My Beloved Super Fierce Wife-Chapter 119: Is there no food left at home in number ?
Chapter 119: Is there no food left at home in number 119?
"It’s just something I threw together. Is there something you needed, Grandma Jiang?" Lin Tang changed the subject.
The items in the room, including the bedside table, the hot water kettle, the wallpaper, and the tablecloth... all came from the System Space.
She did not want to mention it further.
It was only with Lin Tang’s reminder that Grandma Jiang remembered her business.
"Your Uncle Jiang came to pick up me and your Grandpa Jiang to head to the Provincial City, we have train tickets for tomorrow morning, I came to tell you," she said.
Lin Tang heard that male voice when she came back from work.
She had guessed they would be leaving soon.
So, she was not surprised at all.
She smiled and said, "That’s great news. The family will be reunited, and Grandma Jiang’s wish has finally come true.
I wish you and Grandpa Jiang a smooth journey in advance!"
Grandma Jiang’s face lit up with a smile when she thought of the grandchildren in the Provincial City.
"...Thank you for your kind words."
After a few words, the old lady left.
Lin Tang locked the door and sat back down on the bed, but she couldn’t focus on the book above her head anymore.
She couldn’t help but start to think about the renovation of that room.
The room had a traditional Kang bed, and the overall layout could not be changed.
A wardrobe could be added, as well as a table to be placed on the Kang.
A shoe cabinet could be placed at the doorway.
The floor was fairly even, so a dining table for eating and storing items could be set, along with a few small stools.
There was plenty of space on the other side; another large wooden cabinet could be added.
The cabinet could hold quilts, clothes, or anything else.
You could also place other items on top of the cabinet to save space.
As she mused, Lin Tang fell asleep without noticing.
She even forgot to pull the light string off.
-
The next morning, before seven o’clock.
Rustling noises came from the courtyard.
The Jiang Family had started moving their belongings.
Lin Tang woke up at the sound.
She had just dressed and combed her hair.
Grandma Jiang knocked on her door.
"Tangtang, Tangtang, are you up? Your parents are here to see you," she called.
Upon hearing this, Lin Tang sprang up from her chair.
She quickly walked toward the door.
Click, she opened the door.
"My parents are here?" The young girl’s face was filled with surprise, her eyes sparkling with uncontrollable joy.
Before Grandma Jiang could reply, Li Xiuli and Lin Lu came over.
Li Xiuli: "...Tangtang."
Lin Lu: "...Daughter."
The couple looked at Lin Tang excitedly, as if they hadn’t seen her for years.
They looked her up and down several times.
Seeing their daughter was doing well, hadn’t lost weight, and didn’t seem mistreated, they breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Tang, seeing her parents’ excited faces and sparkling eyes, asked, "Dad, Mom, what brings you here?"
Li Xiuli, seeing her daughter looking respectable, just as she had hoped for all these years, beamed with pride.
"Your father and I came to see how you’re doing and to bring you some food and grains," she said.
It was only after saying this that she remembered they had forgotten to invite Grandma Jiang, who had greeted them, inside.
Li Xiuli quickly said, "Auntie Jiang, sorry for keeping you, you must be about to leave. My husband and I have taken up your time."
They didn’t want to spoil the impression the landlord had of Tangtang.
Grandma Jiang came to her senses, smacked her forehead, and said, "Right, right, I should get going."
Her old man and son were waiting.
"All right then, I won’t keep you any longer.
You three have a good chat, we’ll be on our way.
Tangtang, I leave the courtyard in your care," she said with a final reluctant glance at the courtyard where she had lived for over a decade.
After that, she waved her hand hurriedly at Lin Tang’s family and quickly left.
After the Jiang Family left, Lin Tang led her parents back into the house.
Xiuli was stunned the moment she entered the room.
Pretty wallpaper, a floral tablecloth, closets, a desk...
The arrangement of this house was exactly how she had wanted to set up a room for her daughter.
