Chapter 62: Chapter 62: I Don’t Want to Experience Divorce Yet

Gavin Sterling nearly coughed up a mouthful of blood.

If he could turn back time by just one hour, he never would have said those arrogant words.

At this point, all he could do was play dumb. "What stock transfer agreement?"

Stella Sterling still looked completely harmless, using the most docile tone to say the words that would infuriate Gavin Sterling the most.

"President Sterling, what’s wrong? Is your memory failing in your old age? You were the one who just said it. If you went back on your word and didn’t want me to get a divorce anymore, you would give me all of your shares in the company."

She blinked her big, clear eyes, looking for all the world like a little girl asking a grown-up for candy.

Gavin Sterling’s face turned an even deeper shade of red as he suppressed his rage, a vein throbbing on his temple.

He fought to control his temper, grinding out through clenched teeth, "Stella, if you keep acting so unreasonable, Dad is really going to get angry."

Stella said innocently, "How am I being unreasonable?"

Stella acted confused. "But this is clearly what you said yourself, President Sterling."

Stella presented her evidence. "You might have forgotten, but that’s okay. I have a video here. Perhaps this will jog your memory?"

As she spoke, she pulled her phone out from behind her back, turned the screen toward Gavin Sterling, cranked the volume to maximum, and hit play.

Playing on the phone was, shockingly, the security footage from the moment Stella Sterling had stepped into the Sterling Villa.

The video played from the beginning, right up to the point where Joel Joyce had chased after Stella.

This time, Gavin Sterling’s face wasn’t red. It was white—deathly pale.

"You... Where did you get this video!"

Stella smiled like a fox. "Eh? Weren’t you the ones who installed the security cameras?"

As for the video’s origin, she had Gavin Sterling to thank for it.

From the moment Dr. Finch had come out and gravely delivered his so-called "medical diagnosis," Stella had guessed there must be cameras in the living room.

Otherwise, Dr. Finch wouldn’t have stated his conclusion right away.

’He must have been hiding somewhere, observing the situation the entire time.’

And the direction Dr. Finch had emerged from only had a storage room and the study.

Obviously, the receiver for the cameras was in the study.

After coming back in with Owen Rhodes, the first thing she did was look for the security footage.

Things were just as she had expected.

Moreover, to ensure Dr. Finch had a clear view, Gavin Sterling had not only installed high-definition cameras, but they also recorded audio. Now, all the pieces were in place.

That was why she had told Owen Rhodes they were "going in to settle the score."

Once the video played, everything Gavin Sterling tried to hide, everything Dr. Finch tried to evade, and everything Kiana Sterling tried to whitewash was exposed by the ironclad evidence, leaving them nowhere to run.

Stella put her phone away and said with a smile, "Remember now, President Sterling? You can go ahead and prepare the agreement. Let me know when it’s drafted, and I’ll come sign it."

Gavin Sterling fell silent. Everyone fell silent.

Stella’s smile turned a little cold. "President Sterling isn’t thinking of going back on his word, is he?"

She propped her elbow on the armrest of the sofa, resting her chin on the back of her hand, like a demon gleefully watching someone’s heart get torn out.

"I told you, if you were to go back on your word, it wouldn’t be settled with just a few simple words."

The living room fell into a silence so profound it was almost a vacuum.

After a long moment, Stella prompted him, "President Sterling, are you going to give me a straight answer?"

Gavin Sterling let out a long sigh. His gaze toward Stella held compromise, but even more so, resentment.

"This time, Dad acted on his own. I apologize. Giving you all the company shares is, of course, impossible. But if there’s anything else you want, as long as it isn’t too outrageous, Dad will do his best to grant it. How about that?"

Stella wasn’t actually interested in the company shares to begin with. She had done all this simply because she saw Gavin Sterling dig his own grave and decided to take the opportunity to get something out of it for herself.

She raised an eyebrow. "Fine."

The word had barely left her lips when Owen Rhodes, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly spoke up. "Does your earlier offer still stand, President Sterling?"

Gavin Sterling had taken too many blows that afternoon; his mind was reeling. When Owen spoke, he couldn’t process it right away.

"What offer?"

"The one where you’d agree to any condition if Stella and I divorced."

Gavin Sterling, already spooked by Stella, felt alarm bells ringing in his head.

But Owen had asked, and he couldn’t just say the offer was off the table. He could only ask cautiously, "What is it that President Rhodes wants?"

Owen, however, lowered his head at that moment to ask Stella, "Stella, those shares President Sterling holds, do you want them?"

Stella froze. "What?"

Owen was very direct, completely ignoring that everyone else was listening.

"If you want them, we’ll get a divorce. Once the shares are in hand, we’ll remarry. The shares will be yours."

Stella: "...?"

Gavin Sterling: "...???"

Madeline Jennings, Kiana Sterling, and Ethan Rhodes: "...!!!"

’Wait, is this for real?’

The living room was dead silent for a moment, the only sound being Owen’s explanation. "I don’t mean I want a divorce. It’s just that if you want those shares, while there are other ways, this is the fastest and most efficient method."

As he spoke, he lifted his eyes and shot a cold glance at Gavin Sterling. "This way is better, too. With the shares as your backing, no one will dare to mess with you so easily."

At that moment, Gavin Sterling just felt utterly exhausted.

All his scheming had been a complete waste of effort. He’d gained nothing and had now ended up on Owen Rhodes’s radar.

Thankfully, Stella had no interest in those shares.

She looked at Owen and shook her head. "I don’t want to experience divorce in my lifetime just yet."

Owen froze. He pressed his thin lips together, and as his gaze fell, Stella inexplicably felt he looked like a puppy that had done something wrong.

Owen suddenly grabbed her hand. "I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean I wanted a divorce. Can you please forget what I just said?"

His gaze was so earnest, the way his brows were knitted together made Stella nod instinctively. "Okay, forgotten."

Gavin Sterling and the other three: "..."

’Hey! Is anyone going to do something about them? There are other people here!’

Stella then turned back to Gavin Sterling and said, "President Sterling, I don’t want the shares. However, for my emotional distress today, that will be ten million. Please settle the bill. Also, I hope that an incident like being forcibly brought back here today never happens again. I’m not just talking about being brought back here; I mean anywhere. Do you agree?"

Could he possibly refuse?

After Owen had taken things that far, could he possibly refuse?

Gavin Sterling nodded in agreement.

Right there in front of the family, Owen turned and called Wyatt Keating. "Help me draft an agreement."

Gavin Sterling: "..."

Owen said, "It’s harder to deny something that’s in black and white."
