Now, whenever Henry Wright recalled how he had offended Kiana Sterling over this actress business, his temples started to throb.

The elevator stopped on the 27th floor. As Henry Wright walked into the studio, he saw Faye Rhodes—who normally watched the elevator doors like a meerkat, alert to every movement—staring intently at her computer, the very picture of a diligent employee.

’Not normal.’

’This was very not normal.’

Henry Wright walked through the office. Several staff members greeted him along the way, but Faye Rhodes was so absorbed she didn’t notice him at all.
