My Beloved Super Fierce Wife-Chapter 165 Ate a friend’s friend
Chapter 165: 165 Ate a friend’s friend
Lin Tang saw the atmosphere had become silent and changed the subject.
"Second Brother, Third Brother, How did the spraying go in your fields? No problems with the crops, right?"
Lin Qingmu, having heard his little sister praise his crafty second brother, immediately refused to be outdone.
He squeezed Lin Qingshui off the bench with his butt.
He then started to energetically explain to Lin Tang.
"The pesticide you mixed is really effective, it doesn’t smell bad and isn’t harsh on the nose either, and the locust eggs dropped like rain.
I noticed it’s not just the locust eggs; other pests were also killed by the pesticide and turned into fertilizer.
Sister, you’re truly amazing!"
Previously, pesticides either stank to high heaven or were so pungent they gave you a headache.
The one you made is effective, and it doesn’t smell strong, making the chore of spraying feel like a breeze."
Lin Tang pursed her lips with a smile, "As long as it’s useful."
Having said that, she went to help in the kitchen.
Upon entering, there erupted a cloud of smoke and flames.
Mingled with a tantalizing fragrance.
Li Xiuli was frying meat.
The meat slices, neither too big nor too small, just with a pinch of salt, would tantalize the taste buds to death.
"Why did you come in here? Dinner will take a bit longer, help yourself to some fruit if you’re hungry," Li Xiuli said with a smile upon seeing Lin Tang come in.
Lin Tang sat on a small stool, taking on the role of a fire-tending girl.
"I came to help. Plus, I can learn some cooking, so I can make home-cooked meals myself when in town."
In fact, she knew how to cook.
But this "know" was only in the theoretical sense.
She could boil noodles, stir-fry vegetables until they were cooked, the taste... not so much to be desired... It was about like that.
Li Xiuli, hearing that her daughter wanted to learn how to cook, felt a mix of heartache and reassurance.
Her emotions were quite complex.
Yet, considering that Tangtang would have to be independent, working alone in town, she had to suppress her reluctance.
"If you want to learn, then learn. Mom will teach you."
She then carefully began to explain the techniques of cooking.
Word by word, wishing she could break it down further to teach her daughter.
After the food was ready, Lin Qingshan returned with the four little ones.
Smelling the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen, Goudan and the other kids were ecstatic.
Upon entering, they saw.
Their little aunt was tasting something from a small bowl.
The four kids rushed over quickly.
"Little Aunt, Little Aunt, what are you eating? We want some too."
"Little Aunt, let me have a taste please~"
"Little Aunt is the best, give me a piece!"
Lin Tang, with her legs hugged by them and listening to the soft cooing voices of her nieces and nephews, had her heart melt into a puddle.
"No washing hands, no snack for anyone," she teased the little ones.
The four kids eagerly stretched out their hands for Lin Tang to inspect.
"We washed~"
They said, stretching their hands out to Lin Tang for examination.
Their pale little faces, their clear eyes.
All four were as adorable as little animals, melting one’s heart.
Lin Tang teased them for a bit, then gave each one a piece.
"Try this, it’s pork scratchings, really tasty."
Goudan and the other kids with their little white hands took pieces.
They nibbled a tiny bite first.
"!!!!"
Their eyes lit up bright.
Such delicious food – how could it exist?
Seeing their reaction, Lin Tang lifted her chin.
"Tasty, isn’t it?"
The four kids lined up, nodding their heads consistently.
"Tasty."
"So tasty."
"Delicious~"
The four little ones chimed in, each one speaking in turn.
Lin Tang took the bowl and approached the other members of the Lin Family.
"Dad, try this."
"Big Brother, take a piece and see if it tastes like what we had when we were young."
"You should have some too, Second Brother."
...
After making her rounds, the people of the Lin Family had all been looked after.
She had just about finished handing out the last of the pork scratchings in the bowl.
A jubilant shout came from the kitchen.
"Dinner’s ready..."
Soon, a group of people sat around the table in the courtyard.
Lin Qingshan looked at the meat in the center of the table, puzzled.
"Is this rabbit meat?"
