My Baby Daddy Isn't Human-Chapter 203: Interesting Night
Raelynn stirred beneath the plush blankets, her body sinking deeper into the warmth of the bed before she slowly blinked her eyes open. For a moment, she simply lay there, her gaze fixed on the ceiling, her mind still tangled in the lingering traces of her dream.
A good dream.
She smiled.
It wasn’t often that she woke up feeling this light, this content. A sense of warmth lingered deep in her chest, as if remnants of the dream still wrapped around her like a comforting embrace.
But it wasn’t entirely good.
Raelynn’s smile faltered for a split second as the last moments of the dream tried to resurface. Something about it had shifted toward the end—something she didn’t quite like.
Why dwell on that part? The rest of it had been good.
She shifted onto her side, her hand unconsciously reaching for her belly. A soft chuckle left her lips as she whispered, "Well, at least you behaved last night."
Her fingers gently traced over the slight curve of her stomach, a tender motion filled with quiet affection.
More than that, the dream itself had felt so real.
She still remembered the way Elion had stood there, holding that child. The blurred figure of the child lingered in her mind, just out of reach, yet there was something undeniably familiar about them.
Her lips parted slightly, but before she could dwell too much on the details, a soft knock echoed from the door.
Raelynn turned her head toward the sound, momentarily caught off guard.
A familiar deep voice followed, smooth yet gentle.
"Raelynn?"
Her heart fluttered.
She pushed herself up, smoothing her hair back as she called, "Come in."
The door opened, and Elion stepped inside, his presence immediately filling the space.
He looked as composed as ever, dressed in a dark buttoned-up shirt with the sleeves pushed up to his forearms, the fabric snug against his tall, broad frame. His hair was slightly tousled, as if he had just run his fingers through it moments ago.
A subtle crease formed between his brows, but it wasn’t one of worry—it was quiet observation, a habit of his she had come to recognize.
"You’re awake," he said, closing the door behind him.
Raelynn stretched her arms above her head, her movements slow and languid. "Mmm, good morning to you too." She gave him a teasing smile before patting the space beside her. "Come sit."
Elion hesitated for a moment before finally moving toward her. The bed dipped slightly as he took a seat at the edge, his eyes never leaving her face.
"I came to check on you," he said. "How do you feel?"
Raelynn tilted her head, giving him a playful look. "Well, good news. Your child behaved last night." She placed a hand on her belly again, rubbing it gently. "No pain. I actually got a good night’s sleep."
Elion’s expression softened just a fraction, the smallest ghost of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"Is that so?" he mused. "Should I take that as a sign of good things to come?"
Raelynn laughed. "I’d like to think so."
Raelynn tilted her head slightly, watching Elion’s face as a thought flickered through her mind.
It was almost like their child’s way of saying, Sorry for making you go through all that pain, but don’t worry—everything’s going to be okay now.
A quiet giggle slipped past her lips at the thought. It was silly, really, but the idea warmed her in a way she couldn’t quite explain.
A beat of silence passed between them, comfortable yet expectant.
Then, Elion leaned forward slightly, his elbows resting on his knees. "You said you slept well," he murmured, eyes sharp yet curious. "Did you dream?"
Raelynn’s face lit up, excitement dancing in her features.
"Oh! Yes!" She shifted, tucking her legs beneath her. "It was actually a really good dream. It felt so real, almost like a vision."
Elion raised a brow, interested now. "Tell me."
She didn’t need to be asked twice.
Raelynn launched into her story, her hands moving expressively as she spoke. She described the dream in vivid detail—the golden-hued landscape, the smooth glass-like ground, the strange yet beautiful sky that stretched endlessly.
Elion listened intently, his crimson eyes locked onto her as she animatedly explained everything.
"I was alone at first," she continued, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "But then I saw you."
Elion didn’t react immediately, but she caught the way his fingers flexed slightly against his knee.
She smiled, leaning closer. "You were standing there, holding a child."
This time, his eyes narrowed slightly.
"A child?" he repeated.
Raelynn nodded, her expression thoughtful. "I couldn’t see their face. No matter how hard I tried, it was like… the dream wouldn’t let me. But I could feel them. They were there, real, right in your arms."
Elion remained silent, watching her closely.
She exhaled a small laugh. "And you were so serious. You didn’t say anything at first, just held them close like you were protecting them." She placed a hand over her chest, tilting her head. "It was strange. I don’t know why, but it felt… peaceful. Like I was meant to see it."
Elion finally spoke, his voice lower than before. "And then?"
Raelynn hesitated, trying to recall the details. "Everything sort of… changed. The sky cracked, and the dream started falling apart."
"It seems you had an interesting night."
Raelynn grinned. "I’d say so. It wasn’t a bad dream, though. Actually, I think it was a sign."
Elion tilted his head slightly. "A sign of what?"
Raelynn gave him a knowing smile. "That everything will be fine."
For a brief second, his expression softened completely.
He reached out, brushing his fingers lightly against her cheek before trailing them down to her hand. His touch was gentle yet grounding, firm yet comforting.
"Do you really feel okay now?" he asked, quieter this time.
Raelynn squeezed his hand, nodding. "I really do."
A beat passed.
Then, Elion pulled back slightly, his sharp gaze returning to its usual composure.
"Good," he said, standing up smoothly.
Raelynn blinked. "Huh? That’s it?"
Elion smirked. "No." He straightened his sleeves before glancing back at her.
"We’re leaving for Zake today."