However, the Lin Family’s means were limited, and Tangtang’s room in the village couldn’t compare to the one before her eyes.
"Tangtang, you’ve done a really nice job tidying up your room," Xiuli said, unable to hide her joy.
This is exactly how a young girl’s room should be.
Lin Lu knew what his wife was thinking and, patting her arm, looked at Lin Tang with heartfelt pity.
The family’s circumstances had indeed been hard on their daughter.
Lin Tang didn’t understand the riddles her parents were speaking in. She pulled out chairs for them to sit, then busied herself with pouring water.
"Dad, Mom, when did you arrive?"
There was only an Enamel Jar in the room, from which she took out a large porcelain bowl, mixed some powdered milk, and handed it to her parents.
Seeing this, Xiuli felt a warmth mixed with pang of distress.
Aiyo, without paying attention, the girl has started making powdered milk.
They would have been fine just drinking water!
"We haven’t been here long, stop bustling about and sit down so I can have a good look at you," Xiuli said.
Actually, they had come early in the morning.
But fearing they would disturb their daughter’s rest, they had waited outside the door for almost half an hour.
She didn’t mention this.
Xiuli took the Enamel Jar from Lin Lu and, pulling Lin Tang, sat down on the bed with her.
Lin Tang wasn’t entirely convinced that her parents had just arrived, but she didn’t say anything.
"I’m fine, how is everything at home? Is there no more food? I feel like Dad and Mom have gotten thinner," she said, her brows furrowed with concern.
If it weren’t for the difficulty of explaining, Lin Tang would have wanted to take out the food from the System Space right away.
But she had just started her job, and it would be difficult to justify bringing things out so soon.
She would wait a little longer...
Eventually, she would bring it home along with the holiday gifts from the factory.
Xiuli gently rubbed Tangtang’s wrinkled little face and smiled, "Lose weight? Not at all, we’re just fine.
In a little while, it’ll be time to harvest the grain. Once the new grain comes in, Mom will steam some white flour steamed buns and bring them to you."
Lin Tang liked eating white flour steamed buns made with new grain. Every year after the grain division, the family would steam a few. freewёbnoνel.com
Lin Tang calculated the time in her mind.
The grain wouldn’t be harvested until the end of next month.
Are they already looking forward to the new grain?
It seemed the family indeed didn’t have much grain left.
Fortunately, the holidays were approaching, and she would be able to take some grain home then.
Lin Tang felt a bit relieved and looked at her mother, "Okay, thank you, Mom."
Xiuli smiled affectionately, "Thank me for what, silly girl?"
"Oh, and I’ve brought you some grain and pickled vegetables.
Your dad also found someone to trade for some honey—you like that, right? You can make honey water when you’re free."
As she spoke, Lin Lu took out the things they had brought.
Seeing the cleanliness of his daughter’s table, he didn’t put the bags directly on it.
Instead, he took out each item, cleaned them, and then placed them on the table.
"Tangtang, this is the honey. You like to add honey to lemon, right? Dad got some for you.
And this flour and vegetables; you can make noodles when you’re hungry—it smells so good!" Lin Lu said as he organized the items.
Lin Tang stood up from the edge of the bed and made her dad sit on the chair.
"Dad, don’t busy yourself, I’ll take care of it."
She then handed over the mixed powdered milk that was on the table to her parents.
"...Drink the powdered milk while it’s still hot," she suggested.
Xiuli felt gratified inside, but pretended to scold, "You keep it for yourself to drink, your dad and I are old, drinking this would be a waste."
Seeing his daughter’s filial piety, Lin Lu felt extremely pleased.
He took a sip and smacked his lips.
"It’s really sweet, sweet to the taste and the heart!"
Lin Tang didn’t like her mother saying it would be a waste for them to drink it, and she felt better hearing her father’s words.
She linked arms with her mother, her voice filled with tender reproach.
"I don’t like what Mom just said."