Lin Lu laughed, his face creasing into a smile, "It’s a rabbit, your sister stumbled upon it at the foot of the mountain."
He never doubted his daughter’s luck.
Lin Qingshan looked towards Lin Tang and met the little girl’s proud face.
He moved his mouth but hadn’t yet spoken.
Goudan’s jaw almost dropped in shock.
"A rabbit?" the child’s voice rose slightly.
It was full of disbelief.
"Eat, eat the rabbit?" he stammered.
Looking at everyone with eyes wide with horror, as if they were executioners.
How could they eat rabbits when they’re so cute?
Lin Tang raised her brows slightly.
She picked up a piece and ate it with satisfaction.
"So delicious!" she exclaimed.
True to her mother’s cooking skills.
Rabbits are so cute, whether they’re braised or steamed, they’re delicious.
Xiuli, seeing her daughter enjoy the meal, served her another piece with her chopsticks.
"Eat more if you like it, once the few little rabbits at home grow bigger, we can slaughter the big ones."
Hmm, by the time her daughter comes back next time, they should be ready to eat.
Goudan’s face turned pale.
Mom is going to kill Da Bai?
Da Bai was the name he had given to that big white rabbit.
"Mom, Da Bai is my good friend, can we not kill him?"
If it had been slaughtered soon after being brought home, that would have been that.
But, after being raised for so long.
All the rabbits at home were cared for by Goudan along with his brothers and sisters, with time and patience invested, of course he was reluctant to part with them.
Xiuli didn’t understand the children’s feelings, thinking her eldest grandson was just making a fuss.
"How can we not kill them, are we supposed to just keep raising them?
We’ll slaughter the young ones once they grow a bit bigger and eat them.
Why aren’t you eating? Come on, eat, or the food will get cold."
No sooner had she finished speaking, she gave Goudan a piece of rabbit meat with her chopsticks.
Goudan, with iron in his bones, wanted to say he would rather die than eat rabbit meat.
Yet, the aroma from the rabbit meat in his bowl was so enticing.
He, he was kind of tempted to eat it.
Slurp, it smelled so good!
Lin Tang knew about her nephew’s inner conflict and half-jokingly said, "Goudan, do you not like eating it?"
"If you don’t, we can give it to Choudan; it seems he really enjoys it," she added.
Then looking at Choudan, "Right, Choudan?"
The Lin Family’s adults and children could all handle spicy food.
Considering that eating spicy isn’t good for health, Xiuli didn’t add too much chili.
Just enough to mask the gamey flavor of the rabbit.
Choudan, hearing himself mentioned, paused for a moment.
He turned his head to look at his little auntie and nodded.
"Mhm, Choudan likes it."
Goudan, seeing his younger siblings relishing their food, felt a sourness in his heart.
It was the bitterness of feeling betrayed.
On one hand, his heart was genuinely aching.
On the other, the rabbit meat was tantalizing him.
Goudan, noticing that everyone was eating happily and no one was paying attention to him,
tentatively and guiltily took a bite of the rabbit meat.
"?!" It’s this delicious?
The little guy instantly tossed his vow not to eat rabbit to the back of his mind.
This rabbit wasn’t Da Bai after all.
Having a few bites shouldn’t be a betrayal of his friendship with Da Bai, right?
He had only a moment to think before the delicious taste of the rabbit meat overwhelmed his senses.
Grr, truly delicious.
Lin Tang saw her nephew’s conflicted face and her eyes twinkled with amusement.
Nobody can escape the deliciousness.
Eating meat is a joy momentary, but eating it always is a joy forever.
However, for Goudan,
it was delightful while eating, but after finishing, his heart was filled with regret.
He had eaten a friend of his good friend.
Sniff, sniff...
Looking at the bones on the table, Goudan felt an unusual sense of shame.
Taking advantage of the adults being busy,
he gathered up the rabbit bones from the table.
Wrapped them in leaves.
And buried them in a corner of the courtyard.
It was the only thing he could do for his rabbit friend.
Here’s hoping the little rabbit can be reincarnated as a human in its next life; that way, it won’t be eaten.
