My Alleged Husband-Chapter 32 Heading to the UK_1
Old Master Zhang watched as Zhang Zhentian left without turning his head, his heart ached with indescribable bitterness. He thought to himself, "It seems that to Zhentian, Xia Jing is still the most important. The ancients were really not wrong, indeed—after getting a wife, one forgets his father! Sigh, I just hope that this time, Zhentian can truly find Xia Jing and bring her back."
Gazing at the departing figure of Zhang Zhentian, Old Master Zhang couldn’t help but feel emotional. "This foolish son of mine, the UK is so vast, and even I wasn’t told by Xia Jing which region she would settle in. How could he possibly know where Xia Jing is? It’s been so long and Xia Jing hasn’t even made a phone call; I have no idea how she is doing in the UK."
While Old Master Zhang was still lamenting at home, Zhang Zhentian had already purchased his plane ticket, ready to embark on the "UK Quest to Find His Wife." He switched off his mobile phone, fully prepared for the trip. It wasn’t until he was seated on the plane that he suddenly remembered he seemed to have no idea where Xia Jing was in the UK. He took out his mobile phone to call his father, but just as he did so, a flight attendant approached him on the plane.
"Hello, sir, you are not allowed to use your mobile phone on the plane," the flight attendant gently informed Zhang Zhentian.
Zhang Zhentian, puzzled, asked, "Why can’t you use a mobile phone on the plane?"
"Because the plane flies at high altitudes following a set course, the entire flight process is under the control of ground air traffic controllers. In the high skies, the pilot navigates the plane while communicating with the ground using the plane’s communication and navigation equipment. The navigation devices on the plane use radio waves for navigation; upon receiving the electromagnetic waves continuously emitted by ground navigation stations, they can determine the plane’s precise location. If the plane deviates from its course, the autopilot will immediately correct the error automatically, ensuring normal flight. When a mobile phone operates, it emits electromagnetic waves that can interfere with the plane’s navigation equipment and control systems, causing the autopilot to receive incorrect information and make erroneous maneuvers, leading to dangerous situations that, in severe cases, can result in the plane crashing," the flight attendant explained to Zhang Zhentian.
Hearing the flight attendant’s explanation, Zhang Zhentian felt somewhat embarrassed. He had initially wanted to find an excuse to make a call, but now it would be awkward for him to continue trying. He felt ashamed, as there were so many people on the plane, and he was the only one asking the flight attendant why mobile phones couldn’t be used.
The plane had taken off, and Old Master Zhang was still at home, worried about why Xia Jing hadn’t called to check in; several days had passed. Just as Elder Zhang was muttering to himself, the phone suddenly rang, and Aunt Xu answered it.
"Hello, this is the Zhang Family. May I ask who you’re looking for?"
Hearing Aunt Xu’s voice on the other end of the line, the caller spoke up: "Aunt Xu, this is Xia Jing. Is my uncle at home?"
Upon recognizing Xia Jing’s voice, Aunt Xu hurriedly replied, "Yes, yes, of course, he’s at home. Old Master was just talking about how you haven’t called to check in, and here you are calling now. Just wait a moment, I’ll go get him for you."
Aunt Xu excitedly ran upstairs and gently knocked on the door of Elder Zhang’s study. Elder Zhang told Aunt Xu to come in, and upon hearing his approval, she quickly entered and said to Old Master Zhang, "Old Master, Xia Jing is on the phone for you."
"What?" Old Master Zhang replied with excitement bordering on euphoria, "I was just talking about her, and now she’s calling me. Aunt Xu, did you hang up?"
"No, not yet, Old Master. I told Xia Jing to wait while I came up to call you," Aunt Xu answered with a smile beaming across her face.
"Come on, what are we waiting for? Hurry up and go answer the phone," Old Master Zhang said, running downstairs to the living room like an excited child. He grabbed the phone and immediately asked, "Is that you, Xia Jing?"
"Yes, Uncle, it’s me. How have you been recently?" Xia Jing softly inquired.
"Good, I’ve been doing very well. You must take care of yourself while you’re away, and don’t worry about me. I’m waiting for you to come back and see me," Old Master Zhang said, his eyes twinkling with tears.
"Uncle, you must also take good care of yourself. After some time, I will come back to see you."
"Good, Uncle will wait for you to return!" Old Master Zhang said.
"Uncle, if there’s nothing else, I’m going to hang up now." Xia Jing said as she was about to hang up the phone, but Old Master Zhang suddenly called out to stop her.
"Wait a moment, Xia Jing, don’t you want to know about Zhentian’s situation?" Old Master Zhang tentatively asked.
Xia Jing fell silent. How could she possibly not want to know about Zhang Zhentian’s situation? She didn’t know how to ask or what to say, thinking it might be best to let things cool down before contacting each other again.
"Uncle, I don’t want to talk about Zhentian right now, and please keep this a secret for me, you must not tell him where I am."
Old Master Zhang felt a bit embarrassed hearing Xia Jing say this; he had already told Zhang Zhentian the whole story, and now Zhentian had already boarded a plane, heading to the UK. How was he supposed to tell Xia Jing?
Xia Jing, sensing that Old Master Zhang had not replied for a while, had an uneasy premonition. She gently asked, "Uncle, did you tell Zhentian where I am?"
Xia Jing was smart, guessing the truth instantly, which made it even harder for Old Master Zhang to speak up.
"Uncle, tell me, have you already told Zhang Zhentian about me being in the UK?" Xia Jing asked Elder Zhang again.
Old Master Zhang still kept his silence—silence is golden, as they say, but Xia Jing couldn’t contain herself any longer.
"Uncle, please talk, tell me whether you told Zhang Zhentian or not!" Xia Jing yelled into the phone.
"Yes, you guessed right, I have told Zhentian you are in the UK, and now he is on his way to the UK to find you," Old Master Zhang finally spoke.
Xia Jing was shocked; she didn’t think that Zhang Zhentian would come looking for her after finding out where she was.
"Hello, Xia Jing, are you still listening? Don’t be mad at your uncle, okay? You know, since you left for the UK, Zhentian has been looking for you every day, calling you constantly. When he misses you, he drinks secretly at home, getting so drunk that he sits in the chair for three days and nights. He always sits alone in his bedroom, looking outside, longing for you to come back to him. After you left, he realized his mistakes. He calls out for you in his dreams, begging you not to leave..."
"Please, no more, uncle, I beg you, stop!" Xia Jing interrupted Elder Zhang’s words.
"Uncle, I’m going to hang up now!" Xia Jing said, not giving Old Master Zhang a chance to speak and hung up the phone directly. Recalling what Elder Zhang had just said, she slowly knelt down and began to cry sorrowfully.
