My Alleged Husband-Chapter 48 - 47: Reconciliation_1
Xia Jing had just dropped Zhang Zhentian back at the Zhang Family home when Old Master Zhang, who had not yet retired for the night in his bedroom, heard the door close. He prepared to see if it was Zhang Zhentian returning. Just as he reached the bedroom door and before he could open it, he heard Zhang Zhentian say, "Xia Jing, I truly know I was wrong. Please don’t leave me."
Old Master Zhang thought that Zhang Zhentian was drunkenly talking in his sleep. Then he heard Xia Jing’s voice from outside the door, "Zhang Zhentian, let go."
Upon recognizing Xia Jing’s voice, Old Master Zhang knew that it was Xia Jing who had brought Zhang Zhentian back. He felt there was no need to go out and disturb their conversation, so he turned around to go to sleep.
Zhang Zhentian was limp and leaning on Xia Jing’s shoulder. Xia Jing pushed him, but Zhang Zhentian didn’t react at all and just continued to lean there. Xia Jing had no choice but to carry him back into his bedroom.
True to her mercenary background, Xia Jing was strong. She hoisted Zhang Zhentian onto her shoulder and turned to walk to his bedroom. Once inside, she unceremoniously dumped Zhang Zhentian off her back onto the bed.
"Ouch, that hurts so much!" Zhang Zhentian’s pained howl came from the bed.
Xia Jing was indifferent. She swiftly took off Zhang Zhentian’s shoes and pulled the blanket over him, ready to leave when Zhang Zhentian suddenly pulled her by the hand, and Xia Jing unexpectedly found herself lying on Zhang Zhentian’s chest.
Xia Jing was stunned. She lay there, motionless, as Zhang Zhentian delicately inhaled the fragrance from her hair. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and he held Xia Jing, hugging her tighter and tighter. Realizing what was happening, Xia Jing quickly pushed against Zhang Zhentian. He maintained a death grip, refusing to let go until she hit him, causing him to release his arms from around her.
"Zhang Zhentian, what, what are you doing? Since you’re already sober, I’ll be going now!" After saying this to Zhang Zhentian, Xia Jing hurriedly ran towards the door.
Xia Jing hadn’t reached the door when she heard Zhang Zhentian’s voice behind her, "Ow, why does my head hurt so much?"
Xia Jing turned and saw Zhang Zhentian with a feigned ignorance, saying to her, "Didn’t you leave? Why are you still here? If you really no longer care about whether I live or die, why are you standing there?"
Xia Jing knew very well that Zhang Zhentian was acting, and she understood that he was saying this on purpose. Still, she couldn’t help but want to rush over and embrace him. She silently admonished herself, "Xia Jing, Xia Jing, you cannot go over there. You cannot show weakness. After all he’s done to you, why are you still here watching his one-man show?"
Zhang Zhentian found it unbelievable that Xia Jing hadn’t rushed over to embrace him after all this time. He secretly wondered if Xia Jing knew he was acting or if she truly no longer cared about him at all?
The more Zhang Zhentian thought about it, the more it pained his heart, and he looked pitifully at Xia Jing. Eventually, Xia Jing couldn’t resist Zhang Zhentian’s feigned innocence, she sighed and slowly walked towards him.
"Enough, stop acting! Let’s sit down and talk," Xia Jing said, not hugging Zhang Zhentian, but instead taking a seat on the chair in front of the computer desk inside his bedroom.
Hearing this, Zhang Zhentian felt a bit embarrassed, not having anticipated that Xia Jing would see right through his act.
Zhang Zhentian sat on the bed, looking at Xia Jing.
"So tell me, Zhang Zhentian, what do you want?" Xia Jing asked abruptly, catching Zhang Zhentian off guard.
"Xia Jing, can... can you please not leave me?" Zhang Zhentian carefully voiced the question that had been weighing on his heart. He looked at Xia Jing, wanting to see her expression upon hearing his words.
"Oh? Zhang Zhentian, when did I ever say I wanted to leave you?" Xia Jing said nonchalantly to Zhang Zhentian. He felt a surge of happiness initially upon hearing her words, but Xia Jing’s subsequent remarks left him feeling utterly abashed.
"Zhang Zhentian, could it be that you truly have a special relationship with Li Jiayuan? Zhang Zhentian, you repeatedly say you love me, yet you take my words as if they are wind passing by your ear. Is this what you call love? If this is your love, then I’m sorry, I can’t afford such love!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
When Xia Jing spoke these words to Zhang Zhentian, he felt greatly wronged inside, but he didn’t know how to refute her, and he could only listen, toughing it out.
"Zhang Zhentian, I want to ask you, do you think my demands are too high, or what?"
"Not at all, I never thought your demands were too high!" Zhang Zhentian said nervously to Xia Jing. Every time Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing had an argument, he would feel that it was because Xia Jing’s demands were too high, causing their quarrels.
"Really now?" Xia Jing seemed to see through Zhang Zhentian’s nerves as she questioned him in return.
Zhang Zhentian was quite worried thinking, ’Xia Jing couldn’t have seen through what I’m thinking, could she? If Xia Jing found out that I indeed complained about her demands being too high, I wonder how angry she would get.’
"No!" Zhang Zhentian still flatly denied it.
"Heh heh heh..." Xia Jing looked up at the ceiling and let out a cold laugh. She said to Zhang Zhentian, "Zhang Zhentian, I can’t believe you still won’t tell the truth after I asked you like this. I’m giving you one more chance, I want to hear the truth, not your lies!"
Zhang Zhentian, looking into Xia Jing’s bloodshot eyes, knew he had angered her. He understood that only the truth could resolve things now, but he was also keenly aware that if he told the truth this time, Xia Jing would definitely fly into a rage for his having looked down on her demands as too high. Zhang Zhentian felt so troubled: telling the truth meant death, but lying was no less fatal. He truly didn’t know whether he should tell the truth or not.
Xia Jing seemed to have grown a pair of magical eyes that could see through everything. Seeing Zhang Zhentian hesitate so much made her feel annoyed. She slammed the table and with her eyes now blood-red, glanced at Zhang Zhentian before preparing to leave. Zhang Zhentian, seeing Xia Jing’s gesture, became desperate. Just as Xia Jing was about to walk out of the bedroom door, he rushed over and grabbed her.
Zhang Zhentian chose to speak the truth: "Xia Jing, I admit, when we fight, I truly feel that your demands are too high!"
"Zhang Zhentian, is it really that hard for you to tell me, Xia Jing, the truth? What can’t you honestly tell your girlfriend? Must you hide and make me guess?" Xia Jing shook off Zhang Zhentian’s hand.
Zhang Zhentian panicked, he pulled Xia Jing into his arms and kissed her fiercely. Xia Jing struggled in Zhang Zhentian’s embrace, but he wouldn’t let go at all. Zhang Zhentian just lost himself in kissing Xia Jing, and ultimately, Xia Jing was subdued by him!
Afterwards, Zhang Zhentian released Xia Jing, her face now flushed red. Seizing the moment, Zhang Zhentian said to her, "Xia Jing, can you forgive me? I swear, I will never lie to you again. Let’s be together forever, okay? Please never leave me in this life, okay?"
Xia Jing, blushing, responded to Zhang Zhentian with a soft "Mhm!"
Zhang Zhentian heaved a sigh of relief; he had finally reconciled with Xia Jing!
