Chapter 88: Chapter 88: All the Charming Boys Have Received Little Love Letters

It was only then that Stella Sterling understood the secrets hidden within the small vest.

The small vest was standard issue for the Qillian staff, complete with a built-in communication device and a miniature camera.

It was an entertainment venue, after all. There were bound to be some hotheads engaging in shady dealings.

But Julian Chandler was a model citizen. Not only did he run a legitimate business, but he was also exceptionally cooperative with the police.

Sometimes, when it was difficult for the police to gather evidence, the small vests came into play.

If anyone asked, the club was a public place. As the operator, was it really so unreasonable to have a few walking cameras?

Upon hearing this, Felix Hollis understood. Everything he had done had probably been recorded.

His face turned ashen. He opened his mouth, but he had no idea how to defend himself.

Just then, Owen Rhodes dealt the final blow. "Mr. Hollis, you’ve got some nerve, demanding my wife drink with you. Are you happy now?"

Felix Hollis’s mouth hung slightly open, his eyes darting back and forth between Owen Rhodes and Stella Sterling.

It took him a long moment to process what Owen Rhodes had said.

His legs gave out, and he collapsed into a strange kneeling position on the marble tabletop. He looked at Owen Rhodes, his own face a greasy mess.

"President Rhodes, I didn’t know! I didn’t know Stella Sterling was your wife! I was wrong, it’s all my fault. Please, forgive me."

Owen Rhodes picked up the cup of hot water in front of Stella Sterling and took a sip. Seeing it was no longer scalding, he pressed the cup into her hand. "Drink some warm water."

Stella Sterling stared blankly at the spot on the rim where Owen Rhodes had just taken a sip. After a moment, she obediently held the cup and drank.

"Have you forgotten what my wife just said?"

Felix Hollis couldn’t recall, but Julian Chandler remembered perfectly.

He casually picked up an empty glass, filled it to the brim, and handed it to Felix. "Drink up. You love to drink, don’t you? Drink your fill tonight. Let’s call it a toast to your very last drink at Qillian."

With Julian Chandler keeping an eye on Felix Hollis, Owen Rhodes didn’t spare him another thought.

He turned to Chase Sterling, who was sitting to his left. "It’s understandable that Felix Hollis didn’t know Stella was married. But Young President Sterling, what’s your excuse?"

’The anger was finally directed at him.’

Chase Sterling frowned, attempting to explain. "The Sterlings and the Hollises did have a falling out over the engagement party. It’s also because Stella didn’t handle things tactfully enough that day that it got this bad. Besides, I’m here. I wouldn’t have let things get too out of hand."

"And what, in your opinion, would qualify as ’too out of hand,’ Young President Sterling? When Stella is actually being taken advantage of?"

At this, Owen Rhodes’s voice was so cold it could have formed ice crystals.

’How could Chase be so stupid?’ Owen Rhodes didn’t want to waste another word on him.

"But President Rhodes, Stella is fine now, isn’t she?" Chase Sterling’s expression darkened. "Stella is my sister. I wouldn’t let anything actually happen to her. If she hadn’t been so stubborn and just had a drink, this whole thing would have been resolved by now."

"Chase," this was the first time Owen Rhodes had addressed him so directly, "Your father started this mess, and you’re trying to sacrifice your sister to clean it up? Have you no shame? You can’t even solve a problem this simple. Are you brainless?"

Owen Rhodes rarely swore at people so directly. He wouldn’t have said such things if he weren’t absolutely furious.

Chase Sterling’s face flushed crimson. Just as he was about to speak, Owen Rhodes cut in. "That Innovire project—I’ll make this crystal clear. If you want it, you’d better do everything in your power to please Stella. The moment she gives the nod, the project is yours."

’This just proves how stupid Chase is.’

’He’s been involved with this project for so long, yet he still has no idea that I’m the one behind the Innovire Group. He knows full well that Stella is my wife, yet he still sells out his own family. He’s a lost cause.’

’Why didn’t Gavin Sterling tell Chase to go through Stella to appease Felix Hollis from the start?’

’Because Gavin Sterling knew that after offending the Hollis Family, he couldn’t afford to offend me as well.’

’But good old Chase? He managed to offend everyone.’

Owen Rhodes had no desire to continue talking to an idiot. He turned to Stella. "Ready to go home?"

Stella saw the tense line of his jaw and set down her half-empty water glass.

"Yes, let’s go home. Don’t be angry."

Owen Rhodes took her hand, stood up, and gave her fingers a gentle squeeze. "I’m not angry at you. Let’s go."

Ignoring the scene unfolding in the private room, Owen Rhodes led Stella straight out.

Once the two of them had left, Zoe Yates finally dared to gasp for air.

Owen Rhodes’s presence had been so oppressive that she hadn’t even dared to breathe.

Once she’d recovered, she grabbed Kiana Sterling’s arm. "Kiana, I didn’t mishear, did I? Owen Rhodes married Stella?"

Kiana Sterling clenched her fists, her gaze fixed on the doorway, filled with venomous jealousy. "Yes."

"Holy crap, how is that possible? Does Owen Rhodes know about Stella and Ethan Rhodes? Why would he marry her? Don’t tell me Stella seduced him just to get back at you and Ethan!"

Kiana Sterling shot her a vicious glare, and Zoe Yates immediately clapped a hand over her mouth. "No, I mean—there was nothing between Stella and Ethan. I misspoke, don’t be mad..."

Only when Kiana’s gaze shifted away did Zoe Yates clutch at her chest in relief.

’Kiana’s stare is getting more and more terrifying...’

’But still, that’s Owen Rhodes we’re talking about!’

’Why should someone like Stella get so lucky!’

Over on the other side, it was unclear whether Felix Hollis had actually fainted or was just pretending. Julian Chandler clapped his hands, stood up, and said to Chase Sterling with a smile, "Young President Sterling, shall we settle the bill?"

...

While the Qillian Club was in an uproar, Leo Quinn brought a fruit basket to the hospital to visit Ethan Rhodes.

Leo Quinn had been busy all day and only just found time to visit him that evening.

When he entered the hospital room, Ethan Rhodes was staring into space.

"What’s on your mind?"

Ethan Rhodes glanced at him and, as if on a whim, asked, "Leo, how much do you know about my past?"

Leo Quinn wasn’t sure if he was recovering his memories or something else, so he didn’t know how to respond. He simply asked, "What do you want to know?"

"Stella mentioned before that when we were dating, we exchanged letters for a long time. Did you know about that?"

"Of course I do." Leo Quinn smiled at the memory. "It was because I told you all the charming guys were getting love letters. Didn’t you turn right around and ask Stella to write to you? Why are you asking about this all of a sudden? Are you remembering things?"
