My Aloof Husband, Mr. Drexler, Dotes Me Excessively-Chapter 228: I Want to Hear...
Summer Shawcross was gazing up at the stars, reminiscing about her childhood at the Shawcross Family home, when she heard soft footsteps behind her and felt the swing suddenly start to move.
She was startled and turned her head to see Noah Drexler standing behind her, gently pushing the swing...
She froze, but in that instant, her eyes became slightly misty...
The man, who had shed the usual solemn black suit for a white shirt, appeared unusually gentle with his typically stoic face.
Also unusually... like someone.
Her dad.
When she was little, her dad would gently push her like this, telling her stories as he did.
Thinking back now, she realized she was truly happy then... 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Just as she was lost in thought looking at the man, a stern voice that somewhat broke the mood suddenly rang out.
"Sit properly if you don’t want to fall."
"..." Summer was a little embarrassed. As expected... this man had nothing to do with gentleness; what she felt before was just an illusion! Yes, an illusion!
Even so, she obediently sat properly on the swing.
"Noah Drexler, can you tell stories?" she couldn’t help but ask.
"No!" The man’s straightforward voice came from behind her.
As expected... she knew it was a pointless question.
"I want to hear one..."
However... for some reason, she suddenly really wanted to hear someone telling her a story now.
Because, it had been too long... too long since she had felt this feeling.
So, even though she knew Noah Drexler wouldn’t tell her one, she still couldn’t help but say it out loud.
Just when she gave a helpless smile, thinking he would refuse, the man’s disgruntled voice came from behind her.
"Troublesome!"
After a few seconds of silence, the man’s low voice slowly surfaced from behind her again.
"Once upon a time, there was a fool." The man glanced at the sky, then spoke with a straight face, though there was a touch of seriousness on it.
Summer Shawcross was taken aback, momentarily not reacting—was he... telling her a story?
Only, the beginning of the story was rather peculiar... in all the stories she had heard as a child, none started with a fool.
This piqued her curiosity about the story he was telling.
"And then?" she asked, unable to resist.
"He chased the sun." The man’s voice continued to ring out.
Uh... Hearing this, Summer’s face showed a puzzled expression, because the story sounded very familiar... it particularly resembled a well-known myth.
"And then, what happened to him?" she paused, continuing to ask.
She thought the story he was telling must be different from the one she had heard!
Just when she was full of expectation, thinking he would tell some exciting story...
"He died of thirst." The man’s incredibly calm voice continued.
"..." Summer froze, just feeling a rush of blood she wanted to spit out...
It was the first time she’d heard someone could tell a myth that was originally very moving in such a... lifeless manner.
Just when Summer thought Noah Drexler had been brushing her off, she turned her head to find the man looking at her with a serious expression.
Upon seeing her expression, the man’s swing-pushing action stopped, and his handsome face showed a hint of displeasure.
"Wasn’t it good?"
