My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 161
Vivienne’s POV
I hung up the phone and returned to my seat.
Sophie noticed my mood was off and casually asked, "Who was that on the phone?"
"A friend," I said, biting my lower lip.
"Hmph, I know how many friends you have. That friend of yours isn’t that jerk Alexander, is it?"
I fell silent for a moment.
Seeing that I didn’t respond, Sophie scoffed, "Why would he be calling you? To bother you? Vivienne, don’t go soft on him and forgive him!"
"I won’t," I said firmly. "It was his friend calling. He’s been drinking and asked me to talk to him. He got hurt trying to save me—I can’t just ignore it."
Ariana chimed in, "I believe Vivienne wouldn’t be so foolish, but she needs some time to move on."
Two hours later, the three of us arrived in Tromsø.
After leaving the airport, we took a bus to the hotel.
Looking out the bus window, I noticed there was still a layer of snow on both sides of the road.
Sophie had booked a hotel called Aurora Krio.
"I saw in the travel guide that this hotel is right by the dock, with an amazing view. And there’s an outdoor hot tub on the top floor—we can experience the feeling of fire and ice!" Sophie said, excited.
Spending time in an outdoor hot tub in Norway’s winter was definitely going to be an unforgettable experience.
After checking in, we quickly unpacked, rested for a bit, and then headed to the hotel restaurant for dinner.
The restaurant overlooked the dock, offering both delicious food and breathtaking views.
I had just sat down with my tray in front of Sophie when I heard someone call my name, "Sis?"
I looked up and saw Nathaniel walking toward us, his face lighting up with surprise.
I nodded and smiled at him.
Sophie gave me a knowing glance and grinned, "Wow, what are the odds? You’re staying here too?"
"Yeah," Nathaniel said, standing beside our table with a grin that revealed two sharp little fangs, giving off a cheerful, sunny vibe. "But unfortunately, we leave tomorrow. Are you just arriving?"
"Yes. Have you seen the Aurora?"
"We have!"
With that, Nathaniel pulled out his phone, swiped through some pictures, and laid them out on the table. "Look, these are all photos I took. My photography skills aren’t great, but the Aurora is so beautiful!"
We all leaned in to take a look at the photos.
The sky was a deep blue, dotted with stars, and a brilliant green Aurora arced across it.
Sophie gasped, "You’re too modest! These are stunning!"
Nathaniel scratched his head awkwardly. "Aurora is just so beautiful, even someone like me with no photography skills can take pictures like these."
After hearing that, I felt even more excited to see the Aurora for myself.
"So, what are you doing after dinner?" Sophie asked.
"We’re going skiing! Want to join us?" Nathaniel’s eyes lit up as he looked at me, then Sophie.
Sophie looked at me teasingly, "How about we go skiing too? We can wait for the Aurora later, and we still have a few days left."
Ariana also looked at me. "What do you think, Vivienne?"
Nathaniel smiled and looked at me expectantly.
I glanced up and saw all three of them waiting eagerly. After thinking for a moment, I nodded. "Okay, let’s go skiing."
I had only seen skiing in videos, but I was really eager to give it a try.
Nathaniel grinned widely, showing his bright, neat teeth, and his little fangs looked incredibly cute. "Great! I’ll go tell my friends. We’ll all go together!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
With that, he excitedly left.
Watching him go, Sophie gave me a sly smile and said, "Looks like we really are fated to meet like this."
I just smiled and didn’t say anything.
I understood what Sophie meant, but I really didn’t have any feelings for Nathaniel.
After dinner, we quickly returned to our rooms to rest and then met Nathaniel and his friends in the hotel lobby before heading to the ski resort.
Alexander’s POV
The Crescent Estates.
I slowly opened my eyes, my head throbbing painfully from the hangover.
I shut them again, unable to bear the sensation, rubbing my temples in an attempt to ease the pain.
There was a soft, rhythmic buzzing sound in my ears.
Once the pain in my head subsided a little, I opened my eyes again, holding Ziggy, who was sound asleep, and stared blankly at the ceiling.
I had dreamt that Vivienne called me, concerned about how I was.
A bitter feeling flashed across my heart.
It was only in my dreams that she would care about me like that.
Only in my dreams could I ease the pain of missing her.
I missed her terribly.
My longing for her grew wildly in my chest. Every time I closed my eyes, her face filled my mind.
It was only with the help of alcohol that I could numb my brain and fall into a peaceful sleep.
The ringing of my phone pulled me out of my thoughts.
I picked it up from the nightstand and saw that it was Jane calling. I swiped to answer.
“Hello?”
My voice was hoarse, betraying the fact that I had just woken up.
“CEO Hawthorne, we’ve got some news.”
I sat up straight in bed, the sudden movement waking Ziggy, and immediately asked, “What is it?”
“According to Mrs. Hawthorne’s classmates, Vivienne arrived at school in mid-September that year. She attended the first semester, but during the second semester, she only showed up for the first two months. After that, she took a long-term medical leave and didn’t appear again until the semester was almost over. When she returned, she had lost quite a bit of weight, looking like she had just recovered from a serious illness.”
I fell silent, my lips pressed tightly together. I gripped the phone tighter, my hand trembling.
I was finding it harder and harder to make excuses for Vivienne, to argue that it was just a misdiagnosis by the doctors.
A storm raged inside me, a sudden downpour. The beast, which had been suppressed in the corner, suddenly went wild, desperately trying to break free from its cage.
I clenched my teeth, my other hand gripping the blanket so tightly it creased. I had to fight the urge to throw my phone across the room.
“Who is the man?”
Even through the phone, Jane could hear the bite in my voice.
“Well... we’ve asked nearly all of Vivienne’s classmates, and they say she never had a boyfriend, but there were indeed people who pursued her. There are currently two suspects. One is the president of the local film association, and the other is a classmate of Vivienne’s.”
“Go on.”
“These two were the closest among Mrs. Hawthorne’s suitors. The president of the association helped Vivienne a lot when she first arrived. In fact, he’s the one who introduced her to the apartment where she lived. The classmate didn’t confess his feelings initially. Instead, he got close to her under the pretense of wanting to understand world cultures. It was only later that he confessed, but Vivienne distanced herself from him after that.”
“So, the first one is the most suspicious?”
“Not necessarily. You should hear the rest. Our people also went to Vivienne’s rented apartment to ask around, and they found out she moved out during the second semester. After she moved out, the president of the association went to the apartment to look for her, which means she didn’t tell him when she left. So... we can only say that both of them are suspicious. As for where Vivienne moved after that, we couldn’t find out. It’s as if someone has deliberately erased all traces.”
