift Zhou Cuilan gave to Xiao Bao was a 1.5-meter-tall khaki teddy bear. The girl stumbled back several steps as she hugged it.
"I love it! I love it so much!"
Apart from that, someone else gifted a golden lock, wishing the child a long and healthy life. There were gifts of amusement park tickets, clothes, and all sorts of other things. They were all presentable gifts. Even if Xiao Bao couldnโt use them now, she could later on.
Near the end of the birthday feast, the absent Da Bao and San Bao arrived, looking weary and dusty from their travels.
"Big Brother, Third Sister..."
Xiao Bao dropped her toys and ran toward them.
San Bao hugged her tightly, her tone both indulgent and reproachful. "Run slower, be careful not to fall!"
Seeing Xiao Bao rush toward her without a care, San Baoโs face lit up with indescribable joy.
Xiao Bao giggled. At two years old, she was still chubby and utterly adorable.
Da Bao leaned in and asked, "Have you forgotten about Big Brother?"
Ever the diplomat, Xiao Bao quickly said, "No, no! Xiao Bao missed Big Brother, and of course, Third Sister too!"
She hurriedly asked Da Bao for a hug and gave him a kiss. Her eyes darted around as if searching for something.
Da Bao pulled a toy from his backpack. "Here, for our little princess!"
He had made it himselfโa perpetual orb that would spin continuously in mid-air. The orb shimmered like a sparkling gemstone. What girl could refuse such a shiny object? Xiao Bao adored it and couldnโt put it down, repeatedly exclaiming how cool it was.
San Baoโs gift was a valuable melodica, crafted by a master. Xiao Bao didnโt understand its worth; she just knew it made sounds when she blew into it, and she loved it to pieces.
Xiao Bao loved every single gift, her words as sweet as honey.
Lin Feng came over. "It must have been a long trip for you two. Next time you come back, give us a heads-up."
Da Bao laughed. "If we give a heads-up, it wonโt be a surprise!"
Zhang Yuxi called out, "Come on, itโs time to cut the cake! Letโs do it together."
With her parentsโ help, Xiao Bao made the first cut.
Amid the festive atmosphere, Lin Feng pulled his two children who were studying overseas aside and inquired about their life abroad. If Da Bao wasnโt comfortable living with roommates, he could move out and rent his own place. Without their parents nearby, Lin Feng hoped his children would have everything go smoothly and live comfortably.
Both children said they were doing quite well; their living conditions were great, as they werenโt short of money. The only difficulty was the food, which they still hadnโt gotten used to. This was Lin Fengโs biggest worry. He feared that not being able to acclimate would be detrimental to their health.
Da Bao had matured considerably, and his speech and mannerisms now carried a certain flair. "Iโm alright. Itโs been a while, so Iโm somewhat used to it now."
As for San Bao, she often traveled to New York, so she was fine with the food there. She lived in a single room with access to a communal kitchen. She used it the most, making porridge, boiling noodles, and even steaming rice for stir-fried dishes.
"Dad, donโt worry about us," San Bao said with a smile. "Weโre doing just fine. I cook for myself and occasionally eat out."
Lin Feng cared for all four of his children equally, but if he were to show favoritism, he would give a little extra care to San Bao. After all, she was a girl who hadnโt been very healthy as a child. On top of that, she was sensible and sweet. Who wouldnโt love her?
Lin Feng had prepared kitchen utensils for each child, hoping they would put in the effort to cook for themselves. As a last resort, heโd simply hire someone to go over and cook for them.
Lin Feng saw that his children were doing well. Aside from looking a bit tired, they hadnโt lost any weight. He repeatedly urged them to eat well and sleep well. That was his only concern.
Da Bao said softly, "Dad, weโre all grown-ups now. We know how to take care of ourselves."
"Itโs you whoโs had it tough, looking after us for so many years and managing this home!"
Lin Feng felt very gratified upon hearing this and waved his hand. "Iโm not tired. Seeing you all grow up to be successful makes me happy!"
"When are you leaving?"
"Weโre leaving tomorrow afternoon!"
"Alright, Iโll go make you some jerky and dried fruit that will keep well."
With that, he headed for the kitchen to get busy, and no one could stop him.
Zhang Yuxi laughed. "Let him be. Heโd already started preparing things to mail to you, and then you coincidentally showed up yourselves!"
Da Bao and San Bao looked over to see Lin Feng tying on an apron, humming a tune cheerfully as he busied himself. After sending them off to school this time, Lin Feng had already begun preparing dried goods. He had already made a large batch, just waiting for an opportunity to get it to them.
Lin Feng, engrossed in his work, completely forgot to attend to his guests. Before he knew it, evening had arrived. To send things to his children, he had even bought a vacuum sealer to pack chicken, duck, cured meat, and other items.
"Honey, take a break," Zhang Yuxi said.
Lin Feng shook his head. "The kids are leaving tomorrow afternoon. I still have so much to get ready..."
Zhang Yuxi paused. "Maybe you can continue later. Itโs nighttime now, and the kids need to eat."
Lin Feng slapped his forehead. "Itโs night already? Alright, what do the kids want to eat?"
They say thereโs no place like home. Lying in their own familiar beds, the children were filled with emotion.
Lin Feng prepared a sumptuous dinner. The children dug in, their faces plastered with satisfaction as they ate.
"Iโll take you back tomorrow," Lin Feng said. "Itโs more comfortable on our private plane!"
This statement was met with opposition from Da Bao and San Bao.
"Itโs mainly because I have a lot of things to bring you this time..." Lin Feng explained.
"Then just check it in as luggage!" Da Bao said.
They didnโt want to put Lin Feng through the trouble. Although flying back and forth on their own plane was comfortable, it was also exhausting.
"Weโre not children anymore, Dad. We can take care of ourselves! You just stay home and rest. Weโll call you once weโve arrived."
Lin Feng nodded, his expression somewhat helpless.
