Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Ugly People Stir Up Trouble

Julian Chandler looked at Ariana Grant, his smile the picture of innocence. "Thank you."

In the end, Julian Chandler didn’t order this, that, and the other, but only what he actually wanted to drink.

The four male models present rarely got a chance to slack off on the clock like this, getting a front-row seat to a fascinating showdown between two foxes—and one of those foxes was their own boss.

Jokes aside, Ariana Grant raised her glass, took a sip, and asked Julian Chandler, "You didn’t actually come here just to drink with me, did you?"

Julian Chandler picked up a dice cup and toyed with it. "Good heavens, lady. It’s one thing for you to come out and play by yourself, but to bring my sister-in-law, and on top of that..."

He glanced at the "Four Great Talents" and waved them away. "You lot, scram."

The four men immediately rose, gave Ariana Grant a polite nod, and then left the private room.

"If Owen finds out, he’ll skin me alive."

It was only then that Ariana Grant suddenly realized, "Stella’s been gone for a while."

"Where did she go? The restroom?"

Ariana Grant stood. "Yeah, I’ll go take a look."

Julian Chandler thought for a moment, then got up as well. "I’ll go with you."

Ariana Grant checked every stall in the restroom. When she came out, her expression was grim. "Stella’s not in there."

Julian Chandler wore an ’I knew this would happen’ expression as he ran a hand through his spiky hair. "I’ll have my people search for her."

While Julian Chandler sent his men to check the security footage, he and Ariana Grant began searching for Stella, checking one private room after another.

「In a private room.」

After some consideration, Chase Sterling finally spoke. "Stella, come over here. Have a few drinks with Mr. Hollis. You were in the wrong the other day. Just apologize to Mr. Hollis, and we can put this all behind us, alright?"

Chase Sterling’s tone was actually quite mild today, mainly because he now knew Stella had married Owen Rhodes.

On one side was Owen Rhodes; on the other was Gavin Sterling’s order and the Hollis family. He couldn’t afford to offend either party.

’Besides,’ he thought, ’thinking back to the engagement party, Stella really did handle it badly. It was something that could’ve been resolved peacefully, but she kicked up such a fuss that everyone was left in an awkward position. It’s only right for her to have a couple of drinks to make amends.’

’A married daughter is like water thrown out the door, but since she started all this trouble, she should be the one to face the consequences.’

’As for Owen Rhodes’ side of things... it’s just two drinks. I’ll be right here watching. Nothing can happen.’

Stella was surrounded by wolves. She took a long, deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

She pushed herself up from where Felix Hollis had shoved her onto the sofa, sat up straight, and smoothed her hair before speaking. "I’m sorry, but my husband doesn’t allow me to drink when I’m out." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Felix Hollis laughed at her words. "What kind of bullshit is that! Stella, you think I’m that easy to fool? If you don’t drink, what are you doing in a place like this? Trying to act all high and mighty with me now, are you?"

Felix Hollis walked over and sat down beside Chase Sterling. "Chase, you handle this. The future relationship between our families depends on your sister’s performance tonight. I’ve said my piece."

Chase Sterling heard him, but his gaze remained fixed on Stella.

’Stella is so damn unreasonable,’ he fumed internally. ’Our relationship with the Hollis family is in shambles because of her. My hand is broken because of her. As her brother, I’m not even holding the fracture against her, just asking her to have a couple of drinks for the sake of our family. Does she really need to act so holier-than-thou?’

Chase Sterling’s expression darkened. "Stella, listen to me!"

Zoe Yates, who had been invited out by Kiana Sterling, was sitting right beside Chase Sterling.

She turned her head to look at him, and the mere sight of his profile made her heart flutter.

She glanced at Chase Sterling’s casted hand, then at the elegant and poised Stella across from them, and a dark glint flashed in her eyes.

Zoe Yates picked up two glasses of wine, rose, and walked over to Stella.

"Oh, honestly, Chase, Mr. Hollis. You can’t talk to a girl like that. You have to know how to be a gentleman, don’t you?"

She sat down beside Stella, glasses in hand. "Hi, Stella. I’m Zoe Yates."

Zoe Yates smilingly offered her a glass, but Stella neither took it nor acknowledged her.

Zoe gritted her teeth, but her face remained fixed in a warm smile.

Since Stella wouldn’t take the glass, Zoe simply continued to hold it out to her.

Zoe Yates said, "Stella, your sister and I are good friends. I’m so sorry about what happened at the engagement party. I’d had too much to drink and accidentally bumped into you, which caused a misunderstanding and all that unpleasantness between you and Kiana. It’s all my fault. I want to apologize. Please, can you forgive me? It was a complete accident. I’ll drink first to show my sincerity."

Zoe then tilted her head back and downed the entire glass of wine.

She held the other glass out to Stella again. "Stella, please, will you forgive me? It’s okay if you don’t want to drink. Just a small sip to show you accept my apology is enough. We didn’t order anything else, so I’m afraid I have to trouble you with this. Is that alright?"

With that, Zoe Yates was subtly backing her into a corner again.

Stella didn’t want to drink, so Zoe had compromised by only asking for a sip.

Stella didn’t want to apologize, so Zoe had set an example for her, giving her a way to save face while doing so.

For the first time, Chase Sterling shot Zoe Yates an appreciative glance, though unfortunately, she didn’t see it.

Stella turned to look at Zoe Yates’ smiling face. But even with that smile, she couldn’t hide the challenge in her eyes.

’Just what I’d expect from one of Kiana’s good friends.’

Stella took the glass Zoe offered and placed it on the table in front of her.

"Miss Yates, I accept your apology. However, I will not be drinking, and I will not be apologizing to anyone else. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving. My friend is waiting for me."

Hearing this, Felix Hollis let out a soft chuckle and leaned back into the sofa. "Chase, your little sister is quite the firecracker. I like that about her."

By saying this, Felix Hollis was making it clear he had no intention of letting Stella off the hook.

Chase also thought Stella was being incredibly ungrateful. ’They’ve already paved her a way out, and she’s still acting so proud and refusing to take it.’

"Stella, you can throw whatever tantrum you want when you get home. Right now, you will come over here and apologize to Mr. Hollis!"

Stella let out a laugh of pure exasperation.

She stared at the glass on the table for a long moment, then sighed softly, picked it up, and walked toward Felix Hollis.

Only then did Chase Sterling’s expression finally soften.

The tension in his heart had just begun to ease when a cold, alcohol-laced liquid suddenly splashed across his face.

Stella had stopped right in front of Chase Sterling, and with a flick of her wrist, she’d thrown the entire glass of wine in his face.

"Young President Sterling, I thought it was just your hand that was fractured, but it seems your brain is fractured, too. What do you mean, *I* was in the wrong? Was I the one who proposed a marriage alliance with the Hollis family? Did I not tell you all in advance that I was already married? You can’t even tell right from wrong. Chase Sterling, what’s the difference between you and a pig?"

Stella then glanced at Felix Hollis, a look of sudden understanding on her face. "Ah, that’s right. Birds of a feather flock together. A certain species has to find its own kind to play with, after all."

Felix Hollis, who’d had a bit too much to drink, was slow on the uptake. "Stella," he finally sputtered, "you dare call me a pig!"

Stella smiled. "Mr. Hollis, weren’t you just asking how I suddenly remembered you? It’s because your ugliness is just so unforgettable. You really shouldn’t go out in public, you know. You might scare someone."
