My Aloof Husband, Mr. Drexler, Dotes Me Excessively-Chapter 183: Waiting Patiently for Her This Long
When Summer Shawcross came out of the hotel, it was already getting dark outside.
Sean Morgan and the others had taken Yvonne Duval to the police station to give a statement. Before leaving, they gave both her and Wendy Linden a room card for a five-star hotel in Lyra.
It was too late today, so they had to stay in Lyra for the night before heading back.
However, since it was still early, Summer Shawcross decided to stroll around.
Just as she was about to take a walk in the city square, Wendy Linden suddenly ran over to block her path, looking at her with admiration and pleading.
"Summer Shawcross, you’re so amazing. Can you take me as your apprentice?"
"What?" Summer Shawcross was momentarily stunned, not catching her meaning right away.
"I want to learn fortune telling too," Wendy Linden said with utmost determination and sincerity.
"Cough..." Summer Shawcross choked on her own breath, unable to help but cough.
It seemed Wendy Linden was thoroughly convinced of her fortune telling skills.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing her unusual expression, Wendy Linden couldn’t help but ask in confusion.
Summer Shawcross felt a bit embarrassed, looked at Wendy Linden helplessly, and had to pretend to be serious as she refused.
"Well... fortune telling requires innate talent. You’re too dull; forget about it."
Hearing this, Wendy Linden’s face was full of disappointment. After hesitating for a moment, she seriously said to her again, "I can be your assistant, for free. Just as long as you teach me a little bit."
Summer Shawcross did not expect Wendy Linden to be so persistent. Unable to think of a better excuse to refuse her, she had to glance at the bustling square in the distance.
"The square is so lively, and there’s a fountain. I’m going to get some fresh air..." Summer Shawcross said excitedly, and as soon as she finished speaking, she turned and jogged toward the square.
"Summer Shawcross, you haven’t agreed to my request yet!" Seeing her leave, Wendy Linden’s expression changed, and she quickly chased after her, "I’ll even pay you!"
...
In the center of Lyra, in the presidential suite on the top floor, the full view of the bustling city was captured through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The bathroom door opened, and a man, just finished showering and wrapped in a towel, walked out while drying his short hair.
Noah Drexler returned to the bed, picked up the phone from the bedside table, glanced at the time, and couldn’t help but frown.
It was already past nine, and Summer Shawcross still hadn’t returned.
His expression darkened as he immediately dialed Sean Morgan’s number.
"Boss." Sean Morgan’s voice came through the phone.
"Where’s Summer Shawcross?" He suppressed his irritation and asked in a low voice.
"Madam... went shopping..." Sean Morgan’s voice paused for a moment on the other end of the line and then helplessly said.
Hearing this, Noah Drexler’s face froze, his expression full of displeasure.
Shopping?
After finishing his work in Narsus City, he hurried over here, patiently waiting at the hotel for so long, only for her to leave him and go shopping?
...
The square was bustling at that moment.
The colorful lights of the fountain rose and fell with the music.
Several parents were playing with their children in the square, and some couples were quietly sitting on benches on the edge, talking about something.
Summer Shawcross arrived at the square, enjoying the cool breeze while watching the lively scene, and suddenly felt relaxed.
Just as she stood there staring blankly at the children playing in the square, Wendy Linden approached with a mysterious look and asked her in a low voice.
